This paper proposes an agent-based adaptive tutoring system that monitors learning process of learners' and provides learning materials dynamically according to the analyzed learning character. Furthermore, it uses fuzzy concept to evaluate learners' ability and to provide learning materials appropriate to the level of learners'. For this, we design a courseware knowledge structure systematically and then construct a fuzzy level set on the basis of it considering importance of learning targets, difficulty of learning materials and relation degree between learning targets and learning materials. Using agent, monitoring continually the learning process of learners 'inferencing to offer proper hints in case of incorrect answer in learning assesment, composing dynamically learning materials according to the learning feature and the evaluation of assesment, our system implements effectively adaptive instruction system. Moreover, appling the fuzzy concept to the system could naturally consider and ideal with various and uncertain items of learning environment thus could offer more flexible and effective instruction-learning methods.

In this paper, we proposed a novel true time-delay (TTD) feeder for phased array antennas (PAAs) using fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and fibers coated with Cr/Au film. This structure requires less number of FBGs than the previously proposed FBG TTD feeders since one FBG is replaced with a metal film reflector in a strand of optical delay line connected to each antenna element and also provides the flexible wavelength selection since the metal film shows wide reflectance spectrum. A TTD for 10 GHz linear PAAs capable of steering beams in three different directions at 0$^{\circ}$and $\pm$30$^{\circ}$has been built. Experimental results on time delays are in good agreement with those calculated at all the steering angles. A 10 GHz linear array antenna with eight antenna elements red from the proposed TTD has been designed and the far-field radiation pattern or this antenna has been obtained by simulation.
The MDI(4,4'-diphenyl methane diisocyanate) was mixed with PPG, PEG and trimethylolpropane(TMP) respectively to prepare polyurethane resin. The various physical properties were measured for the mixtures. The gel-time was shortened by adding of PEG and TMP The molecular weight made a greater influence on the gel-time than the number of functional groups. The NCO-OH reaction was more active and faster than the NCO-NCO reaction. The hardness was influenced by crosslinking-density and molecular structure. The NCO-OH reactions yielded the flexible films and the NCO-NCO reactions yielded the brittle films. The increase of crystallinity and shrinkage induced the low adhesion ratio but the adding of TMP induced the high adhesion ratio. The flame-retardancy was influenced by quantity and kinds of flame-retardant. IXOL B-251 was the most excellent among the flame-retardants employed in this study. TCCP was partially separated because of the lack of solubility.
Four new thermotropic copolyesters were prepared and their liquid crystal properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and on a hot-stage of a polarizing microscope. Three copolyesters had same mesogenic unit, triad aromatic ester structure, interconnected through a random combination of either odd-even, or odd-odd, or even-even number of methylene groups in the polymethylene flexible spacers. Another random copolyester consisted of mesogenic units of 1 : 1 mixture of central methyl-and bromohydroquinone moieties with two flanking p-oxybenzoate units connected by decamethylene spacer. All of the polyesters formed nematic liquid crystal phase upon melting. The transitions for melting and nematic ${\to}$ isotropic transformations could be reversibly observed by DSC as well as by microscopic study. The thermodynamic properties for their liquid crystal ${\to}$ isotropic phase transitions were discussed in relation to their chemical structures.

This paper proposes a web-based adaptive tutoring system based on fuzzy set that provides learning materials and questions dynamically according to students' knowledge state, and gives advices for the learning after an evaluation. For this, we design a courseware knowledge structure systematically and then construct a fuzzy level set on the basis of it considering importance of learning targets, difficulty of learning materials and relation degree between learning targets and learning materials. Using the fuzzy level set, our system offers learning materials and questions to adapt to individual students. Moreover, a result of the test is evaluated with fuzzy linguistic variable. Appling the fuzzy concept to the tutoring system could naturally consider and deal with various and uncertain items of learning environment thus could offer more flexible and effective instruction-learning methods.
Two 3D isomorphous and isostructural complexes, namely, $[Zn(BDOA)(bpy)(H_2O)_2]_n$ (1) and $[Cd(BDOA)-(bpy)(H_2O)_2]_n$ (2); (BDOA = Benzene-1,4-dioxyacetic acid, bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine) were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by means of elemental analyses, thermogravimetric (TG), infrared spectrometry, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 crystallize in the triclinic system, space group P-1 and each metal ion in the complexes are six-coordinated with the same coordination environment. In the as-synthesized complexes, $BDOA^{2-}$ anions link central metal ions to form a 1D zigzag chain $[-BDOA^{2-}-Zn(Cd)-BDOA^{2-}-Zn(Cd)-]_{\infty}$, whereas bpy pillars connect metal ions to generate a 1D linear chain $[-bpy-Zn(Cd)-bpy-Zn(Cd)-]_{\infty}$. Both infinite chains are interweaved into 2D grid-like layers which are further constructed into a 3D open framework, where hydrogen bonds play as the bridges between the adjacent 2D layers. Luminescent properties of complex 1 showed selectivity for $Hg^{2+}$ ion.

Occupant footfalls are often the most critical source of floor vibration on upper floors of buildings. Floor motions can degrade the performance of imaging equipment, disrupt sensitive research equipment, and cause discomfort for the occupants. It is essential that low-vibration environments be provided for functionality of sensitive spaces on floors above grade. This requires a sufficiently stiff and massive floor structure that effectively resists the forces exerted from user traffic. Over the past 25 years, generic vibration limits have been developed, which provide frequency dependent sensitivities for wide classes of equipment, and are used extensively in lab design for healthcare and research facilities. The same basis for these curves can be used to quantify acceptable limits of vibration for human comfort, depending on the intended occupancy of the space. When available, manufacturer's vibration criteria for sensitive equipment are expressed in units of acceleration, velocity or displacement and can be specified as zero-to-peak, peak-to-peak, or root-mean-square (rms) with varying frequency ranges and resolutions. Several approaches to prediction of floor vibrations are currently applied in practice. Each method is traceable to fundamental structural dynamics, differing only in the level of complexity assumed for the system response, and the required information for use as model inputs. Three commonly used models are described, as well as key features they possess that make them attractive to use for various applications. A case study is presented of a tall building which has fitness areas on two of the upper floors. The analysis predicted that the motions experienced would be within the given criteria, but showed that if the floor had been more flexible, the potential exists for a locked-in resonance response which could have been felt over large portions of the building.

In this paper, the $arccos(cos^{-1})$ arithmetic unit for mobile graphics accelerator is designed. The mobile vector graphics applications need tight area, execution time, power dissipation, and accuracy constraints compared to desktop PC applications. The designed processor adopts 2nd-order polynomial approximation scheme based on IEEE floating point data format to satisfy speed and accuracy conditions and reduces area via hardware sharing structure. The arccosine processor consists of 15,280 gates and its estimated operating frequency is about 125Mhz at operating condition of $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Because the processor can execute arccosine function within 7 clock cycles, it has about 17 MOPS(million arccos operations per second) execution rate and can be applicable to mobile OpenVG processor. And because of its flexible architecture, it can be applicable to the various transcendental functions such as exponential, trigonometric and logarithmic functions via replacement of ROM and minor hardware modification.

This paper suggests that the immune algorithm can effectively be used in tuning of a PID controller. The artificial immune network always has a new parallel decentralized processing mechanism for various situations, since antibodies communicate to each other among different species of antibodies/B-cells through the stimulation and suppression chains among antibodies that form a large-scaled network. In addition to that, the structure of the network is not fixed, but varies continuously. That is, the artificial immune network flexibly self-organizes according to dynamic changes of external environment (meta-dynamics function). However, up to the present time, models based on the conventional crisp approach have been used to describe dynamic model relationship between antibody and antigen. Therefore, there are some problems with a less flexible result to the external behavior. On the other hand, a number of tuning technologies have been considered for the tuning of a PID controller. As a less common method, the fuzzy and neural network or its combined techniques are applied. However, in the case of the latter, yet, it is not applied in the practical field, in the former, a higher experience and technology is required during tuning procedure. In addition to that, tuning performance cannot be guaranteed with regards to a plant with non-linear characteristics or many kinds of disturbances. Along with these, this paper used immune algorithm in order that a PID controller can be more adaptable controlled against the external condition, including moise or disturbance of plant. Parameters P, I, D encoded in antibody randomly are allocated during selection processes to obtain an optimal gain required for plant. The result of study shows the artificial immune can effectively be used to tune, since it can more fit modes or parameters of the PID controller than that of the conventional tuning methods.

Currently, there are several newly developed energy resources for the future to replace petroleum resources such as hydrogen fuel cell, solar cell, wind power, and etc. Among them, solar cell has attracted a worldwide concern, because it has an enormous amount of resources. In general, a study of solar cells can be classified in to an area of bulk type and thin-film type. Inorganic solar cells based on silicon have been tremendously developed in technology and efficiency. However, since there are many lithographic steps, high processing temperature approximately $1000^{\circ}C$, and expensive raw materials, a manufacturing cost of device are nearly reaching a limit. Contrary to those disadvantages, organic solar cells can be manufactured at room temperature. Also, it has many advantages such as a low cost, easy fabrication of thin film, and possible manufacture to a large size. Because it can be made to be flexible, research and development on solar cells are actively in progress for the next generation. ever though an efficiency of the organic solar cell is low compared to that of inorganic one, a continuous study is needed. In this paper, we report optimal device structure obtained by a program simulation for design and development of highly efficient organic photovoltaic cells. we have also compared simulated results to experimental ones.
