  • In Software Defined Network (SDN), data plane and control plane are decoupled. Dummy switches on the data plane simply forward packet based on the flow entries that are stored in its flow table. The flow entries are generated by a centralized controller that acts as a brain of the network. However, the size of flow table is limited and it can conduct a security issue related to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). Especially, it related to resource attack that consumes all flow table resource and consumes controller resources. In this paper, we will analyze the impact of flow table limitation to the controller. Then we propose an approach that is called Flow Table Management to handle flow table limitation.

  • With the rapid advancement of Internet services, there has been a dramatic increase in services that dynamically provide Internet resources on demand, such as cloud computing. In a cloud computing service, because the number of users in the cloud is changing dynamically, it is more efficient to utilize a flexible network technology such as software-defined networking (SDN). However, to efficiently support the SDN-based cloud computing service with limited resources, it is important to effectively manage the flow table at the SDN switch. Therefore, in this paper, a new flow management scheme is proposed that is able to, through efficient management, speed up the flow-entry search speed and simultaneously maximize the number of flow entries. The proposed scheme maximizes the capacity of the flow table by efficiently storing flow entry information while quickly executing the operation of flow-entry search by employing a hash index. In this paper, the proposed scheme is implemented by modifying the actual software SDN switch and then, its performance is analyzed. The results of the analysis show that the proposed scheme, by managing the flow tables efficiently, can support more flow entries.

  • This study is purposed to review the confirm method of pumping efficiency using the concrete flow table test in Korea environment. This test method is registered as the "EN 12350-5, Testing fresh concrete. Flow table test" in Eurocode. When applying this test in the Korea construction environment, we reviewed that reasonably apply on the Korean construction Environment. As a result, test results analysis showed that the reality looks a big difference. Its cause is believed to be due to the shape of coarse & fine aggregate. But it will be better predict method, through the correlation analysis of construction data and the standard(Placing Concrete by pumping Methods(ACI Manual of concrete Practice 304.2R-96)).

  • A flow visualization experiment using water-table models was performed. The water-table models simulated the two-dimensional cold flow fields inside the combustion chambers of incinerators. The flow were visualized by small but neutrally bouyant particles photographed by an overhead camera. The experimentally simulated flow fields apparently showed distinct features of two combustion chamber shapes; counter and parallel flow types. The significance of the secondary air injection on the mixing of combustion gases were clearly observed. The effects of the recirculation zones, which were present in the secondary chamber, were discussed by considering the importance of them for optimal combustion.

  • The flow ratio in the industrial process is usually accomplished by using PID controller with series type ratio. But always the large overshoot and a long rise time may be achieved from this conventional control. These problems are involved to the inexact flow ratio control. In order to avoid this poor performance. the paper presents a designing of the two controller modes for the flow ratio plants. This proposed controller combine the lookup table technique and the well-known PID controller to obtain the fast response and low overshoot of flow ratio control. The PID controller mode will be operated when the flow ratio reaches the preset value while the lookup table technique mode is applied for initial operation. The data in tile table is calculated by the valve sizing equation and convened to the valve position control signal. The experimental results show that the transient and steady state responses of the control systems using the proposed technique can be efficiently obtained when compared with tile conventional controller.

  • This test was carried out to present criterion to measure the liquid limit of weathered granite soil by using the flow-table method whose operation is easier and more convenient than slump test. The results are as follows. 1. Since liquid limit of weathered granite soil depends upon the particle size distribution, weatheredness and content of colored minerals, maximum particle size should be prescribed when the testing rule of liquid limit by flow-table method is enacted. 2. If take the averaged water content as liquid limit where the height and width of flow are 1 cm respectively by 10 times dropping, this liquid limit is slightly less than the one by slump test. The differance of liquid limit between flow table method and slump test is about 10%. 3. Correlation curves of flow width-water content and flow hight-water content show similar shapes. Those are straight lines in semi-logarithm paper just as liquid limit test. 4. This flow-table method is more convenient and has less personal error of measurement than slump test does. So flow-table method would be favourably utilized for judging the engineering properties of soil.

  • Software Defined Network (SDN) separates control plane and data plane to achieve benefits such as centralized management, centralized provisioning, lower device cost and more flexibility. In SDN, scalability is an important issue. Centralized controller can be a bottle neck and many research tried to solve this issue on the control plan. However, scalability issue does not only happen in the control plane, but also happen in the data plane. In the data plane, flow table is an important component and its size is limited. In a large network operated by SDN technology, the performance of the network can be highly degraded because of the size limitation of a flow table. In this paper, we propose a ranking-based flow replacement method, Flow Table Management (FTM), to overcome this problem.

  • The effect of placing a worktable in a vertical laminar flow clean room is invesgiated by a numerical simulation. The model clean room is assumed to be a rectangular square of 2m*2m, in which a worktable of 0.8m long and 0.1m thick is located at 0.7m above the floor. Major parameters are the horizontal position of the table and the inlet flow velocity. The flow is assumed to be laminar throughout the clean room. Navier-Stokes equations with the pressure terms are directly solved by the SIMPLE algorithm. Boundary conditions at the two exits are given in terms of pressure conditions. The flow pattern, pressure loss due to viscous friction, the ratio of flow rates through each exit and pressure imbalance at the exits are calculated. All of the flow characteristics are seen to vary substantially with the location of the table, but are quite insensitive to the inlet flow velocity(Reynolds number). As an example, the flow rate through each exit can very by as much as 30% depending on the location of the table.
