In this paper, an approach of temporal certification system that can be easily added on current character-based certification system is newly introduced. This technique enhances the security of the password certification process by exploiting temporal information for each character's stroke timing, and using them as another feature of certification information, on top of character comparison process. There are three different temporal conditions: maximum, minimum and no-option. The maximum condition along with a time number (usually 0.2 second or less) means that the next key input should be punched within the time limit, while the minimum condition means the next key stroke should be typed after the time lapse specified. With no-option condition chosen, user can punch the password without any timing constraints. Prototype was developed and tested with four number password case. In comparison with 104 cases, this new approach increases the cases more than 10 digits, enhancing the security of the certification process. One big advantage of this new approach is that user can update his/her password only with different timing constraints, still keeping the same characters, that will enhance the security system management efficiency in a very simple way. Figures and pictures along with process flow are included for the validity of the idea.

This method is used for the determination of itraconazole in human plasma by liquid-liquid extraction and high performance liquid chromatography. Felodipine was used as an internal standard. After extraction of the plasma with diethyl ether, the centrifuged upper layer was then transferred. The supernantant was evaporated and then reconsituted with mobile phase. The mobile phase was composed of 10 mM ammonium acetate adjusted to pH 7 by phosphoric acid with a flow rate of 0.2 mL/min. A C18 reversed-phase column with a pre-column was used as the analytial column. Linear detection responses were obtained for itraconzole concentration range for 2~1,000 ng/mL. The correlation coefficient of linear regression($R^2$) was 0.9991, limit of quantification (LOQ) was 2 ng/mL, reproducibility was less than 10.8 %, and accuracy was 97.2~108.2%. This method has been successfully applied to the pharmacokinetic study of itraconazole in human plasma.
A simple and rapid high-performance liquid chromatography assay for the determination of residual novobiocin levels in bovine, porcine, chicken, flatfish and japanese eel muscle has been developed and validated. The separation condition for HPLC/UV was optimized with phenyl hexyl ($4.6{\times}150mm$, $5{\mu}m$) column with 10 mM monobasic sodium phosphate buffer (pH 2.5)/acetonitrile (50/50, v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and detection wavelength was set at 254 nm. Residues were extracted from tissue by blending with methanol and lipid materials were removed with n-hexane. Then, the methanol extract was evaporated to dryness under a nitrogen stream, reconstituted in the mobile phase. Aliquot of the organic extract was decanted and filtered through $0.45{\mu}m$ syringe filter. The $20{\mu}L$ of the resulting solution was injected into the HPLC system. The calibration ranges were $0.5{\sim}5{\mu}g/g$ and calibration curves were linear with coefficients of correlation better than 0.95. The limits of quantification were $0.5{\mu}g/g$ for all muscles. The recoveries of bovine, porcine, chicken, flatfish and japaneseel muscles were 99.8%, 102.4%, 91.0%, 104.0% and 93.0%, respectively. The procedures were validated according to the CODEX guideline, determining specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, quantitation limit and recovery.

A simple and rapid HPLC method with fluorescence detection(FLD) for quantitation of penciclovir in human plasma using a monolithic column was developed and validated. Penciclovir and ganciclovir(internal standard, I.S.) were separated on a Chromolith column RP-18e ($4.6{\times}100mm$) with a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of (A) methanol/50 mM sodium phosphate buffer containing 200 mg/L sodium dodecyl sulfate (3/97, pH 2.5) and (B) methanol/50 mM sodium phosphate buffer containing 200 mg/L sodium dodecyl sulfate (50/50, pH 2.5) at a flow gradient of $1.6{\sim}4.0mL/min$. The retention times of penciclovir and internal standard were less than 4.0 min. Calibration curve was linear ($R^2=0.9994$) over a concentration range of $0.1{\sim}5{\mu}g/mL$. Intra-day precision, accuracy and inter-day precision were 1.36~8.55 %, 92.8~100.0 % and 0.93~5.62 %, respectively with a limit of quantitation at $0.1{\mu}g/mL$. The present HPLC-FLD method is sensitive, precise and accurate. The method described herein has been successfully used for the bioequivalence study of a famciclovir formulation product after oral administration to healthy Korean volunteers.

Currently, no guidelines exist regarding the maximum residues of pesticides in edible oil which is a processed food commonly consumed in Korea. This lack of guidelines hinders the evaluation of the safety of edible oil in terms of pesticide contamination. In this study, an analysis method based on heat distillation and GC-MS/MS was established by optimizing the extraction and purification procedure for 68 pesticides. Important variables in the thermal distillation procedure included heating temperature and time, and we found the nitrogen flow rate as a mobile phase and the type of dissolving solvent were not considerably affected. The determination coefficient (R2) of the residual pesticide was 0.99 or higher, and the quantitative limit (LOQ) was 0.01-0.02 mg/L. The average recovery rate (n=5) was 66.1-120.0% and the relative standard deviation was lower than ±10% when 68 pesticides were spiked at concentrations of 0.01-0.02, 0.1, and 0.5 mg/L. In addition, the within-laboratory precision was less than ±11%, meeting the Korea Food and Drug Safety Evaluation Institute's Guidelines on Standard Procedures for Preparing Food Testing Methods (2016). Therefore, the test method developed in this study can be used as a test method for managing the safety of the residual pesticide concentration in edible oil.

The first technological advance to improve the output and efficiency of the latest steam turbines operating in co-generation plants in Korea can be said to be progress in the field of materials that can use high-temperature, high-pressures steam. As a result of design efforts to improve the internal efficiency of steam turbines along with the development of materials, only a few manufacturers of steam turbine have produced high efficiency steam turbines. The internal efficiency of a steam turbine on the steam path operating for a long period of time is gradually lost owing to the limit of mechanical life, and efficiency and output decrease. Therefore, this study aims to develop a model that can analyze the steam flow path performance of HP (High Pressure) and IP (Intermediate Pressure) steam turbine for a co-generation plant using a commercial program and propose a performance calculation method. Owing to the complex performance calculation method of steam turbines, major variables are presented to serve as practically useful references for steam turbine practitioners. In addition, the thermal dynamic analysis(such as heat balance diagram calculation) and the the thermal dynamic calculation required for steam turbine performance calculation and the suitability of the steam turbine performance calculation results were compared with the performance test results.
Purpose To determine the efficacy and safety of iliac branch device (IBD) implantation and to evaluate its limitations based on 7 years of experience in a single center. Materials and Methods This single-center study included patients with bilateral common iliac artery aneurysms (CIAAs). We investigated follow-up CT and reviewed the internal iliac artery (IIA) patency and complications related to IBD. A retrospective analysis was performed and the overall survival rate and freedom from reintervention rate were reported according to the Kaplan-Meier method. Results Of the 38 patients with CIAAs, only 10 (12 CIAAs) were suitable for IBD treatment. Five patients underwent unilateral IBD insertion with contralateral IIA embolization, and three (60%) showed claudication; however, symptoms resolved within 6 months. The 7-year freedom from IBD-related reintervention rate was 77.8%. No procedure-related deaths occurred. Conclusion IBD has good technical success and long-term patency rates; however, anatomical factors frequently limit its application, particularly in Asians. Additionally, unilateral IIA embolization showed relatively mild complications and a good prognosis; therefore, it can be performed safely for anatomically complex aortoiliac aneurysms.
The objective of this research was to characterize the fate and transport of Cr(VI) contaminated groundwater in the Daejeon industrial area. Five subsidiary monitoring wells were newly installed and two existing wells were utilized for the investigation and the reduction process of Cr(VI) contaminated groundwater of the Daejeon(Mun-pyeong) national groundwater monitoring station. The Cr(VI) concentrations at the shallow aquifer well of the station were in the range of 3.2-4.5 mg/L indicating continuous contamination. However, Cr was not detected at the deep bedrock well and the other monitoring wells except MPH-1 and 3. The Cr(VI) concentrations of MPH-1 and MPH-3 were below the drinking water guideline value (0.05 mg/L). Therefore, the plume of the Cr(VI) contaminated groundwater was predicted to be confined within the narrow boundary around the station. The soluble/exchangeable Cr(VI) concentrations were below the detection limit in all core and slime samples taken from the five newly installed wells. Although the exact source of contamination was not directly detected in the study area, the spatial Cr(VI) distribution in groundwater and characteristics of the core samples indicated that the source and the dispersion range were confined within the 100 m area from the monitoring station. The contamination might be induced from the unlined landfill of industrial wastes which was observed during the installation of an subsidiary monitoring well. For the evaluation of the natural attenuation of Cr(VI), available reduction capacities of Cr(VI) with an initial concentration of 5 mg/L were measured in soil and aquifer materials. Dark-gray clay layer samples have high capacities of Cr(VI) reduction ranging from 58 to 64%, which is obviously related to organic carbon contents of the samples. The analysis of reduction capacities implied that the soil and aquifer materials controlled the dispersion of Cr(VI) contamination in this area. However, some possibilities of dispersion by the preferential flow cannot be excluded due to the limited numbers of monitoring wells. We suggest the removal of Cr(VI) contaminated groundwater by periodical pumping, and the continuous groundwater quality monitoring for evaluation of the Cr(VI) dispersion should be followed in the study area.
Small lysimeter experiment under rain shelter plastic film house was conducted to investigate the effect of soil characteristics on the leaching and soil solution concentration of nitrate and phosphate. Three soils were obtained from different agricultural sites of Korea: Soil A (mesic family of Typic Dystrudepts), Soil B (mixed, mesic family of Typic Udifluvents), and Soil C (artificially disturbed soils under greenhouse). Organic-C contents were in the order of Soil C ($32.4g\;kg^{-1}$) > Soil B ($15.0g\;kg^{-1}$) > Soil A ($8.1g\;kg^{-1}$). Inorganic-N concentration also differed significantly among soils, decreasing in the order of Soil B > Soil C > Soil A. Degree of P saturation (DPS) of Soil C was 178%, about three and fifteen times of Soil B (38%) and Soil A (6%). Prior to treatment, soils in lysimeters (dia. 300 mm, soil length 450 mm) were tabilized by repeated drying and wetting procedures for two weeks. After urea at $150kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ and $KH_2PO_4$ at $100kg\;P_2O_5\;ha^{-1}$ were applied on the surface of each soil, total volume of irrigation was 213 mm at seven occasions for 65 days. At 13, 25, 35, 37, and 65 days after treatment, soil solution was sampled using rhizosampler at 10, 20, and 30 cm depth and leachate was sampled by free drain out of lysimeter. The volume of leachate was the highest in Soil C, and followed by the order of Soils A and B, whereas the amount of leached nitrate had a reverse trend, i.e. Soil B > Soil A > Soil C. Soil A and B had a significant increase of the nitrate concentration of soil solution at depth of 10 cm after urea-N treatment, but Soil C did not. High nitrate mobility of Soil B, compared to other soils, is presumably due to relatively high clay content, which could induce high extraction of nitrate of soil matrix by anion exclusion effect and slow rate of water flow. Contrary to Soil B, high organic matter content of Soil C could be responsible for its low mobility of nitrate, inducing preferential flow by water-repellency and rapid immobilization of nitrate by a microbial community. Leached phosphate was detected in Soil C only, and continuously increased with increasing amount of leachate. The phosphate concentration of soil solution in Soil B was much lower than in Soil C, and Soil A was below detection limit ($0.01mg\;L^{-1}$), overall similar to the order of degree of P saturation of soils. Phosphate mobility, therefore, could be largely influenced by degree of P saturation of soils but connect with apparent leaching loss only more than any threshold of P accumulation.

A method for the determination of four pesticide compounds, urea (isoproturon), bis-carbamate (phenmedipham), thiocarbamate (pyridate) and vinyllidenediamine (nitenpyram) were examined and analyzed by HPLC with C-18 column ($250\;mm{\times}4.6\;mm$, $5\;{\mu}m$ diameter particle size). Mobile phase consisted of deionized water, acetonitrile and 50 mM $KH_2PO_4$ (pH 2.5). Isoproturon and phenmedipham analytical condition was isocratic elution of the column with 50% solvent A (acetonitrile) and 50% solvent B (deionized water); pyridate was 85% solvent A (acetonitrile) and 15% solvent B (deionized water) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min; and nitenpyram analytical condition was 90% solvent A (50 mM $KH_2PO_4$, pH 2.5) and 10% solvent B (acetonitrile) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. In results, retention times were 6.12, 8.63, 9.40 and 12.76 min for isoproturon, phenmedipham, pyridate and nitenpyram, respectively. All injection volumes were $10\;{\mu}L$ and the limit of quantitation was 0.05 mg/kg for four pesticide compounds, respectively. Recovery rate test was performed with three farm products, rice, apple and soybean. Four pesticide compounds were spiked at concentrations of 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg. The recovery rates were ranged from 70.18% to 118.08% and the standard deviations of all experiments were within 10%.
