Monitoring of OH chemiluminescence through an optical fiber was demonstrated to be a useful method in detecting self-excited combustion oscillations. OH chemiluminescence intensity detected by the optical fiber showed mostly excellent agreement with those obtained by high speed CCD camera measurements when combustion oscillations were strong. Symptoms of self-excited combustion oscillation were also studied in order to predict the onset of combustion oscillation before it proceeded to a catastrophic failure. For the purpose, we have found and proposed unique measures to tell the onset of self-excited combustion oscillations based on the careful statistics of fluctuating properties in flames, such as pressure or emission of OH radicals.

The purpose of the research is to investigate of diesel spray combustion for simultaneously reduction way of NOx and PM. The diesel injection were done into intermediates that are generated by very lean DME HCCI combustion using a RCM. The concentration of intermediate could not be directly measured, so we estimated it by CHEMKIN calculation. Two dimensional spontaneous luminescence images which are created by chemical species reaction at low temperature reaction (LTR) and high temperature reaction (HTR) are captured by using a framing streak camera. Also, combustion events were observed by high-speed direct photography. The ignition and combustion events were analyzed by pressure profiles and the KL values and flame temperatures were analyzed by the two-color method.

The prediction of performance, exhaust emissions and EGR effect is made by the SI engine cycle simulation. In this simulation several models are employed - two zome, thermodynamic combustion, mass fraction burned, heat transfer, chemical equilibrium, chemical kinetics for NOx, laminar flame speed for ignition delay. The chemical species in burned gas considered are 13 species-CO$_{2}$, CO, $O_{2}$, H$_{2}$O, H$_{2}$,OH, H, O, N$_{2}$, NO$_{2}$, N, Ar - and the cylinder pressure, burned and unburned zone temperature and composition of gas are calculated at each crank angle through the compression, ignition delay, combustion and expansion process. To check the validity of the model, experimental study is done for measuring emissions, combustion pressure and engine output. The predicted values for pressure and emissions show qualitative agreement with the measured data and the EGR effect also shows similar tendency.

Combustion characteristics of opposed-jet-flames spouting out from dual prechambers of a divided combustion chamber were investigated by using high speed schilieren photography and chamber pressure measurement. Result shows that opposed-jet-flames are characterized by the parameter ( $A_{ori}$/ $V_{p}$) and there exists a certain critical value of ( $A_{ori}$/ $V_{p}$)c which distinguishes flame propagation patterns in the main chamber. Also higher chamber pressure and shorter total burning time can be derived by adopting this dual prechamber divided combustion chamber, which would lead a possibility of an appropriate combustion method of high load and low emissions.ons.ons.
A computer simulation has been developed to predict and investigate the performance of the assumed hydrogen engine. The simulation has be come a powerful tool as it saves time and also economical when compared to experimental study. The effects of various parameters, such as equivalent ratio, spark advance, revolutions per minute were calculated and then the optimal parameters of assumed engine were determined. The effects of spark advance, revolutions per minute, cylinder pressure, rate of pressure rise, flame temperature, rate of heat release, and mass fraction burned were simulated. The objective of the research paper is to develop a internal combustion model with hydrogen as a fuel.
Waste combustion above a grate is the core process of incineration systems, stability of which should be guaranteed for emission minimization. However, complicated reactions and heat and mass transfer phenomena make understanding the process difficult. One dimensional bed combustor with a numerical combustion model is utilized to investigate the combustion process of the bed, using cubic wood particles as a simulated fuel. Bed combustion behavior is characterized with apparent flame propagation speed, which has close relationship with air supply rate and chemical and physical characteristics of the fuel. Base on the availability of oxygen, two distinct reaction zone is identified; the oxygen-limited and the reaction-limited zone leading to the extinction by excessive convection cooling. The numerical modeling shows good agreement with the experimental results. The transient bed combustion behavior of local temperature and oxygen consumption rate is adequately reproduced. The numerical model is extended to model the waste bed combustion of a commercial incineration plant, which shows meaningful results as well.
CWR technology is generally believed to contribute to the increase of train speed and bring a variety of significant advantages, such as the decrease in track works, noise and vibration as well as the improvement of passenger comfort. In CWR technology, welding is considered to be one of the most important element technologies. Among the various welding methods, gas pressure welding is the most frequently used in vicinity of train line station since the operation is simple and the instruments are not heavy. The gas pressure welding is constructed exactly by good manual book on which simple and excellent welding methods is written and has the same performance as raw material. But this can be poor in the variety of the processing of rail end surface to be welded, the control of oxyacetylene flame and axil compressive force. This study tries to describe the characteristics of gas pressure welding, defect-causing factors and preventive counterplan of defects
Recently, many researchers have been studied a D.I. diesel engine because of the exhaust gas restriction and fuel consumption performance. It is well known that the fuel injection characteristics are the key factors on the diesel combustion and exhaust emission. In this study, the fuel injection characteristics of 5-hole injector and the combustion characteristics are investigated with the amount of fuel by means of the visualization method and visualization D.I. diesel engine system. As the results of the experiments, the spray pattern of the fuel injection and the diffusion flame of a D.I. diesel engine are clarified. In addition, combustion phenomena with operation conditions such as engine speed and engine load are made clear.

Hot and high speed plume exhausted during KSLV-I flight test is cooled down by an amount of water ejected from 'gas deflector cooling system' of launch complex to reduce the effects on the launch vehicle and launch complex. In this study, simplified axisymmetric computational calculation with 2-phase is carried out to analysis the water injection effects on flow field.
This study is aimed to characterize the combustion behavior of solid fuel in the various types of the combustors: stoker, rotary kiln and fluidized bed type combustors. Three different types of reduced-scale combustors are introduced, and temperatures and flue gas compositions are measured for various fuel sizes, water contents, initial temperature, and air flow rates. In case of the rotary kiln combustor, effects of rotating speed of the combustor are also investigated. Mean carbon conversion time (MCCT) and flame propagation rate (FPR) are used for the quantitative analysis. It is revealed that the reaction rates of the fuel are significantly influenced by the fuel characteristics, type of the combustors and air flow rate. Major design parameters for each type of the combustors are summarized through the reduced-scaled model analysis.
