Sensor and optical properties have become critical features in powder foundation. The flaky barium sulfate powder shows good smooth texture, adhesion and natural looking characteristics. However, it has limitations abilities in UV shielding, hiding and blooming effect. Thus we adopt TiO$_2$ that has excellent hiding power and blooming effect as well as UV shielding ability, but TiO$_2$ has still intrinsic problems in dispersion and texture. To overcome this disadvantages, the barium sulfate/TiO$_2$/dimethicone composite powder was prepared. The flaky barium sulfate powder was coated with TiO$_2$ in nanoscale and followed by coated with dimethicone. When this surface-modified powder was applied for make-up cosmetics, especially in powder foundation, the powder gave powder foundation more good characteristics than the original flaky barium sulfate, Ti02 powder, dimethicone in abovementioned optical and sensory properties. To characterize the distinctive features of this surface-modified powder, we measured its characteristics with UV in vitro tester, hiding powder test method, goniophotometer, consumer panel test and so on.

A magnetic composite as noise absorber of quasi-microwave band was developed. The Fe-Si-Al alloy powder were forged by attrition mill to get flaky shape. The magnetic composite sheet was fabricated in which powders are dispersed in polymer and aligned in the direction perpendicular to electromagnetic wave propagation. The permittivity of magnetic composite is increased as forging time increasing, while the permeability is decreased slightly. The maximum attenuation peak of reflection loss is shifted to lower fiequency range as milling time increasing, and the value of maximum attenuation peak is to get smaller gradually. From these result, we could designed a noise absorber sheet (t=1.0 mm) for quasi-microwave band, which is impedance matched at 1.4 GHz with respect to -8.2 dB reflection 1055.
Three different multi-component white cast irons alloyed with Cr, V, Mo and W were prepared in order to study their as-cast and solidification structures. Three combinations of the alloying elements were selected so as to obtain the different types of carbides and matrix structures : 3%C-10%Cr-5%Mo-5%W(alloy No.1), 3%C-10%V-5% Mo-5%W(alloy No. 2) and 3%C-17%Cr-3% V(alloy No.3). The as-cast microstructures were investigated with optical and scanning electron microscopes. There existed two different types of carbides, $M_7C_3$ carbide with rod-like morphology and $M_6C$ carbide with fishbone-like one, and matrix in the alloy No. 1. The alloy No. 2 consisted of MC carbide with chunky and flaky type and needle-like $M_2C$ carbide, and matrix. The chunky type referred to primary MC carbide and the flaky one to eutectic MC carbide. The morphology of the alloy No. 3 represented a typical hypo-eutectic high chromium white cast iron composed of rod-like $M_7C_3$ carbide which is very sensitive to heat flow direction and matrix. To clarify the solidification sequence, each iron(50g) was remelted at 1723K in an alumina crucible using a silicon carbide resistance furnace under argon atmosphere. The molten iron was cooled at the rate of 10K/min and quenched into water at several temperatures during thermal analysis. The solidification structures of the specimen were found to consist of austenite dendrite(${\gamma}$), $ ({\gamma}+ M_7C_3)$ eutectic and $({\gamma}+ M_6C)$ eutectic in the alloy No. 1, proeutectic MC, austenite dendrite(${\gamma}$), (${\gamma}$+MC) eutectic and $({\gamma}+ M_2C)$ eutectic in the alloy No. 2, and proeutectic $M_7C_3$ and $ ({\gamma}+ M_7C_3)$ eutectic in the alloy No 3. respectively.

The planarized $SiO_2$ particles were prepared by two-step reduction method of making much smaller particles, micron-sized ones, to improve spreadability, adherence, and smoothness. Various pigments known as flaky extender usually have terrace layers on their surfaces, but $SiO_2$ particles in this study exhibit a smooth surface structure. These single $SiO_2$ particles were used as core particles to prepare the composite particles coated with ultra fine $TiO_2$ particles by a homogeneous precipitation method. The thickness and the morphology of the deposited $TiO_2$ layers could be modified by adjusting the reactant concentrations, the reaction time and the temperature. The characteristics of $SiO_2/TiO_2$ composite in the field of color cosmetics are to give an UV-cut effect and to enhance the chroma of human skin color, one of optical properties.
A magnetic-field tunable 2.4 GHz microwave bandpass filter having insertion loss < -5dB on an FR4 substrate with the flaky magnetic material was designed and characterized. The tunability in the designed bandpass filter was achieved by adhering soft magnetic materials on top of the device. This soft magnetic material can be composed of ferromagnetic substance or ferrimagnetic substance. The performance of the designed bandpass filter under its influence is investigated. The frequency offset ratio changes over 30 %. There is over 20 % change in the center frequency towards the lower frequency region due to this application. These magnetic material layers achieved the center frequency shift and bandwidth extension without actually changing the original structure of the device.

The oxidation behavior of a two-phase(Ti3Al+TiAl) intermetallic compound, Ti-33.8wt%Al, has been in-vestigated in air at 800, 900 and $^1000{\circ}C$. Though the isothermal oxidation behavior followed a parabolic law up to 100$0^{\circ}C$ indicating that protective oxide scales were formed, the cyclic oxidation behavior followed a lin-ear law in the entire temperature range tested because flaky or stratified scales were usually spalled from the surface during cooling. During oxidation at 80$0^{\circ}C$, the alloy showed excellent oxidation resistance because continuous protective Al2O3 films were formed on the outermost surface of the alloy. However, above $900^{\circ}C$, the oxidation resistance of the alloy was decreased gradually because relatively non-protective TiO2 scales as well as some of Al2O3 scales were formed on the outer oxide scale. The oxidation mechanism of the alloy at different temperature was proposed.

High frequency electromagnetic(EM) waves are increasingly being applied in industries because of saturationat lower frequency bands as a result of huge demand. However, electromagneticinterference (EMI) has become a serious problem, and as a result, highfrequency EM absorbers are now being extensively studied. Also, recentdevelopments in absorber technology have focused on producing absorbers thatare thin, flexible, and strong. Hence, one-dimension ferrous nano-materials area potential research field, because of their interesting electronic andmagnetic properties. Commercially, EM wave absorbing products are made ofcomposites, which blend the insulating polymer with magnetic fillers. Inparticular, the shape of the magnetic fillers, such flaky, acicular, or fibrousmagnetic metal particles, rather than spherical, is essential for synthesizingthin and lightweight EM wave absorbers with higher permeability. High aspectratio materials exhibit a higher permeability value and therefore betterabsorption of the EM wave, because of electromagnetic anisotropy. Nanowires areusually fabricated by drawing, template synthesis, phase separation, selfassembly, and electrospinning with a thermal treatment and reduction process.Producing nanowires by the electrospinning method involves a conventionalsol-gel process that is simple, unique, and cost-effective. In thispresentation, Magnetic nanowire and dielectric materials coated magneticnanowire with a high aspect ratio were successfully synthesized by theelectrospinning process with heat treatment and reduction. In addition toestimating the EM wave absorption ability of the synthesized magnetic anddielectric materials coated magnetic nanowire with a network analyzer, weinvestigated the possibility of using these nanowires as high-frequency EM waveabsorbers. Furthermore, a wide variety of topics will be discussed such as thetransparent conducting nanowire and semiconducting nanowire/tube with theelectrospinning process.
We performed this study to understand the health status and food intake of North Koreans. Information was collected by individual closed in-depth interviews of 11 escapers from North Korea as well as books, newspapers and North Korean movies. Interviews were done from October, 1996 to May, 1997, covering their heights and weights, their appearance and disease, food system and intake of various main/side foods, concern about health and hygiene. North Korean's height and BMI were lower than those of South Koreans. Difference of BMIs between North and South Koreans was profound in middle aged women than in other age groups. Childrem showed many malnutrition appearances of moon face, large abdomem, arrow-like legs, flaky skin, decolored hair, etc.. Main foods in North Korea were rice-shaped corn, corn flour, wheat flour and wet noodle, and side foods were kimchi and/or soups and steamed soy paste. Food supply system there seemed not to work normally for many years, so foods, especially in cities, has been extremely short in government-operating shops, but some in private market. Many housewives were eager to make and sell simple snack food products, We noticed that North korea schools didn't check students' health even though their medical policy was based on preventive medicine. Their living environmental hygiene was shown to be oyt of control.
Through component regulation and morphological construction, it is of considerable significance to develop high-activity and high-stability electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution in electrolytic water. In the hydrothermal process, Mo-doped nickel-based sulfide catalysts (Mo-NiS-Fx) with a variety of morphologies (prisms, rods, flakes, and cones) were created by adding NH4F with varying masses. Among these, the flaky Mo-NiS-F1.2 exhibited exceptional performance towards electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction, surpassing most similar catalysts with an overpotential of 79 mV at 10 mA cm-2 and a Tafel slope of 49.8 mV dec-1. Significantly, Mo-NiS-F1.2 maintained its high activity for hydrogen evolution over 60 h at a current density of 10 mA cm-2, making it suitable for widespread commercial application. According to the experimental findings, an electrocatalyst with a high surface area and a porous structure is better suited to exposing more gas transfer routes and active sites, which would encourage the hydrogen evolution reaction. This study presents a straightforward procedure for creating electrocatalysts with a range of morphologies, which can serve as a model for the creation of catalysts for use in industrial manufacturing.
