  • The growth of $Bi_2Te_3$ thin films on (001) GaAs substrates by metal organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) is discussed in this paper. The results of surface morphology, electrical and thermoelectrical properties as a function of growth parameters are given. The surface morphologies of $Bi_2Te_3$ films were strong1y dependent on the deposition temperatures. Surface morphologies varied from step-flow growth mode to island coalescence structures depending on deposition temperature. In-plane carrier concentration and electrical Hall mobility were highly dependent on precursor's ratio of Te/Bi and deposition temperature. The high Seebeck coefficient (of $-160{\mu}VK^{-1}$) and good surface morphology of our result is promising for $Bi_2Te_3$ based thermoelectric thin film and two dimensional supperlattice device applications.

  • A two terminal N+/P/N+ junction device to replace the conventional selective transistor was studied as a bilateral switching device for spin transfer torque (STT) MRAM based on 3D device simulation. An N+/P/N+ junction structure with $30{\times}30nm$ area requires bi-directional current flow enough to write a data by a drain induced barrier lowering (DIBL) under a reverse bias at N+/P (or P/N+ junction), and high current on/off ratio of 106. The SiGe materials are widely used in hetero-junction bipolar transistors, bipolar compensation metal-oxide semiconductors (BiCMOS) since the band gap of SiGe materials can be controlled by changing the fraction and the strain epilayers, and the drift mobility is increased with the increasing Ge content. In this work, N+/P/N+ SiGe material based junction provides that drive current is increased from 40 to $130{\mu}A$ by increased Ge content from 10~80%. When Ge content is about 20%, the drive current density of SiGe device substantially increased to 2~3 times better than Si-based junction device in case of 28 nm P length, which is sufficient current to operation of STT-MRAM.

  • Due to the stronger exhaust emission regulations and the introduction of advanced technology in Diesel engine, the specific Diesel particulate matters have decreased by about one order of magnitude since the 1980's. In recent years, particle number emissions rather than particulate mass emissions have become the subject of controversial discussions. Recent results from health studies imply that it is possible that particulate mass does not properly correlated with the variety of health effects attributed to Diesel exhaust. Concern is instead now focusing on nano-sized particles. This study has been performed for the better understanding about the Diesel nano-particle measurement and size distribution characteristics in the exhaust system of a turbo charged Diesel engine. A scanning mobility particle sizer(SMPS) system was applied to measure the particle number and size concentration of Diesel exhaust particles. As the experimental results, the number concentrations in the particle size (Dp<200 nm) were very sensitive to dilution conditions. Specially the changes in nano-particle number concentrations(Dp<50 nm) increased along the downstream of exhaust flow. Also we found the dilution conditions were influencing the condensation of SOF and $H_2O$ during dilution and cooling of hot exhaust.

  • Current tanks have been developed to increase mobility and firepower, and its maximum range and destructive power are improved. This great change causes remained vibration of a gun barrel after firing. For this reason, people are trying to control vibration of gun barrel effectively. This thesis presents a modeling method and analysis results for gun barrel by using a thermal shroud as an absorber mass. DTS(Dynamically Tuned Shroud) is a vibration damping system using a thermal shroud as an added mass for decreasing remained vibration. The model has an advantage that the gun barrel's vibration can be decreased by dissipating a kinetic energy of thermal shroud without install an additional dynamic absorber to tip of the gun barrel. For analyzing the damping performance of the DTS, We derived an equation of motion of the barrel after setting a mathematical modeling, and found out the frequency analysis and tendency according to stiffness ratio between barrel and shroud.

  • Pitch precursors were synthesized from coal tar(CT) and pyrolysis fuel oil(PFO, petroleum residue oil) at relatively low temperature of $250^{\circ}$, in the presence of horontrifluorideidiethyletherate complex(BFDE) as a catalyst and nitrobenzene(NB) as a co-catalyst. The softening point, nitrogen content and carbon yield increased with an increase of concentration of NB. The pitch precursors with good spinnability were prepared by removing the volatile components through $N_2$ blowing. The precursor pitches were spun through a circular nozzle, stabilized at $310^{\circ}$ and finally carbonized at $1000^{\circ}$. The optically anisotropic structure formed at the absence of NB was changed into isotropic structure, showing a decrease in size of the flow domain. The hollow carbon fiber could be prepared in the process of stabilization. The results proposed that the morphology of carbon materials could be controlled by changing the concentration of catalyst and/or co-catalyst and/or stabilization condition that affect on the mobility of molecules during carbonization.

  • The city of Basra, established on the shore of Basra Bay in the south of modern Iraq, played an important role in agriculture and trade for centuries, with its geography and its position where two great rivers of Mesopotamia flow. Before being established with its current name by the Muslim Arabs, the city was known as Teredon in the Chaldean period and VehiŞtebad ErdeŞir in the Sasanid period. It was reestablished with the name Basra in the early period of Islam by Arabs between Hijri 14-16 (635-637 CE). Afterward, the city became one of the most important centers of trade, science and thought; had a perfect cultural diversity; and hosted important schools of Arabic language and thought for centuries. Besides the commercial effects of its being a transfer point on the axis of Europe, Mesopotamia, Iran, and India, the schools of thought which emerged here were affected by this mobility. In this paper, we try to reveal the philosophical-religious approach which the Ikhwan al-Safa school of thought in Basra, one of the most important cities of the Silk Road, created in parallel with the characteristics of this city. Shiite Ismaili beliefs and thoughts in the region and its characteristics which feed different religions and traditions emerging from Egypt and with the scientific approach of Greek thought; with Indian-Iranian teachings that merge Greek thought and Neoplatonic philosophy, give us the summary of Silk Road civilizations.

  • The purpose of the present study was to kinetically investigate the carrier-mediated uptake in the hepatic transport of organic anions, and to simulate the ″in vivo counter-transport″ phenomena, using kinetic model which was developed in this study. The condition that the mobility of carrier-ligand complex is greater than that of free carrier is not essential for the occurrence of ″counter-transport″ phenomenon. To examine the inhibitory effects on the initial uptake of a ligand by the liver, it is necessary to judge whether the true counter-transport mechanism (trans-stimulation) is working or not. The initial plasma disappearance curves of a organic anion were then kinetically analyzed based on a flow model, in which the ligand is eliminated only from the peripheral compartment (liver compartment). Moreover, ″in vive counter-transport″ phenomena were simulated based on the perfusion model which incorporated the carrier-mediated transport and the saturable intracellular binding. The ″in vivo counter-transport″ phenomena in the hepatic transport of a organic anion were well demonstrated by incorporating the carrier-mediated process. However, the ″in vivo counter-transport″ phenomena may be also explained by the enhancement of back diffusion due to the displacement of intracellular binding. In conclusion, one should be more cautious in interpreting data obtained from so-called ″in vivo counter-transport″ experiments.

  • This paper presents a distributed mobile architecture aimed to support the mobility of mobile station. The proposed architecture considers three significant objects;mobile station (MS), mobile agent (MA) which logically represents mobile station in the wireline network, and trace agent (TA) to represent application server (AS) providing application service to mobile station. The mobile agent is made closely coupled with the mobile station while the trace agent is made closely coupled with the application server. During the handoff process, a flow control mechanism is considered to correct packet loss and out-of-sequence packets problem. The result of analytic additional time delay due to handoff processing is presented and simulation was performed to check the additional time delay as well as the correctness of handoff algorithm.

  • The discharge characteristics of inductively coupled $Ar/CH_4$ plasma were investigated by fluid simulation. The inductively coupled plasma source driven by 13.56 Mhz was prepared. Properties of $Ar/CH_4$ plasma source are investigated by fluid simulation including Navier-Stokes equations. The schematics diagram of inductively coupled plasma was designed as the two dimensional axial symmetry structure. Sixty six kinds of chemical reactions were used in plasma simulation. And the Lennard Jones parameter and the ion mobility for each ion were used in the calculations. Velocity magnitude, dynamic viscosity and kinetic viscosity were investigated by using the fluid equations. $Ar/CH_4$ plasma simulation results showed that the number of hydrocarbon radical is lowest at the vicinity of gas feeding line due to high flow velocity. When the input power density was supplied as $0.07W/cm^3$, CH radical density qualitatively follows the electron density distribution. On the other hand, central region of the chamber become deficient in CH3 radical due to high dissociation rate accompanied with high electron density.

  • This study is the analysis of characteristics of hospital space for the holistic healing environment of children on the basis of the healing theory on emotion of Max L$\ddot{u}$scher and the healing theory on senses of Rudolf Steiner of the overseas children's hospitals. According to the theory of Rudolf Steiner, children make comprehensive advancement of physical, spirit and soul through the interaction of 12 senses. In addition, Max Luscher asserts that the psychological health can be maintained when the 4 emotional status in content, confidence, self-esteem and liberty make the balance. The 4 elements of Luscher have correspond with spatial expression elements for refuge, flow, prospect and void, and this is analyzed in conjunction with the eight kinds of behavior affordance of ying and yang (-, +) that helps our the advancement of 12 senses of Steiner. WORK & STUDY(+), REST(-), MOBILITY(+), VISUAL SEQUENCE(-), SOCIAL EXCHANGE(+), REFRESHMENT(-), COMMUNITY(+) and MEDITATION (-) would be the 8 kinds of behavioral affordances to make the healing environment as presented in this study and the case analysis for children's hospitals have been undertaken.
