  • 본 논문에서는 후향계단 유동장 모델링 및 복원오차를 분석한다. 유동장의 밀도를 POD(Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) 기법을 통해 공간모드와 시간모드로 추출하여 수학적으로 모델링한다. 모델링 오차를 정립하여 유동에너지와 오차 사이의 관계를 정리한다. 모델링 오차를 시간영역 뿐만 아니라 주파수 영역에서의 분석을 통하여 제어측면에서 오차의 한계를 규정한다.

  • Transient and asymmetric density distributions have been investigated by a digital speckle tomography with a novel integration method. Multiple CCD images captured movements of speckles in three angles of view simultaneously because the flows were asymmetric and unsteady. The speckle movements which have been formed by a ground glass between no flow and downward butane flow from an elliptical nozzle have been calculated by a cross-correlation tracking method so that those distances can be transferred to deflection angles of laser rays for density gradients. A novel integration method has been developed to obtain projection data from the deflection angles for the speckle tomography. The unsteady density fields have been reconstructed from the accurate projection values by the digital speckle tomography method using the developed integration method.

  • A thermal-hydraulic code, named CUPID, has been developed for the analysis of transient two-phase flows in nuclear reactor components. A two-fluid three-field model was used for steam-water two-phase flows. To obtain numerical solutions, the finite volume method was applied over unstructured cell-centered meshes. In steam-water two-phase flows, a phase change, i.e., evaporation or condensation, results in a great change in the flow field because of substantial density difference between liquid and vapor phases. Thus, two-phase flows are very sensitive to the local pressure distribution that determines the phase change. This in turn puts emphasis on the accurate evaluation of local pressure gradient. This paper presents a new reconstruction method to evaluate the pressure gradient at cell centers on unstructured meshes. The results of the new scheme for a simple test function, a gravity-driven cavity, and a wall boiling two-phase flow are compared with those of the previous schemes in the CUPID code.

  • An extension of our recently developed locally linear reconstruction scheme to 2 dimensional incompressible flow solver is presented. The solver is based on a semi-implicit fractional step method in which the convective term is discretized by Adams-Bashforth method and the diffusion term by Crank-Nicolson method. Several numerical examples are tested to demonstrate the mesh type independent accuracy of the solver, which include decaying vortex flow, square cavity flow, and flow around a circular cylinder. The above examples are solved on quadrilateral or hybrid meshes. For all numerical examples, we obtained reasonable results.

  • Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is applied to the analysis of 2-dimensional cylinder wake flow. Time histories of flow variables were obtained by the incompressible CFD analysis. By using the method of snapshots the correlation matrix was constructed, and then eigenvalues, POD modes and time coefficients were calculated. Finally the flow field was reconstructed by using a few of the lower POD modes, and compared to the original ones.

  • Transient and asymmetric density distributions have been investigated by three-dimensional digital speckle tomography. Multiple CCD images captured movements of speckles in three angles of view simultaneously because the flows were asymmetric and transient. The speckle movements between no flow and downward butane flow from a circular half opening have been calculated by a cross-correlation tracking method so that those distances can be transferred to deflection angles of laser rays for density gradients. The three-dimensional density fields have been reconstructed from the deflection angles by a real-time multiplicative algebraic reconstruction technique (MART).

  • Reconstruction of soft tissue defects around the knee is challenging, and the most common solution is to use various locoregional flaps or, in some difficult cases, a free flap. The distally based anterolateral thigh (dALT) flap is a commonly used flap that relies on reverse blood flow from the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery (d-LCFA). Here, we present the case of an anteromedial knee reconstruction using a dALT flap after resection of a pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma. The tumor resection resulted in a 14 × 7 cm defect, and a dALT flap, measuring 20 × 8 cm was elevated. During the surgery, we found a robust oblique branch of the LCFA (o-LCFA) sending off two sizable perforators to the anterolateral thigh region, whereas the d-LCFA was relatively small with no usable perforators. Therefore, we harvested a dALT flap relying on reverse flow from the o-LCFA. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful, and the flap survived without complications. This report demonstrates that reverse flow from the o-LCFA may be an alternative to nourish a dALT flap in cases where the d-LCFA is hypoplastic or suitable perforators from the d-LCFA are unavailable.

  • A novel adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) strategy based on the Moment-of-Fluid (MOF) method for volume-tracking dynamic interface computation is presented. The Moment-of-Fluid method is a new interface reconstruction and volume advection method using volume fraction as well as material centroid. The mesh refinement is performed based on the error indicator, the deviation of the actual centroid obtained by interface reconstruction from the reference centroid given by moment advection process. Using the AMR-MOF method, the accuracy of volume-tracking computation with evolving interfaces is improved significantly compared to other published results.
