하니콤 샌드위치 구조물의 수리 시 반복 경화에 따른 강도 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Strength Characteristics of HoneyComb Sandwitch Structure Due to the Repeated Curing Cycle in Repair Process)

  • Aerospace industries are widely using honeycomb sandwich structures that it has high specific strength and stiffness, chemical material resistance and fatigue resistance. But, in repairing process of damaged areas, one of the problems is that delamination can be occurred in the sound areas during and/or after the exposure to the elevated curing temperature in case that the repair process is repeated. Therefore, this study was conducted Flatwise tensile, Drum peel and Long beam flexural strength tests to evaluate the degree of degradation of mechanical properties of the honeycomb sandwich structures by affecting thermal aging. As the results, the decrease of mechanical strength was observed at the specific specimen which is exposed over 50hrs at $127^{\circ}C$.

Comparison of the biodegradability in the membranes for the guided bone regeneration: preliminary study

  • In this study, 4 different types of GBR membrane were undergone for bio-degradability test; Silk mat from silkworm cocoon (TDI), silk mat from flatwise-spun (FS), collagen membrane (OssGuide), and dPTFE membrane (Cytoplast). Each material was segmented in 10.00 mm length and 0.3 mm thickness. The samples were put into the normal saline at $37^{\circ}C$ for 2 weeks. After that, yield strength and tensile strain were measured and compared them with those of before treatment. The morphology of the membranes was observed by SEM. Tensile strain of FS was significantly increased at 2 weeks' normal saline treatment (P=0.018). When compared to OssGuide, TDI and FS showed significantly higher tensile strain at 2 weeks' normal saline treatment (P<0.05). In the SEM images, there were no significant changes in Cytoplast, TDI, and FS after 2 weeks' treatment. However, OssGuide showed damaged surface after 2 weeks' treatment. In conclusion, both TDI and FS did not have any evidence of biodegradability at 2 weeks' observation in normal saline treatment. However, OssGuide showed more than 20 % decrease in yield strength and tensile strain.

항공기용 복합재 샌드위치부품의 수리시 열간노출에 따른 물성변화에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Characteristic Changes under the Repeated Thermal Exposure in the Process of Repairing Aircraft Sandwich Structures)

  • Autoclave curing using the vacuum bagging method is widely used for the manufacture of advanced composite prepreg airframe structures. Due to increasing use of advanced composites, specific techniques have been developed to repair damaged composite structures. In order to repair the damaged part, it is required that the damaged areas be removed, such as skin and/or honeycomb core, by utilizing the proper method and then repairing the area by laying up prepreg (and core) then curing under vacuum using the vacuum bagging materials. It shall be cured either in an oven or autoclave per the original specification requirements. Delamination can be observed in the sound areas during and/or after a couple times exposure to the elevated curing temperature due to the repeated repair condition. This study was conducted for checking the degree of degradation of properties of the cured parts and delamination between skin prepreg and honeycomb core. Specimens with glass honeycomb sandwich construction and glass/epoxy prepreg were prepared. The specimens were cured 1 to 5 times at $260^{circ}F$ in an autoclave and each additionally exposed 50, 100 and 150 hours in the $260^{circ}F$ oven. Each specimen was tested for tensile strength, compressive strength, flatwise tensile strength and interlaminar shear strength. To monitor the characteristics of the resin itself, the cured resin was tested using DMA and DSC. As a results, the decrease of Tg value were observed in the specific specimen which is exposed over 50 hrs at $260^{circ}F$. This means the change or degradative of resin properties is also related to the decrease of flatwise tensile properties. Accordingly, minimal exposure on the curing temperature is recommended for parts in order to prevent the delation and maintain the better condition.

샌드위치 패널 및 내장재 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Sandwich Panels and Indoor Composite Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 샌드위치 패널 구성 요소인 면재와 심재를 변화시켜 4종류의 샌드위치 패널을 제작하였다. 그리고 제작된 샌드위치 패널의 기계적 특성과 철도차량 개발시 중요한 요인으로 작용하는 음향투과 특성 그리고 화재에서의 안정성을 확인하기 위하여 난연특성 실험을 통하여 샌드위치 패널의 특성을 검토하고자 하였다. 샌드위치 패널의 기계적 특성은 알루미늄 면재 + 알루미늄 하니컴 심재로 구성된 샌드위치 패널이 면방향 인장강도와 변방향 압축강도 특성에서 우수하며 알루미늄 면재 + 노멕스 하니컴 심재로 구성된 샌드위치 패널은 면방향 압축강도와 굽힘 강도가 우수한 것으로 확인되었다. 알루미늄 면재 + PMI 포옴 심재로 구성된 샌드위치 패널은 심재의 전단강도 및 면재의 굽힙강도가 우수하였다. 난연성 시험에서는 phenol 수지 면재와 2종의 외국 면재는 모든 시험 결과에서 유사한 견과를 확인하였다.

GFRP보강적층목재핀의 휨강도 및 인장형 전단내력 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation for Bending Strength and Tensile Type Shear Strength of GFRP Reinforced Laminated Wooden Pin)

  • 목구조물 접합부에 기존 드리프트핀(Drift pin)을 대체하고자 단판이나 합판을 유리섬유강화플라스틱(GFRP: Glass fiber reinforced plastic)과 복합 적층시킨 GFRP보강적층목재핀을 제작하였다. 더불어 GFRP보강적층목재핀을 사용하여 집성재 접합부의 인장형 전단내력 시험을 실시하였다. GFRP 배열에 따른 보강적층목재핀의 휨강도 시험결과 GFRP를 각층에 1장씩 삽입한 시험편(Type-A)이 가장 양호한 성능을 발휘하였다. 또한 압체압력 $1.96N/mm^2$, 온도 $150^{\circ}C$에서 한 시간 열압하여 고밀화한 시험편이 고밀화하지 않은 시험편과 비교하여 휨강도 성능이 1.57배 향상됨을 확인하였으며, 하중방향에 따라 Edgewise가 Flatwise보다 3.51배 높은 성능을 발휘하였다. 시험을 통해 가장 양호한 성능을 보인 Type-A 보강적층목재핀을 이용하여 전단내력 시험을 실시하였다. 접합구의 종류와 접합판의 종류를 달리하여 시험한 결과 드리프트핀과 강판을 적용한 시험체(Type-DS)와 비교하여 GFRP보강적층목재핀과 GFRP보강목재적층판을 적용한 시험체(Type-WL)가 1.12배 높은 전단내력이 측정되었으며 최대하중 이후에도 매우 양호한 인성이 관찰되었다.

Investigation on Adhesion Properties of Sandwich Composite Structures Considering on Surface Treatments

  • Recently, various kinds of study on light weight structure are performing in the world. The Al honeycomb sandwich structural type adopt for improvement of lightness and structural stability to major part structure of aircraft or spacecraft. Adhesion badness properties of adhesive and adhesion properties of fillet mainly studied about al honeycomb structure. But study for adhesive properties of sandwich construction with surface treatment of Aluminum alloy barely performed. In this study, adhesive film was used between Al and honeycomb core of honeycomb panel[1]. The study for adhesive properties of sandwich construction with surface treatment of AA 5052 skin was performed.
