This study examined the growth characteristics and carbonization pattern when a fire occurs due to a flammable liquid sprinkled on a vinyl floor. When acetone was sprinkled on a floor, the flame reached its peak in approximately 0.2 s after it was ignited. The lower part of the flame showed a laminar pattern while the upper part showed a turbulent pattern. The pattern showed a turbulent pattern and generated white smoke. The combustion completed floor surface showed carbonization of a dim pore pattern. In the case of benzene, an intense flame was formed in approximately 0.6 s after ignition. The flame length was measured to be approximately 50 mm. When the flame became weak, a significant amount of black smoke was generated due to incomplete combustion. The combustion completed floor surface showed carbonization of a pour pattern and splash pattern. In the case of alcohol, an intense flame was formed in approximately 1.1 s after ignition. In addition, the depth of carbonization was significant where the flammable liquid was collected and a trace of carbonization was observed at the boundary of the flow path of the flammable liquid.

Flame pattern in burner used in steel industry that constitutes 30% of country energy consumption is generally characterized as long narrow flame pattern so that localized heating causes product quality worse and many burners are needed for proper heating. This paper deals with flat wide flame pattern which has advantage in terms of uniform heating using less number of burners. For that purpose, impinging jet system of fuel and oxidant was used for making flat wide flame. Results show that nozzle angle $75^{\circ}$ of impinging jet is found to be optimum configuration for making effective wide flame which has uniform radiation heat transfer and flame temperature is also most uniform along the flame width for that nozzle angle.
Real-scale fire tests were performed on animal-origin foods using a gas stove with no overheating prevention device. When the animal-origin foods were ignited, a large quantity of white smoke and steam was generated from them; however, when they became dry and began to carbonize, a dark smoke was generated. Even after the gas stove was overheated for more than 5400 s, mackerel, pollack, chicken, etc., did not ignite. However, pork, beef, and tuna caught fire after 2643 s, 2819 s, and 6492 s of heating, respectively. The flame patterns of animal-origin foods were in the forms of a mixed laminar flow and a turbulent flow, and a halo pattern was produced. A sand glass form of the flame pattern was generated when a kitchen hood was operated, but a triangular flame pattern was produced when the kitchen hood was not operated. When the tuna in the pot was overheated, it spontaneously ignited after 6492 s, with the surface temperature of the kitchen hood rapidly rising to 464.5 ℃. Moreover, the temperature at the back of the pot, which was 6 cm away from the outer surface of the upper part of the pot, was 869 ℃ after 6660 s because of the radiant heat. The flame formed a sand glass pattern on the kitchen wall. When the kitchen hood was not operated, or when the flame grew lower than the height of the ceiling, a triangular pattern was formed.
When a circular cylinder is placed at the center of a slot burner nozzle, once stable Woflhard-Parker type laminar lean premixed flame is changed to an oscillating flame with self-induced noise. The wrinkled flame surface showed the same pattern and frequency of the Karman vortex street at the downstream of a circular cylinder. The interaction of flame with Karman vortex street is observed to be responsible for flame oscillation. The measured flame oscillation frequency is very similar to the estimated Karman vortex shedding frequency based on the St-Re relationship of the flow past circular cylinder, which could be considered as a strong evidence for the interaction between laminar pre-mixed flame and a Karman vortex street. As Reynolds number increases oscillation frequency decreases and the self-induced noise level increases as well as the flame front is more severly wrinkled. This result suggests that the flame/vortex interaction becomes more active at higher Re.
In this paper, we analyzed carbonization pattern of Ligth Emitting Diode(LED) lamp that become burnout by outside flame. Surface side can know that void is formed greatly than central part in section analysis of electric wire that is carbonized by outside flame. Chared globe displayed special quality that lump of abnormal carbonization falls was formed, and becomes melting among carbonization process. The LED resistance of forward direction is about 1.74 [$M{\Omega}$], and backward resistance is about 140 [$M{\Omega}$]. We can know progress direction of flame through measurement of the LED resistance.

This paper deals with damage patterns of cabinet panel for low voltage deteriorated by flame. In order to analyze damage patterns, we used Metallurgical Microscope, x-ray system, and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. Firstly, Metallurgical microscope was used for analysis of electrical causes, such as electric short and overload Secondly, X-ray system was used for analysis of internal characteristics of circuit breakers. Lastly, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy was used for analysis of damage direction by flame.

This study analyzed flame growth characteristics and carbonization patterns when floor materials were burned vertically using a needle flame produced for this study. It was found that PVC flooring was fire retardant and the area under direct flame contracted inward. Vertical combustion causes solidification in the form of a lump at the bottom and also generates soot in a pattern that progresses upwards. This study found that laminated flooring exhibited no fire retarding characteristics and that the laminated layer of its upper surface was destroyed by fire, causing irregular delamination. The carbonization ranges at the left and right sides were determined to be symmetrical. A vertical combustion test of a sample carpet showed that it exhibited no fire-retarding characteristics. It was observed that if heat accumulated in the carpet, the flame formed an ascending air current, and that when flammable materials were present around the flame, they further accelerated the diffusion of the flame. The carbonization pattern at the carpet surface exposed to direct flame revealed that the carpet surface had melted and had flown downwards and that many tiny holes formed on it.

Experimental investigation on flame spread along suspended droplet arrays have been conducted with various droplet spacings and ambient air velocities. Especially, an opposed air stream is introduced to simulate fundamental flame spread behaviors in spray combustion. High-speed chemiluminescence imaging technique of OH radicals has been adopted to measure flame spread rates and to observe various flame spread behaviors. The fuel used is n-Decane and the air velocity varies from 0 to 17cm/s. The pattern of flame spread is grouped into two: a continuous mode and an intermittent one. It is found that there exists droplet spcings, above which flame spread does not occur. The increase of ambient air velocity causes the limit droplet spacing of flame spread to become small due to the increase of apparent flame stretch. As the ambient air velocity decreases, flame spread rate increases and then decreases after taking a maximum flame spread rate. This suggests that there exists a moderate air flowing to give a maximum flame spread rate due to enhanced chemical reaction by the increase of oxidizer concentration.
At previous study, nitrogen oxide emission was decreased with decreasing pressure index. This tendency was explained by the flame oscillation with changing combustor pressure. In this study, the characteristics of flame oscillation with changing combustor pressure were investigated. It can be found that flame length is extended and flame width is narrowed by decreasing combustor pressure. It can be observed that pilot flame and the surrounding air converge on the inner flame in the $P^{\ast}{\geqq}1$ conditions and that surrounding air and flow pattern was widely dispersed in the $P^{\ast}<1$ conditions. In the respect of average flame length, low fluctuation was shown in the $P^{\ast}<1$ conditions. On the other hands, large fluctuation was shown in the $P^{\ast}<1$ conditions. Flame oscillation are observed from $P^{\ast}=$ 0.98 in the condition of $P^{\ast}<1$ and the amplitude of flame oscillation becomes larger when $P^{\ast}$ is lowered. These results demonstrate that low NOx phenomenon was caused by flame oscillation with changing combustor pressure.
