Tomographic particle image velocimetry (PIV) is a widely used method that measures a three-dimensional (3D) flow field by reconstructing camera images into voxel images. In 3D measurements, the setting and calibration of the camera's mapping function significantly impact the obtained results. In this study, a camera self-calibration technique is applied to tomographic PIV to reduce the occurrence of errors arising from such functions. The measured 3D particles are superimposed on the image to create a disparity map. Camera self-calibration is performed by reflecting the error of the disparity map to the center value of the particles. Vortex ring synthetic images are generated and the developed algorithm is applied. The optimal result is obtained by applying self-calibration once when the center error is less than 1 pixel and by applying self-calibration 2-3 times when it was more than 1 pixel; the maximum recovery ratio is 96%. Further self-correlation did not improve the results. The algorithm is evaluated by performing an actual rotational flow experiment, and the optimal result was obtained when self-calibration was applied once, as shown in the virtual image result. Therefore, the developed algorithm is expected to be utilized for the performance improvement of 3D flow measurements.
A new correlation predicting the idealized critical mass-flow rates of water for subcooled and saturated liquid water including two-phase water flow was developed for a wide range of upstream stagnation pressures (e.g., 0.5-20.0 MPa). A choking correction factor dependent on the upstream stagnation pressure and subcooled temperature was introduced into a new correlation, and its values were suggested to satisfy the idealized nozzle data within 10% error ranges. The suggested correlation will be instructive and helpful for related studies and/or engineering works.

The objective of the study is to develop a GIS-based flood map. Hydraulic model (HEC-RAS) is linked with hydrologic model (HEC-HMS) for flood map. Geospatial data processors, HEC-GeoHMS and HEC-GeoRAS, are used for operating HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS. HEC-HMS was calibrated and validated at the Hwa-Ong watershed. HEC-HMS was used for calculating runoff from the Hwa-Ong watershed which consisted of Nam-Yang, Ja-An, U-Eun river sub-watersheds, and HEC-RAS was applied and validated for river flow routing at the Hwa-Ong watershed. The simulated results from HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS were reasonably good compared with the observed data. HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS were applied to simulate flooding from probability rainfall at the Hwa-Ong watershed, and the simulated result was used to develop a flood map. Flood map developed in this study will be used for mitigating and predicting the flood damages.
This paper presents the effects of an increase or a decrease of a power reserve by load flow calculations under the seasonal load patterns of each country for the future power shortages faced by the metropolitan areas or by the southeastern area of South Korea in North-East Asia. In this paper, the various cases of the power system interconnections in Far-East Asia are presented, and the resulting interconnected power systems are simulated by means of a power flow analysis performed with the PSS/E 28 version tool. Data for simulation were obtained from the 2-th long term plan of electricity supply and demand in KEPCO. The power flow map is drawn from simulated data and the comparative study is done. In the future, a power flow analysis will be considered to reflect the effects of seasonal power exchanges. And the plan of assumed scenarios will be considered with maximum or minimum power exchanges during summer or winter in North-East Asian countries.

A study to improve the accuracy of a map-based compressor model with experiment was performed. Corrections on the effects of suction gas superheat and heat leakage from a compressor shell are required to apply the compressor amp model based on the empirical performance data(map) of compressor manufacturers to the actual system. So experiments to assess the effects of superheat and hat leakage were performed and the corrected equations were made. Compressors and refrigerant used in the experiment were the high pressure type rotary compressor and R-22, experiments were performed by compressor calorimeter. From the experiment, a volumetric efficiency correction factor$(F_ν)$ showed the value of 0.77, slightly higher than 0.75 proposed by Dabiri and Rice for low pressure type reciprocating compressor, and the heat leakage from the compressor shell turned out to be a factor that influenced the discharged mass flow rate. The relation between heat leakage of compressor shell and the variation of discharged mass flow rate from compressor was considered in compressor map modeling as an empirical function. With this function, the prediction accuracy of compressor model in system conditions was improved.
The equicontinuity and scattering properties of continuous semi-flows are studied on a compact metric space. The main results are obtained as follows: first, the complexity function defined by the spanning set is bounded if and only if the system is equicontinuous; secondly, if a continuous semi-flow is topologically weak mixing, then it is pointwise scattering; thirdly, several equivalent conditions for the time-one map of a continuous semi-flow to be scattering are presented; Finally, for a minimal continuous map it is shown that the "non-dense" requirement is unnecessary in the definition of scattering by using open covers.
The water pollution such as oil spill from stream and river because of car accidents have been frequent cases in the watershed of Dam. However we don't have any simulation methods about flow modeling on the watershed and stream tree. In this study aims to analyze water pollution accidents area on impact range for ANDONG-Dam. The focused watershed and the risk range of path analysis model was designed by GIS database. The frequency of transportation accidents which may occur from road accidents in the level of quantitative and qualitative analysis to map flow analysis using ArcHydro Model and Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) API. and the path way from the accident point to the reservoir stayed on the path was simulated. The area of risk accessment index was displayed with cell and grid of dam area.

To demonstrate the applicability of RELAP5 to the prediction of the onset offlooding in the hot leg at the reflux condensation phase during mid-loop operation, numerical analysis is performed for the counter-current flow in a horizontal pipe with the inclined riser using the RELAP5/MOD3.2.2b code. It is found that the RELAP5, simulating the CCFL phenomena using interfacial friction along with the flow regime map in the horizontal pipe, produces unsatisfactory results. Under the CCFL condition, it is observed that large oscillation exists in the flow rate, void fraction, and etc. and the liquid flow rate is much lower than that predicted by the CCFL model measured in the experiment. The CCFL model of RELAP5 for the vertical volume is extended to the model for the horizontal and inclined volumes. The horizontal volume flow regime map and interfacial friction model coupled to the CCFL model are modified. And a new correlation developed from Kang's experiment is implemented to the CCFL model of RELAP5. With this modified RELAP5, the analysis of CCFL phenomena in the horizontal pipe and hot leg geometry is performed, and produces reasonable results in comparison with experimental data.
In a CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) reactor, fuel channel integrity depends on the coolability of the moderator as an ultimate heat sink under transient conditions such as a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) with coincident loss of emergency core cooling (LOECC), as well as normal operating conditions. This study presents assessments of moderator thermal-hydraulic characteristics in the normal operating conditions and one transient condition for CANDU-6 reactors, using a general purpose three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics code. First, an optimized calculation scheme is obtained by many-sided comparisons of the predicted results with the related experimental data, and by evaluating the fluid flow and temperature distributions. Then, using the optimized scheme, analyses of real CANDU-6 in normal operating conditions and the transition condition have been performed. The present model successfully predicted the experimental results and also reasonably assessed the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of a real CANDU-6 with 380 fuel channels. A flow regime map with major parameters representing the flow pattern inside a calandria vessel has also proposed to be used as operational and/or regulatory guidelines.

A set of experiments of counter-current flow limit (CCFL) was performed to improve the drawbacks of Wallis' correlation which neglected the effects of channel size, channel length, injection method and the boundary conditions at the inlet of liquid and gas phase. In this study, CCFL was observed by changing the shape of porous plate using air and water. The results show that as the size of porous increases, CCFL with a round shape of the porous plate start to disappear, In this study, the CCFL correlation was calculated and the corresponding CCFL map was developed based on the experimental results.
