공기저항 저감을 위한 컨테이너선 상부구조물 형상설계 및 성능평가 (Design and Performance Evaluation of Superstructure Modification for Air Drag Reduction of a Container Ship)

  • Reduction of the fuel oil consumption and corresponding greenhouse gas exhausted from ships is an important issue for today's ship design and shipping. Several concepts and devices on the superstructure of a container ship were suggested and tested in the wind tunnel to estimate the air drag reduction. As a preliminary performance evaluation, air drag contributions of each part of the superstructure and containers were estimated based on RANS simulation respectively. Air drag reduction efficiency of shape modification and add-on devices on the superstructure and containers was also estimated. Gap-protectors between containers and a visor in front of upper deck were found to be most effective for drag reduction. Wind tunnel tests had been carried out to confirm the drag reduction performance between the baseline(without any modification) configuration and two modified superstructure configurations which were designed and chosen based on the computation results. The test results with the modified configurations show considerable aerodynamic drag reduction, especially the gap-protectors between containers show the largest reduction for the wide range of heading angles. RANS computations for three configurations were performed and compared with the wind tunnel tests. Computation result shows the similar drag reduction trend with experiment for small heading angles. However, the computation result becomes less accurate as heading angle is increasing where the massively separated flow is spread over the leeward side.

  • For rear metallization with Al paste, Al back contacts require good passivation, high reflectance, and a processing temperature window compatible with the front metal. In this paper, the effect of the firing ambient during the metallization process on the formation of Al rear metal was investigated. We chose three different gases as ambient gases during the firing process. Using SEM, we observed the formation of a back surface field in $N_2$, $O_2$, and Air ambients. To determine the effect of the ambient on Voc, the suns-Voc tool was used. In this study, we described the mechanism of burn-out of organic materials in Al paste during the firing process. The oxygen ambient plays an important role in the burn-out process. We calculated the efficiency with obtained the back surface recombination velocities using PC1D simulation. It was found that the presence of oxygen during the firing process influenced the uniform back surface field because the organic materials in the Al paste were efficiently burned out during heating. The optimized temperature with oxygen flow shows an absolute efficiency of 19.1% at PC1D simulation.

VARTM 공정에서 수지 함침에 따른 섬유체적율 변화의 측정 및 현상학적 모델링 연구 (Experimental and Phenomenological Modeling Studies on Variation of Fiber Volume Fraction during Resin Impregnation in VARTM)

  • VARTM 공정에서 고분자 수지가 함침 될 때 시간에 따라 섬유보강재가 팽창하여 섬유체적율이 감소하는 현상이 발생한다. 풍력 블레이드와 같은 대형 복합재료 구조물의 경우 섬유체적율의 변동 폭이 커져 제품의 치수가 변하고 기계적 물성이 저하될 뿐 아니라 예측하지 못한 고분자 수지의 사용량이 증가하는 등의 문제점과 경제적인 손실이 발생할 여지가 증가할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 VARTM 공정에서 수지 함침에 따른 섬유 보강재의 팽창 현상에 관한 분석을 통하여 복합재료 액상 성형 공정에서의 섬유 체적율을 조절하는 방안을 모색하였다. 그 결과 유동 선단의 진행에 따라 섬유의 팽창 현상이 크게 두 단계로 구분되어 나타나는 것을 확인하였고 각각의 단계에서 작용하는 힘을 분석함으로써 섬유의 체적율 변화에 관한 현상학적 모델을 제시하였고 1차원 편미분 수치 해석과 연계하여 VARTM공정에서 수지 함침에 따른 섬유 체적율의 변화를 예측하였다.

DMMP 검출용 금속산화물을 첨가한 $SnO_2$ 가스센서 제조 (Fabrication of $SnO_2$ Gas Sensor added by Metal Oxide for DMMP)

  • $SnO_2$ gas sensor for the detection DMMP, simulant of nerve gas was fabricated and its characteristics were examined. Sensing materials were $SnO_2$ added by TEX>$\alpha$-$Al_{2}O_{3}$ with 0∼20wt.% and $In_{2}O_{3}$ with 0∼3wt.% and were physically mixed each material. They were deposited by screen printing method on alumina substrate. The sensor was consisted of sensing electrode with interdigit(IDT) type in front and a heater in back side. Its dimension was 7$\times$10$\times$0.6$\textrm{mm}^2$. Crystallite size 8t phase identification, specific surface area and morphology of fabricated $SnO_2$ powders were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), surface area analyzer(BET) and by a scanning electron microscope(SEM), respectively. Sensor was measured as flow type and sensor resistance change was monitored as real time using LabVIEW program. The best sensitivities were 75% at adding 4wt.% TEX>$\alpha$-$Al_{2}O_{3}$, operating temperature $300^{\circ}C$ and 87% at adding 2wt.% $In_{2}O_{3}$, operating temperature $350^{\circ}C$ to DMMP 0.5ppm. Response and recovery times were about 1 and 3 min., respectively. Repetition measurement was very good with $\pm$3% in full scale. As a result, operating temperature was lower TEX>$\alpha$-$Al_{2}O_{3}$ than $In_{2}O_{3}$, but sensitivity was higher $In_{2}O_{3}$ than $\alpha$-$Al_{2}O_{3}$.

변압기용 ONAF 방식 방열기의 팬 배치에 따른 냉각특성 연구 (Numerical Study of the Effect of Fan Arrangement on the Cooling Performance of the ONAF Type Radiator for Power Transformer)

  • 전력용 변압기 용량의 증대와 고효율화에 따른 권선의 단위체적당 열발생량의 증가 및 이에 따른 절연성능의 저하는 전력용 변압기의 수명과 신뢰성에 큰 영향을 준다. 이러한 문제점은 방열기의 냉각성능을 증가시킴으로써 해결이 가능하다. 본 연구는 ONAF(Oil Natural Air Forced) 형식의 변압기의 방열기에 대해 공기의 강제대류를 일으키는 팬의 위치에 따른 냉각성능 평가를 통하여 냉각효과가 가장 큰 팬의 위치를 찾기 위한 것이다. 해석에는 유동해석 상용소프트웨어를 사용하였으며, 해석시간의 단축을 위하여 오일의 냉각유로를 단순화시켰고 팬의 지름을 일정하게 두고 팬의 위치를 다양하게 변화시켜가며 해석을 실행하였다. 해석 결과 팬의 수직적인 위치 변화는 냉각성능에 크게 영향을 주지 않았으나 팬이 변압기의 전방영역에 위치할 경우 후방영역의 배치보다 온도강하가 큰 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구는 2차원 충돌분류계의 포텐셜코어영역(H/B=2)내에서 전열증진을 목적으로 전열면 앞에 폭 6mm인 정 4각 rod군을 설치하고 rod와 전열면간의 간극(C=1, 2, 4, 6mm)과 rod와 rod사이의 피치(P=30, 40, 50mm)를 변화시킬때의 유동특성과 전열특성을 실험적으로 규명하고 rod를 설치하지 않았을 경우와 비교 검토한 것으로 간극변화시에는 C=1mm인 경우가 전열성능이 가장 우수하였으며, rod의 피치(P)를 변화시킨 경우에는 rod가 없는 평판에 비해 각각 약 1.6배의 평균전열증진율이 나타났다.

근접요구도와 버블다이어그램을 적용한 1300식 규모의 학교급식 시설 설계 모델 (A Facility Design Model for 1300 Capacity School Foodservice with Adjacency and Bubble Diagrams)

  • This study aimed to suggest a 1300 scale of a middle school foodservice facility floor plan which was compliant to the principle of HACCP, as well as ensuring food and work safety, and the flow of personnel and food materials. which consisted of 46 nutrition teachers and 6 experts, responded with a questionnaire on the relationship of functional area and space. Using their opinions, key principles for the design of the facility were single direction movement of food materials, customers and workers; minimization of the cross-contamination through the separation of functional space; and securement of customer-focused efficiency; staff-centered convenience and efficiency; and work and food safety. After the completion of an adjacency diagram, bubble diagram and program statement, the functional areas of a 1300 scale middle school food-service facility were allocated as follows: $9.9\;m^2$ for the receiving area, $56.1\;m^2$ for the pre-preparation area, $10.5\;m^2$ for the food storage area, $6.0\;m^2$ for the supplies storage area, $97.8\;m^2$ for the cooking area, $33.6\;m^2$ for the service area, $52.5\;m^2$ for dish washing area, cafeteria $410.5\;m^2$, $4.5\;m^2$ for the front room, for a total of $725.8\;m^2$. Expert groups have pointed to limitations within this model as there are no windows in the office for the influx of fresh outside air and a need for the straight line installation of steam-jacket and frying kettles on the sides of windows. This study can be useful as the guidelines for estimating the investment cost of the facility and placing the placement of functional areas and equipment in the renovation of the facility. It can be also useful data for a methodology of foodservice facility design.

횡방향 재하 말뚝 주변의 널말뚝에 관한 변수연구 (A Parametric Study of Sheet Pile Wall Near the Laterally Loaded Pile)

  • 널말뚝을 해안지역이나 도심지역에 건설하는 경우 주변에 위치한 횡방향 재하 말뚝의 영향권 내에 존재하게 되는 경우가 발생하게 되지만, 기존 설계방법에서는 이러한 영향에 대하여 고려하고 있지 않다. 본 연구를 통해 말뚝에 횡방향 하중이 재하되는 경우 근접한 널말뚝에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 상용프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 3차원 유한요소 모델을 만들었으며 지반 구성모델로는 Drucker-Prager 모델, 널말뚝과 말뚝은 선형탄성으로 거동하도록 모사하였다. 널말뚝의 휨강성, 말뚝과 널말뚝 간의 거리, 굴착깊이, 그리고 지반의 탄성계수 등 총 4가지 변수들을 사용하여 횡방향 재하 말뚝이 주변 널말뚝에 미치는 영향을 분석해 보았다. 수치해석 결과를 이용하여 널말뚝에 발생하는 최대 횡방향 변위 및 휨모멘트를 측정할 수 있는 간단한 식을 제시하였다.

갈대 및 부들 습지셀의 연못시스템 방류수 질소제거 비교 (Comparison of Nitrogen Removal Between Reed and Cattail Wetland Cells in a Treatment Pond System)

  • [ $NO_3$ ]-N and T-N removal rates of cattail wetland cells were compared with those of reed wetland cells. The examined cells were a part of a pond-wetland system composed of two ponds in series and six wetland cells in parallel. Each wetland cell was 25m in length and 6m in width. Cattails (Typha angustifolia) were transplanted into three cells and reeds Phragmites australis) into another three ones in June 2000. Water of Sinyang stream flowing into Kohung Estuarine lake located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula was pumped into the primary pond, its effluent was discharged into the secondary pond Effluent from the secondary pond was funneled into each cell. Two cattail and reed cells were chosen for this research. Water quantity and quality of influnt and effluent were analyzed front May 2001 through October 2001. The volume of influent and effluent of the cells averaged about $20.0\;m^3/day$ and $19.3\;m^3/day$, respectively. Hydraulic retention time was approximately 1.5 days. Influent $NO_3$-N concentration for the four cells averaged 2.39 mg/L. Effluent $NO_3$-N concentration far the cattail and reed cells averaged 1.74 and 1.78 mg/L, respectively. Average $NO_3$-N retention rate for the cattail and reed cells by mass was 30 and 29%, respectively. Influent T-N concentration far the four cells averaged 4.13 mg/L. Effluent T-N concentration for the cattail and reed cells averaged 2.55 and 2.61 mgL respectively. Average T-N retention rate for the cattail and reed cells by mass was 39 and 38%, respectively. $NO_3$-N and T-N concentrations in effluent from the cattail cells were significantly low (p=0.04), compared with those from the reed cells. Cattail wetland cells were more efficient for $NO_3$-N and T-N abatement than reed ones.

Transport of Urea in Waterlogged Soil Column: Experimental Evidence and Modeling Approach Using WAVE Model

  • The main form of nitrogen fertilizer applied to lowland rice is urea, but little is known about its transport in waterlogged soil. This study was conducted to investigate the transport of urea in waterlogged soil column using WAVE (simulation of the substances Water and Agrochemicals in the soil, crop and Vadose Environment) model which includes the parameters for urea adsorption and hydrolysis, The adsorption distribution coefficient and hydrolysis rate of urea were measured by batch experiments. A transport experiment was carried out with the soil column which was pre-incubated for 45 days under flooded condition. The urea hydrolysis rate (k) was $0.073h^{-1}$. Only 5% of the applied urea remained in soil column at 4 days after urea application. The distribution coefficient ($K_d$) of urea calculated from adsorption isotherm was $0.21Lkg^{-1}$, so it was assumed that urea that urea was a weak-adsorbing material. The maximum concentration of urea was appeared at the convective water front because transport of mobile and weak-adsorbing chemicals, such as urea, is dependent on water convective flow. The urea moved down to 11 cm depth only for 2 days after application, so there is a possibility that unhydrolyzed urea could move out of the root zone and not be available for crops. A simulated urea concentration distribution in waterlogged soil column using WAVE model was slightly different from the measured concentration distribution. This difference resulted from the same hydrolysis rate applied to all soil depths and overestimated hydrodynamic dispersion coefficient. In spite of these limitations, the transport of urea in waterlogged soil column could be predict with WAVE model using urea hydrolysis rate (k) and distribution coefficient ($K_d$) which could be measured easily from a batch experiment.
