  • Despite the number of backlight manufacturer is increased as the market of flat panel display equipments and related development devices is enlarged, the inspection based on the human eye is still used in many backlight production lines. The defects such as particle, spot and scratch on the light emitting surface of the backlight prevent the LCD device from displaying the colors correctly. From that manual inspection it is difficult to maintain the quality of backlight consistently because the accuracy and the speed of the inspection may change with the physical condition of the operater. In this paper we studied on the development of automatic backlight surface defect inspection system. For this, we made up of the computer vision system and we developed the main program with various user interfaces to operate the inspection system effectively. And we developed the image processing module to extract the defect information. Furthermore, we presented the labeling process to reconstruct defect regions using the labeling table and the defect index. From the experimental results, we found that our system can detect all defect regions identified from human eye and it is sufficient to substitute for the conventional surface inspection.

  • Piper Alpha disaster drew attention to the damage likely to arise from explosions and fires on an offshore platform. And great concerns have been increased to prevent these hazards. Blast wall is one of the passive safety systems; it plays a key part of minimizing the consequences. However, a buckling due to explosion loads is a factor which can reduce the strength of blast wall. The buckling often occurs between web and flange at the center of blast wall. This study aims to find a solution for reinforcing its strength by installing a flat plate at the spot where the buckling occurs. First of all, ANSYS finite element method is adopted to numerically compute the structural resistance characteristic of blast wall by using a quasi-static approach. Sequentially, the impact response characteristics of blast wall are investigated the effect on thickness of flat plate by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Finally, pressure-impulse diagrams (P-I diagram) are presented to permit easy assessment of structural response characteristics of stiffened blast wall. In this study, effective use is made to increase structural intensity. of blast wall and acquired important insights have been documented.

  • The area surrounding Segeomjeong, one of the famous pavilions near the capital in the Joseon Dynasty, was a favorite place of scholars to visit and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape. The recreational culture of Segeomjeong area in traditional societies representing the prototype of urban tourism in modern society indicates cultural landscape which is a combination of the surrounding landscape and human activities. At this point, the purpose of this research on Saegumjeong area as a recreation place was to examine recreational activities and landscape elements before restoration. Through the relevant historical literature, there were several recreational activities such as traveling to enjoy scenery, taking a view of stream with waterfalls, doing creative writing of reciting poems and drawing about the greatness of nature and gathering on a broad and flat rock or Tangchundae. Also, the main landscape elements-such as Saegumjeong, stream, broad and flat rocks, pine trees, Tangchundae Peak, and mountains-were extracted through paintings of Saegumjeong drawn before restoration. Consequently, in this study, it was confirmed that the Segeomjeong area was the spot that scholars visited consistently, the center for travel, and the place for communication between scholars and national banquets. This study is significant, in that it drew conclusions on the cultural landscape of the Korean people through the ages and helped to discover the meaning and value of cultural landscape of recreation places based on Korean natural characteristics and cultural climate.

  • There remain many royal tombs of the Goryeo Dynasty in Gaeseong and Ganghwa. During the Goryeo Dynasty, these royal tombs were taken over tradition of tomb construction style from previous generation, and they completed their own inventive style. Furthermore they handed down those style to the Joseon Dynasty. The area of tomb was divided into 3 or 4 steps, and stone figures and T-shaped houses for sacrifice were arranged on each steps. It was the stone chamber of lateral opening style which had an entrance to southward, and it was formed as a rectangular box-shaped with a pile of stone walls and a flat ceiling. There was a coffin stand in the middle of floor, and traditional bricks were around them. The wall side and ceiling had been whitewashed and painted pictures. These are general characteristics for the tomb construction style of the Goryeo Dynasty. By the way, we can notice a number of features except those general things with inspection in detail. In early days, we confirmed 1step-parallel fulcrum ceiling, coffin stand of all in one stone, bier of burial artifact, and mural of plant material as a set, but they were changed as flat ceiling, Red-stone wall with rectangular stone, coffin stand set as stone pillar through the period of transitional form as of in the late 12th century. In case of several royal tombs, the fragments of king's epitaph which were confirmed from tombs could be defined owners clearly, and there were considerable timing difference between the large numbers of celadons which were excavated with the fragments of king's epitaph and recording chronologically of stone chamber structure. The reason for timing difference is that posterity artifacts were buried through repairing courses by occasion of destruction caused by robbing of the royal tombs. Meanwhile I inferred the existing hypothesis about owners of royal tombs and autonym ones in comparison the burial spot direction of hypothesis ones and outcomes of excavation. Therethrough, some hypothesis about owners of royal tombs such as Myung-neung which was assumed as tomb of the King Choongmok were not correct.

  • In this paper, we propose a blind spots elimination system using three cameras. A wide-angle camera is attached on trunk for eliminating blind spots of a rear-view mirror and two cameras are attached on each side-view mirror for eliminating blind spots of vehicle's sides. In order to eliminate blind spots efficiently, we suggest a method to build a panoramic mosaic view with two side images and one wide-angle rear image. First, we obtain an undistorted image from a wide-angle camera of rear-view and calculate the focus-of-contraction (FOC) in undistorted images of rear-view while the car is moving straight forward. Second, we compute a homography among side-view images and an undistorted image of rear-view in flat road scenes. Next, we perform an image registration process after road and background region segmentation. Finally, we generate various views such as a cylinder panorama view, a top view and an information panoramic mosaic view.

  • To investigate the noise attenuation effects of various vegetation configurations, noise levels on 6 study sites along relatively heavy traffic roads were measured. The differences between noise level measures at 1m and 10m spots from the road range from 10 to 15dB depending upon the attributes of the vegetation. When flat grass land was set to control plot, the maximum noise attenuation at 10m spot was measured at the densely planted shrubs with 5dB difference. The areas on upward slope from the road showed the least attenuation effects. Based on the study results, an appropriate setting for low level residential area noise buffer belt would be densely planted shrubs with at least 3m width and 2m height. To be effective, 3m width soft areas covered with grasses are needed at the front and behind sides of the belt. More than 15dB of the noise level caused by the road traffic would be attenuated with the prescription.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the golf performance on transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS). Ten collegiate golfers were participated. SAMPutt basic unit was used to analyze the kinematic data of putter head. A putting platform and a tDCS were used for putting tasks. It was performed paired t-test to compare between before tDCS and after tDCS. A significant level of .05 using SPSS 24.0. Face at aim and backswing variables of putter head were significantly different during flat putting. Impact spot of putter head was significantly different during 2° of hook slope. However, there were not significantly different others slope angle. It was found that transcranial direct current stimulation had a positive effect on kinematic variables. Based on these results, further research is needed to confirm the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation on body stability during putting task.

  • In order to overcome the image quality limitations of the conventional C-arm, a flat panel detector (FPD) is used to enhance spatial resolution, detective quantum efficiency, frame rate, and dynamic range. Three-dimensional (3D) visualized information can be obtained from C-arm computed tomography (CT) equipped with an FPD, which can reduce patient discomfort and provide various medical information to health care providers by conducting procedures in the interventional procedure room without moving the patient to the CT scan room. Unlike a conventional C-arm device, a C-arm CT requires different basic safety and essential performance evaluation criteria; therefore, in this study, basic safety and essential performance evaluation criteria to protect patients, medical staff, and radiologists were derived based on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) standards in Korea, and the rules on the installation and operation of special medical equipment in Korea. As a result of the study, six basic safety evaluation criteria related to electrical and mechanical radiation safety (leakage current, collision protection, emergency stopping device, overheating, recovery management, and ingress of water or particulate matter into medical electrical (ME) equipment and ME systems: footswitches) and 14 essential performance evaluation criteria (accuracy of tube voltage, accuracy of tube current, accuracy of loading time, accuracy of current time product, reproducibility of radiation output, linearity and consistency in radiography, half layer value in X-ray equipment, focal size and collimator, relationship between X-ray field and image reception area, consistency of light irradiation versus X-ray irradiation, performance of the mechanical device, focal spot to skin distance accuracy, image quality evaluation, and technical characteristic of cone-beam computed tomography) were selected for a total of 20 criteria.

  • In radiography, an antiscatter grid is a well-known device for eliminating unexpected x-ray scatter. We investigate a new stationary grid artifact suppression method based on a nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) incorporated with Gaussian band-pass filtering. The proposed method has an advantage that extracts the Moiré components while minimizing the loss of image information and apply the prior information of Moiré component positions in multi-decomposition sub-band images. We implemented the proposed algorithm and performed a simulation and an experiment to demonstrate its viability. We did this experiment using an x-ray tube (M-113T, Varian, focal spot size: 0.1 mm), a flat-panel detector (ROSE-M Sensor, Aspenstate, pixel dimension: 3032 × 3800 pixels, pixel size: 0.076 mm), and carbon graphite-interspaced grids (JPI Healthcare, 18 cm × 24 cm, line density: 103 LP/inch and 150 LP/inch, ratio: 5:1, focal distance: 65 cm). Our results indicate that the proposed method successfully suppressed grid artifacts by reducing them without either reducing the spatial resolution or causing negative side effects. Consequently, we anticipate that the proposed method can improve image acquisition in a stationary grid x-ray system as well as in extended x-ray imaging.

  • A commercial gas field was found in the southwestern continental shelf of the Ulleung Basin, East Sea in the late 1990s. To develop additional gas field, an exploration well was drilled through the coarse infill of submarine canyon near the gas field, but it was uneconomic to develop hydrocarbons. Using newly acquired deep seismic reflection and previous well data, we have identified additional geological structure which has hydrocarbon potentials below submarine canyons in the southwestern margin of the basin. Based on the interpretation of the deep seismic reflection and well data, the sequences of the study area can be classified into the syn-rift megasequence(MS1), post-rift megasequence(MS2), syn-compressional megasequence(MS3), and post-compressional megasequence(MS4) in relation to the tectonic events. MS1, deposited simultaneously with the basin formation before the middle Miocene, is characterized by chaotic seismic facies with low- to moderate-amplitude and low frequency reflections. MS2 comprises laterally continuous, low- to moderate-amplitude reflections, showing progradational stacking patterns due to high rates of sediment supply during basin expansion in the middle Miocene. MS3 is mainly composed of continuous reflections with high amplitude and moderate- to high-frequency which are interpreted as coarse-grained sediments. The coarse-grained sediments of MS3 sequence is widely truncated by several submarine canyons which filled with fine-grained sediment of MS4 to form a stratigraphic trap of hydrocarbon. Therefore, the reservoir and seal of the hydrocarbon trap in the study area are coarse-grained sediment of MS3 and submarine canyon filled with fine-grained sediment of MS4, respectively. A flat-spot seismic anomaly, which may indicate the presence of hydrocarbon, is observed within the stratigraphic trap.
