Characteristic of Frost Growth on a Cold Cylinder Surface in Cross Flow (직교류 내 원관 표면에서의 서리층 성장 특성)

  • In this paper, frosting experiments were conducted with variations of frosting parameters in order to obtain the correlations of frost properties. As a result, the local thickness, density, and surface temperature of the frost layer were presented. The dimensionless correlations for the frost thickness, frost density, frost surface temperature and heat transfer coefficient were derived as functions of dimensionless frosting parameters by using a dimensional analysis.

  • Design and off-design program is set up to analyze the performance of a plate heat exchanger. The program is verified by comparing the results with the experiment. The comparison shows that the predicted overall heat transfer coefficients are in good agreement with the measurements. Also the off-design performance according to the variations of inlet water temperature, flow rate, and the number of plates is analyzed to study the performance characteristic of a plate heat exchanger.

  • 바나듐 산화 환원 유동 배터리는 긴 수명주기와 높은 에너지효율로 리튬 이온 배터리를 대체할 차세대 배터리로 주목받고 있다. 에너지가 저장되는 전해질을 순환시키면서 충전 과방전이 이루어진다는 이차전지 인 만큼 유지 보수 비용을 획기적으로 절감할 수 있고 사용자의 요구조건에 따라 출력과 에너지 용량을 매우 쉽게 조절할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 하지만, 바나듐 산화 환원 유동 배터리를 다양한 어플리케이션에 적용하기 위하여 바나듐 배터리 운용에서 여러 가지 요소들을 고려하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 충전 및 방전을 지속했을 때의 용량 감소하는 바나듐 산화 환원 유동 배터리의 특성을 고려하여 가장 까다로운 문제 중 하나인 휴지 기간에서의 자가 방전에 대해 온도와 SOC에 따라 특성 분석을 실시하였다.

Analysis of Flow Characteristic and Suspended Soild Transport at Nakdong River using RAMS and SMS Models (RAMS 및 SMS 모형을 이용한 낙동강 본류 구간의 흐름분석 및 부유사 거동 모의)

  • 본 연구에서는 남구미대교, 왜관낙동강대교가 통과하는 낙동강 본류의 구미, 칠곡구간 9.23km에 대하여 설계홍수량과 평수량에 대한 흐름분석과 공사시 발생가능한 부유사 농도를 산정하여 부유사의 거동에 대해 2차원 유한요소모형인 RAMS와 SMS 모형을 이용하여 모의하였다. 흐름모의를 실시한 결과, RAMS 및 SMS 모형에 의해 산정된 수위 및 유속 결과가 기본계획보고서에서 제시된 수위 및 유속과 유사하게 산정되고 있었으며, 교량 주변의 흐름분포도 RAMS 및 SMS모형의 결과가 유사하게 모의 되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 공사강도에 따른 발생가능한 부유사 농도를 산정하고 공사가 이루어질 위치 2지점을 가정하여 각각 RAMS 및 SMS모형을 이용하여 부유사 거동을 모의하였다. RAMS 및 SMS 모형에 의한 모의결과, 두 모형 모두 각 지점 하류 100m 부근의 부유사농도가 30~40, 15~20ppm의 범위로 부유사 농도를 보이고 있었다.

  • Direct Drive Valves (DDV) with electric closed loop spool position control are suitable for electrohydraulic position, velocity, pressure or force control systems including those with high dynamic response requirements. The spool drive device is a permanent magnet linear force motor which can actively stroke the spool from its spring centered position in both directions. This basic study is carried out to drive the design parameters for developing a domestic DDV. The static and dynamic characteristics of DDV are examined. The simulation results are compared with data of manufacture's catalog to show the validity of the modelling.

  • Recently, the electromagnetic proportional valve has been widely used in order to control pressure and flow in such systems as NC machine and automatic facility. The linear electromagnetic solenoid used for proportional control valve ought to have hysteresis characteristic because of control the thrust force proportionably by input current. Therefore, in this study, we analysis the thrust force characteristics and established design for practical use, which allows Linear Pulse Motor(LPM) to be used as a driving system for electromagnetic proportional control valves.

  • Two dimensional numericl analysis program of power VDMOSFET structure has been developed. Modeling for equipotential distribution, current flow pattern and carrier distribution are presented. I-V characteristic curves due to saturation velocity, mobility value, transconductance and on-resistance are studied by comparison of computer simulated results and exeperimental data. These are found to agree with the simulated results and experimental data.

  • For most engineering materials are influenced by the dominant mechanism resisting crack extention under large scale yielding conditions. Continuum mechanics analysis shows that fracture toughness, in addition to depending on young's modulus, flow stress strain hardening exponent, and yield strain, should be nearly proportoinal to the effective fracture ductility obtained for the stress state characteristic for region ahead of the crack; plane stress or plane strain. It's known that, in most ductile materials, crack propagation of the material strongly governed by the $J_{IC}$ value, which is still difficult to determine for it's complicate and treble-some determinative process. This paper, on the assumption that, initiation of crack tip strain field reaches on the relationships between the critical value of J-integral ($J_{IC}$) and the local fracture strain(${\varepsilon}_c$) in uniaxial tensile test in the region of maximun reduction areas was described.

  • The falling ball viscometer has been widely used for measuring the viscosity of the Newtonian fluids because of its simple theory and low cost. The use of the falling ball viscometer for measuring the non-Newtonian viscosity has been of interest to rheologists for some years. The analysis of the experimental results in a falling ball viscometer rest on Stokes law which yields the terminal velocity for a sphere moving through an infinite medium of fluids. An attempt to use the falling ball viscometer to measure the non-Newtonian viscosity in the intermediate shear rate ranEe was sucessfully accomplished by combining the direct experimental obserbations with a simple analytical model for the average shear-stress and shear rate at, the surface of a sphere. In the experiments with highly viscoelastic polyacrylamide solutions the terminal velocity was observed to be dependent on the time interval between the dropping of successive balls. The time-dependent phenomenon was used to determine characteristic diffusion times of the concentrated solutions of polyacrylamide.

  • This paper describes real time dynamic tests on the digital distance relay using new digital test system including RTDS(Real Time Digital Simulator) in KEPRI. The RTDS is developed by the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre and consists of specialized hardware and software which allows transients simulation of electrical power systems in real time. From high impedance fault test, it is known that the characteristics of distance reach is influenced by load flow. A detailed discussion of relay test using the RTDS simulator, high impedance faults and test results are included in the paper.
