This paper describes the realization of a coordinates tracking algorithm for an EOTS (Electro-Optical Tracking System). The EOTS stabilizes the image sensors, tracks targets automatically, and provides navigation capability for vehicles. The coordinates tracking algorithm calculates the azimuth and the elevation angle of an EOTS using the inertial navigation system and the attitude sensors of the vehicle, so that LOS designates the target coordinates which are generated by a Radar. In the error analysis, the unexpected behaviors of an EOTS due to the time delay and deadbeat of the digital signals of the vehicle equipments are anticipated and the countermeasures are suggested. The application of this algorithm to an EOTS will improve the operational capability by reducing the time which is required to find the target and support flight especially in the night time flight and the poor weather condition.

Recently, inertial sensors like gyros and accelerometers have been quite miniaturized by Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology. JAXA is developing a MEM-based GPS/INS hybrid navigation system named Micro-GAIA. The navigation performance of Micro-GAIA was evaluated through off-line analysis by using flight test data. The estimation errors of the roll, pitch, and azimuth were $0.03^{\circ}$, $0.05^{\circ}$, $0.05^{\circ}$$(1{\sigma})$, respectively. he horizontal position errors after 60-second GPS outages were reduced to 25 m CEP. The attitude errors and position errors are nearly half of ones reported previously[2]. Furthermore, using the adaptive Kalman filters, the robustness against the uncertainty of the measurement noise was improved. Comparing the innovation-based and residual-based adaptive Kalman filters, it was confirmed that the latter is robuster than the former.

In this paper, presented are the results of observability analysis for the vehicle maneuver during In-Flight Alignment of SDINS. The target system for observability analysis is 10th order one. Three trajectories for IFA are considered. To analyze the observability of the time varying system, correlation coefficient is used and to measure the degree of observability of the given system, simulation is carried out using covariance matrix. The results of simulation show that trajectories which are having continuous changes in attitude and acceleration of system is superior to straight trajectory in correcting navigation errors.

Aerial photographs taken by an image sensor fixed on a flight body, e.g. without a gimbal, are generally distorted according to its attitude, altitude and angle of view in flight. This can result in a significant difficulty of analyzing geometric information which should be integrated for numerous still frames. In this study, a simulation method of observation performance that uses geometric relationships between navigation data and image data is suggested, and this method is shown to be very useful for easily examining the integrated information such as the total range of photography, the time of target acquisition, etc.
Purpose - The goals of this study are the following. First, this study focused on customer satisfaction of in-flight service. Specifically, in-flight duty free items were considered because of their potential value related with the differentiated strategy of airline companies. Second, this study analyzed feasible strategies that would fence off the aversive attitudes of consumers toward innovation regarding in-flight duty free items. Third, this study strived to discover implicit routes related with the reactions of of consumers to innovation. Fourth, the construal level theory was applied to the context of in-flight service. Psychological distance is expected to promote acceptance of innovation for duty free items. Research design, data, and methodology - This study consisted of three experiments. All data were collected through the participation of university students. First, the experiment employed a 2×2 between-subject design. The first independent variable was temporal distance (long vs. short of navigation time). The second independent variable was innovativeness (innovative duty free items vs. typical items). Further, experiment 2 involved a 2×2 between-subject design. The first independent variable was social distance (typical vs. atypical stewardess image). The second was innovativeness that was based on a pattern similar to that of the prior experiment. The third experiment involved a 2×2×2 design. The first and second independent variables were temporal distance and item innovation, respectively, based on the method of experiment 1. The third independent variable was cognitive depletion (depletion vs. control condition). Results - Experiment 1 demonstrated that the innovation of duty free items would need to consider the journey time of the airline. Specifically, innovative items were preferred in case of a long journey; typical items, however, were liked in a short journey. Further, experiment 2 demonstrated that, in spite of a short journey, innovative items would be preferred if an atypical stewardess was serving. An atypical stewardess was linked with social distance, and the psychological effects would activate a creative and flexible mindset that would fit with innovative duty free items. The final experiment was accomplished for the examination of cognitive processing of psychological distance on innovation-acceptance. Specifically, if the effects were related with systematic processing, then cognitive effort would be needed. In contrast, if they were related with heuristic processing, then such efforts would not be required. The same pattern appeared under both cognitive depletion and control condition; therefore, the effects of psychological distance were implied to be heuristic processing. Conclusions - Managers need to consider the navigation time, stewardess concepts, and depletion of consumers as important factors for innovative strategy regarding in-flight service. Longer journeys are more successful for innovative trials. Further, a more atypical stewardess image is more successful for atypical service. Long navigation and unfamiliar stewardesses may activate creative and flexible thinking. Further, cognitive depletion of consumers is not a dominant factor of psychological distance effects, because the effects are not related with systematic processing, but with heuristic processing.

This paper deals with an acceleration controller design for a kill vehicle equipped with a divert and attitude control system (DACS). In the proposed method, the attitude control system (ACS) is used to produce the thrust command to nullify angle-of-attack. For the angle-of-attack control, a nonlinear angle-of-attack controller is proposed based on the feedback linearization methodology. Since the flight path angle is identical to the attitude angle under the condition of zero angle-of-attack, the divert control system (DCS) can directly produce the lateral acceleration which is demanded from the guidance loop. In the proposed method, we can minimize the aerodynamic uncertainty due to the propulsive force. Additionally, we can simplify the operation logic of DCS and ACS. In this paper, nonlinear simulations are performed to show the performance of the proposed method.
This paper deals with attitude control design for a thruster system which is mainly used as a control system of space vehicles. Attitude controllers are designed based on a simple blowing-down thruster system structure. In order to consider severe time-delay effects of the thruster system during controller design, the control design problem is defined based on the corresponding limit cycle analysis. Optimal roll controllers and optimal pitch/yaw controllers are resulted from co-evolutionary optimum design processes for each flight phase. The control performances are verified by computer simulations.

Image resampling according to epipolar geometry is an important prerequisite for a variety of photogrammetric tasks. Established procedures for resampling frame images according to epipolar geometry are not suitable for scenes captured by line cameras. In this paper, the mathematical model describing epipolar lines in scenes captured by line cameras moving with constant velocity and attitude is established and analyzed. The choice of this trajectory is motivated by the fact that many line cameras can be assumed to follow such a flight path during the short duration of a scene capture (especially when considering space-borne imaging platforms). Experimental results from synthetic along-track and across-track stereo-scenes are presented. For these scenes, the deviations of the resulting epipolar lines from straightness, as the camera's angular field of view decreases, are quantified and presented.

A design of attitude controller for a tiltrotor is presented augmenting L1 adaptive control, neural networks, and feedback linearization. The neural networks compensate for the modeling error caused by the lack of knowledge of tiltrotor dynamics while the L1 adaptive control allows high adaptation gains in adaptation laws thereby, satisfying tracking performance requirement. The efficacy of this control methodology is illustrated in high-fidelity nonlinear simulation of a tiltrotor by flying the tiltrotor in different flight modes from where the L1 adaptive controller with neural networks is originally designed for.

This paper describes the design of a robust H-infinity attitude controller for a quad-rotor. The linear model of a quad-rotor was estimated using PEM (Prediction Error Minimization) method with experimental input and output data. To design an attitude controller, an extended plant was constructed by adjusting several uncertainties and weighting functions. An H-infinity controller was obtained by applying H-infinity methodology to the extended plant. Through frequency-domain analysis, it was shown that the designed controller can overcome uncertainties up to 75% of the plant model. The performance and robustness of the controller were verified through time-domain simulation.
