  • In order to improve the coverage and achieve massive spectrum access, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technology is applied in millimeter wave massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) communication network. However, the power assumption of active sensors greatly limits its wide applications. Recently, Intelligent Reconfigurable Surface (IRS) technology has received wide attention due to its ability to reduce power consumption and achieve passive transmission. In this paper, spectral efficiency maximum problem in the millimeter wave mMIMO-NOMA system with IRS is considered. The sparse RF chain antenna structure is designed at the base station based on continuous phase modulation. Furthermore, a joint optimization problem for power allocation, power splitting, analog precoding and IRS reconfigurable matrices are constructed, which aim to achieve the maximum spectral efficiency of the system under the constraints of user's quality of service, minimum energy harvesting and total transmit power. A three-stage iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the above mentioned non-convex optimization problems. We obtain the local optimal solution by fixing some optimization parameters firstly, then introduce the relaxation variables to realize the global optimal solution. Simulation results show that the spectral efficiency of the proposed scheme is superior compared to the conventional system with phase shifter modulation. It is also demonstrated that IRS can effectively assist mmWave communication and improve the system spectral efficiency.

  • A combination of two specifically different pigments, phycoerythrine and chlorophyll, gives the laver shining black color. This shining black color is the dominant factor in deciding tile quality of the dried product of laver (dried laver). Therefore, this experiment was carried out to know the effect of tannic acid as a pigment fixing agent. Raw laver, Porphyra spp., was treated with tannic acid solutions to prevent dissolution of biliproteins especially phycoerythrine in to the fresh water. This danger is mostly revealed when the chopped and shredded lavers are suspended in fresh water before the laver sheets are finally made. The influence of mechanical damage with different diameters of chopper plate on dissolution of the pigment was also mentioned. Theresultsobtainedareasfollows: 1. When the raw laver not yet chopped was stored for 3 days at $1\~5^{\circ}C$ in a dark place, the contents of chlorophyll and phycoerythrine decreased. 2. In the organoleptic test (Table 2,3,4),: the dried laver with a good coloration and surface gloss was obtained from a chopper plate with 7 mm or 3 mm. 3. A tannic acid solution of $0.02\%$ and $0.004\%$ appeared effective In preventing dissolution of phycoerythrine.

  • Numerical analysis of high Mach number flow over a blunt-body poses many difficulties and various numerical schemes have been suggested to overcome the problems. However, the new schemes were used in the limited fields of applications because of the lack of field experience compared to more than 20 years old numerical schemes and the intricacies of modifying the existing code for the special application. In this study, some tips to overcome the numerical difficulties in solving the 3D high-Mach number flows by using Roe's scheme, the most widely used for the past 25 years and adopted in many commercial codes, were examined without a correction of the algorithm or a modification of the CFD code. The well-known carbuncle phenomena of Riemann solvers could be remedied even for an extremely high Mach number by applying the entropy fixing function and a unphysical solution could be overcome by applying a simply modified initial condition regardless of the entropy fixing and grid configuration.

  • Alumina fibre has been synthesized successfully by sol-gel technique. Boehmite sol was prepared by hydrolyzing aluminium iso-propoxide and peptizing it with nitric acid. The stable sol thus obtained was used for fibre drawing when their viscosity reached the required value as a result of progress of the hydrolyzation and polycondensation reaction. The fibres dried at 11$0^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours were sintered at 1$600^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours. A reasonable sintered density with better microstructure and strength have been attained using 2 wt% of urea, magnesia and silica as sinter additives. Thermal analysis with sintering additives of 2 wt% and phase determination of the heat treated fibres using XRD and FT IR spectra confirms the phase transitions. The observation of surface and cross-section of the fibres were made using SEM. Fibres of uniform circular cross-section is obtained by fixing the shape in a setting solution.

  • In this study, which focuses on ice storage, a fundamental study in cooling and solidification was performed, including the interesting phenomena of density inversion, supercooling and dendritic ice. A numerical study was performed for natural convection and ice formation considering existence of subcooling and dendritic ice were analyzed numerically by using finite difference method and boundary fixing method. In the mesh, the solid fraction was introduced with adding as a term to the energy conservation equation. A flow in the dendrite was modelled as a flow in a porous medium, and the momentum conservation equation was modified to incorporate resistance forces involved in flows through porous media. A numerical solution of the time dependencies of dendrite area and dense ice front was successfully obtained, and the numerical results were good agreement with experimental results. Based on this methodology, a discussion was made of phenomena and characteristics of cooling and freezing processes under various conditions.

  • In this paper, we consider the routing and wavelength assignment problem in survivable WDM transport network without wavelength conversion. We assume the single-link failure and a path protection scheme in optical layer. When a physical network and a set of working paths are given, the problem is to select a link-disjoint protection path for each working path and assign a wavelength for each working and protection path. We give an integer programming formulation of the problem and propose an algorithm to solve it. Though the formulation has exponentially many variables, we solve the linear programming relaxation of it by using column generation technique. We devise a branch-and price algorithm to solve the column generation problem. After solving the linear programming relaxation, we apply a variable fixing procedure combined with the column generation to get an integral solution. We test the proposed algorithm on some randomly generated data and test results show that the algorithm gives very good solutions.

  • We consider a hybrid combiner design for downlink massive multiple-input multiple-output systems when there is residual inter-user interference and each user is equipped with a limited number of radio frequency (RF) chains (less than the number of receive antennas). We propose a hybrid combiner that minimizes the mean-squared error (MSE) between the information symbols and the ones estimated with a constant amplitude constraint on the RF combiner. In the proposed scheme, an iterative alternating optimization method is utilized. At each iteration, one of the analog RF and digital baseband combining matrices is updated to minimize the MSE by fixing the other matrix without considering the constant amplitude constraint. Then, the other matrix is updated by changing the roles of the two matrices. Each element in the RF combining matrix is obtained from the phase component of the solution matrix of the optimization problem for the RF combining matrix. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs better than conventional matrix-decomposition schemes.

  • This paper proposes new criteria to fix hidden neuron in Multilayer Perceptron Networks for wind speed prediction in renewable energy systems. To fix hidden neurons, 101 various criteria are examined based on the estimated mean squared error. The results show that proposed approach performs better in terms of testing mean squared errors. The convergence analysis is performed for the various proposed criteria. Mean squared error is used as an indicator for fixing neuron in hidden layer. The proposed criteria find solution to fix hidden neuron in neural networks. This approach is effective, accurate with minimal error than other approaches. The significance of increasing the number of hidden neurons in multilayer perceptron network is also analyzed using these criteria. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations were conducted on real time wind data. Simulations infer that with minimum mean squared error the proposed approach can be used for wind speed prediction in renewable energy systems.

  • A fast and sensitive protein staining method in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) using both an acidic dye, Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 (CBBR) and a basic dye, Neutral Red (NR) is described. It is based on a counter ion-dye staining technique that employs oppositely charged two dyes to form an ion-pair complex. The selective binding of the free dye molecules to proteins in an acidic solution enhances the staining effect of CBBR on protein bands, and also reduces gel background. It is a rapid staining procedure, involving fixing and staining steps with short destaining that are completed in about 1 h. As the result, it showed two to fourfold increase in sensitivity comparing with CBBR staining. The stained protein bands can be visualized at the same time of staining.

  • The use of Hermite cubic element, as a possible finite element computation of transport equations containing shocks, has been invesigated. In the present paper the hermite cubic elements are applied to both linear and nonlinear scalar one and two dimensional equations. In the one dimensional problems, numerical results by the hermite cubic element show better than those by the linear element, and the steady state solution by the hermite cubic element yields result with good resolution. This fact proves the superiority of the hermite cubic element in space differencing. In two dimensional case, the results by the hermite cubic element shows a boundary instability, and the use of higher order time differencing method may be necessary for fixing the problem.
