Digital Citizenship Library Programming in Award-Winning Libraries of the Future: A case review of public libraries in the United States (공공도서관의 디지털 시민성 프로그래밍: 미국의 미래 도서관 수상 도서관을 중심으로)

  • Digital citizenship includes an evolving set of knowledge and skills related to effectively and ethically using technology, especially when interacting with other people, information, and media in the online context. As public libraries have long provided access to and training with a variety of technologies, this study explores how digital citizenship has been covered in public library programming to identify potential trends and best practices. A purposive sampling of public library recipients of the American Library Association (ALA) and Information Today Inc.'s Library of the Future Award over the past 11 years (2013-2023) identified 7 case libraries to review. The titles and descriptions of 337 relevant library programs for audiences of school-aged children (5 years old and up) to seniors were collected for a 2-month period from each library's website and analyzed using Ribble & Parks (2019) 9 elements of digital citizenship. The findings suggest that programming related to digital citizenship most often addresses themes connected to digital access and digital fluency through coverage of topics related to computer and technology use. Based on themes and examples from the findings, public libraries are encouraged to expand upon existing programs to integrate all elements of digital citizenship, strive for inclusive and accessible digital citizenship education for all ages, and leverage resources and expertise from relevant stakeholders and community partnerships.

A Study on the Priority Analysis of Information Systems Audit Evaluation Factors using Fuzzy-AHP Method (Fuzzy-AHP 기법을 이용한 정보시스템 감리서비스 평가항목에 대한 우선순위 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Current trend of audit is to check the physical aspects of developed information system, such as checking the budget constraints, time constraints or functional fluency etc. However, ultimate goal of information system is to help the organization to achieve the competency over their competitors. Also, there are three different interest groups in system auditing, like audit requesting group, audited group and audit group, who may have different points of interests in auditing. Current auditing process, however, ignores this point, and so does not check the differences between three groups. This study tries to develop new auditing method to cure these two problems. Contributions of this study may be summarized as follows. First, Introduce the new indexes that can check the possibility that the information system may contribute the competency of organization. Also check the feasibility of indexes through Fuzzy AHP. Second, Divide the audit related person into three groups, and their different needs toward the information system was analyzed. Third, Analyze and compare the main interests of three groups, and weights of each groups to each indexes were calculated. Fourth, Fuzzy theory was applied to quantify the qualitative answers, which may minimize the ambiguity of questionnaire replies.

Validating the Korean Translation of the Behavioral Pediatric Feeding Assessment Scale (Behavioral Pediatric Feeding Assessment Scale(BPFAS)의 번안 연구)

  • Objective : This study was conducted to verify the validity of the content of the Behavioral Pediatric Feeding Assessment Scale (BPFAS) following its translation into Korean, to allow the instrument to be used in Korea. Methods : The BPFAS was translated by the researcher and a pediatric occupational therapist with 12 years' experience. To validate the contents of the translated instrument, it was reviewed by three professors in the Department of Occupational Therapy who have taught how to evaluate instruments or conducted related research. The BPFAS was then translated back into English by a professional translator whose native language is English but who is fluent in Korean. The contents of the instrument were verified by using it to survey five parents with normally developed children aged between 9 and 72 months. The BPFAS instrument was successfully revised for use in Korea. Results : The content validity index (CVI) of the Korean version of the evaluation of children's eating behavior was an average of 0.9 points in the fluency area, an average of 0.8 points in the semantic area, and an average of 1 points in the technology area, and the overall average was 0.8 points or more. The average of the content understanding score was 3 points or more. Conclusion : It was confirmed that the Korean version of the BPFAS is an evaluation tool with high content validity and can be usefully used to gather data in clinical trials and research in Korea.
