In order to evaluate the effects of U shape ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) permanent form on the behaviors of Reinforced Concrete (RC) beam, a full scale RC composite beam is designed and tested with U shape UHPC permanent form and a reference RC beam with same parameters is tested simultaneously for comparison. The effects of the permanent form on the failure mode, cracking strength, ultimate capacity and deformation are studied. Test results shows that the contributions of the U shape UHPC permanent form to the flexural cracking behaviors of RC beam are significant. This study may provide a reference for the design of sustainable RC beam with high durable UHPC permanent form.
This paper investigates the flexural capacity of simply supported steel-concrete composite I beam and box beam under positive bending moment through combined experimental and finite element (FE) modeling. 24 composite beams are included into the experiments and parameters including shear connection degree, transverse reinforcement ratio, section form of girder, diameter of stud and loading way are also considered and investigated. ABAQUS is employed to establish FE models to simulate the behavior of composite beams. The influences of a few key parameters, such as the shear connection degree, stud arrangement, stud diameter, beam length and loading way, on flexural capacity are discussed. In addition, three methods including GB standard, Eurocode 4, and Nie method are also used to estimate the flexural capacity of composite beams and also for comparison with experimental and numerical results. The results indicate that Nie method may provide a better estimation in comparison to other two standards.
Based on Hamilton's principle, the flexural vibration differential equations and boundary conditions of the steel-concrete composite beam (SCCB) with comprehensive consideration of the influences of the shear deformation, interface slip and longitudinal inertia of motion were derived. The analytical natural frequencies of flexural vibration were compared with available results previously observed by the experiments, the results calculated by the FE model and the other similar beam theories available in the open literatures. The comparison results showed that, the calculation results of the analytical and Timoshenko models had a good agreement with the results of the experimental test and FE model. Finally, the influences of shear deformation and interface slip on the flexural natural frequencies of the SCCB were discussed. The shear deformation effect increases with the increase of the mode orders of flexural natural vibration, and the flexural natural frequencies of the higher mode orders ignoring the influence of shear deformations effect would be overestimated. The interface slip effect decrease with the increase of the mode orders of flexural natural vibration, and the influence of the interface slip effect on flexural natural frequencies of the low mode orders is significant. The influence of the degree of shear connection on shear deformation effect is insignificant, and the low order modes of flexural natural vibration are mainly composed of the rotational displacement of cross sections.
The composite slim beam has become popular throughout Europe in recent years and has also been used on some projects in China. With its steel section encased in a concrete slab, the steel-concrete composite slim beam can provide the floor construction with minimum depth and high fire resistance. However, the design method of the T-shape steel-concrete composite beam is no longer applicable to the composite slim beam with deep deck for its special construction, of which the present design models are not available but mainly depend on experiences. The elevation of the flexural stiffness and bending capacity of composite slim beams with deep deck is rather complicated, because the influences of many factors should be taken into account, such as the variable section dimensions, development of cracks and non-linear characteristics of concrete, etc. In this paper, experimental investigations have been conducted into the flexural behavior of two specimens of simply supported composite slim beam with deep deck. The emphases were laid on the bonding force on the interface between steel beam and concrete, the stress distribution of beam section, the flexural stiffness and bending capacity of the composite beams. Based on the experimental results, the reduction factor of equivalent stress distribution in concrete flange is suggested, and the calculation method of flexural stiffness and bending capacity of simply supported slim beams are proposed.

Increases in strength and ductilities of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) under direct tension and compression result in improvements of flexural behavior of reinforced steel fibrous concrete beam(RSFCB) Use of hooked steel fibers in stead of round steel fibers enhances futher the structural porperties of a beam due to their greater mechanical bond resistance compared to that of round steel fibers. Flexural strength, initial stiffness ductility and failure mechani는 of RSFCB are dependent upon material and structural parameters and among which are the volume fraction of fibers, reinforcement ratio, and casting depth of SFRC in a beam section. The flexural behavior of RSFCB's are examined experimentally in this study and some conclusions are made regarding those effects of main material and structural parameters on the overall behavior of RSFCB.
The flexural vibration characteristics of a sandwich beam system with a partially inserted viscoelastic layer were quantitatively studied using the finite element analysis in combination with the sine-sweep experiment. Asymmetric mode shapes of the flexural vibration were visualized by holographic interferometry, which agreed with those obtained by the finite element simulation. Effects of the length and the thickness of the partial viscoelastic layer on the system loss factor (η$\_$s/) and resonant frequency (f$\_$r/) were significantly large for both the symmetric and asymmetric modes of the beam system.
In the semiconductor and the optical industry, a new transport system which can replace the conventional sliding system is required. These systems are driven by the magnetic field and the conveyer belt. The magnetic field damages semiconductor and contact force scratches the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system can solve these problems. In this paper, the object transport system using the excitation of ultrasonic wave is proposed. The experiments for finding the optimal excitation frequency, finding phasedifference between two ultrasonic wave generators are performed. The relationship of transporting speed according to the change of flexural beam shape is verified. In addition, the system performance for practical use is evaluated.

Gradient elastic flexural beams are dynamically analysed by analytic means. The governing equation of flexural beam motion is obtained by combining the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory and the simple gradient elasticity theory due to Aifantis. All possible boundary conditions (classical and non-classical or gradient type) are obtained with the aid of a variational statement. A wave propagation analysis reveals the existence of wave dispersion in gradient elastic beams. Free vibrations of gradient elastic beams are analysed and natural frequencies and modal shapes are obtained. Forced vibrations of these beams are also analysed with the aid of the Laplace transform with respect to time and their response to loads with any time variation is obtained. Numerical examples are presented for both free and forced vibrations of a simply supported and a cantilever beam, respectively, in order to assess the gradient effect on the natural frequencies, modal shapes and beam response.

Modal damping characteristics of the flexural vibration of a sandwich beam with paaially inserted viscoelastic layer have been quantitatively studied using the finite element analysis in combination with an experiment. Antisymmetric mode shapes of the flexural vibration were visualized by the holographic interferometry and agreed with those calculated by the finite element simulation. Effects of the length and thickness of partial viscoelastic layers on the system loss factor($\mu$) and resonant frequency($\omega$) were considerably latge at both symmetric and antisymmetric modes of the sandwich beam.
