  • The sea-communication fishing equipment installed on small vessels such as offshore fishing vessels is highly dependent on foreign products due to its high dependence on foreign products. From the perspective of domestication, the development of localization at the overseas level is underway, and we intend to demonstrate it by creating a dedicated testbed in order to secure track records. In this paper, we wanted to derive the testbed shape and design method through basic research for the design of the testbed.

Analysis of Species Assemblages Caught by Large-pair-Trawler in Korean Waters (한국 근해 쌍끌이대형저인망어업의 어종군집 분석)

  • The fishing grounds of Korean large-pair trawlers have shifted since exclusive economic zones (EEZs) were established in a fisheries agreement involving countries neighboring Korean waters. The distributions of marine ecosystems and fisheries resources have been changing with environmental changes such as global warming and with the shift in species targeted as a result of changes in fishing technology and fishing gear. This study analyzed variation in the species assemblages caught in Korean waters by large-pair trawlers as a result of these geopolitical and environmental changes. The data used in this study were obtained from the Fishery Production Statistics of Korea and the Port Sample Survey of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) from 1990 to 2007. Hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) and correspondence analysis (CA) were used to explore the characteristics of the catch-species composition. The overall variation in the species composition of the catch of Korean large-pair trawlers showed that the proportions of croaker Johnius grypotus, small yellow croaker Larimichthys polyactis, eel Anguilla japonica, and blue crab Portunus trituberculatus decreased, whereas those of hairtail Trichiurus lepturus, Spanish mackerel Scomberomorus niphonius, anchovy Engraulis japonicus, and common squid Todarodes pacificus increased in Korean waters over the 18-year period. The results of the HCA of the annual catch data by species showed four different distributions of fish species according to year. Results of the CA showed that the species assemblages differed between the 1990s and 2000s.

  • In the field of research of seakeeping quality, much development has been made incent years using the method of calculation based on the strip theory. It is indispensable to grasp quantitatively the seaworthiness of a ship in order to draw correct design at initial stage and to perform proper operations at sea services. In this paper, the responses of three fishing vessels are calculated using statistical and spectral analyzing method to get the characteristics of the motion response. From the theoretical result we know that the significant values of the pitching and rolling motion can be signiicantly affected by not only the ship's tonnage but also the mean wave period in spite of the similar sea environment. So we can apply these expected results to the safe maneuvering and fishing operations in rough weather conditions by combining environmental circumstance with the stability condition of vessels.

  • Fishing villages have rich potential on account of serving as a base of fishing activities with various maritime ecosystem, culture and maritime resources as well. The object of the study is ports located in Gijang, Busan and it presents the overall development direction in ports within this area. Through systematic and well-planned developing small-sized ports, this research analyzes regional economic implications by improving settlement conditions for fishing villagers scattered around this area taking the ports' natural traits into consideration. The research correlates regional input output analysis by fishing port arrangement project with connection between inter-industries and inter-regions according to the model of input-output analysis and attempts to systematically analyze regional economic structure with the economic implication divided into production, employment and income, influenced upon by the change of political exogenous variable.

  • Along with the development of information and communication technology, maritime communication systems also have been actively studied for navigation and communication equipment aiming at safety, efficiency, accuracy and security. However, for fishing ship over 100km far from the coast, it is difficult to manage such as location and status of ship. Therefore, in this study, for the safety of the long distance ship through Digital-HF communication system, we use method to choose the optimum frequency and it enables to check the position of ship.

  • For evaluation of maritime power, the attributes of sea power are identified in this paper by system analysis method. A many fundmental factors of sea power are selected by survey of the extensive and thorough literatures on maritime power. And the factors are classified into 11 standard attributes by cluster method. The 11 standard attributes are as follows: geographical condition, character of territory, character of the people, maritime will of the government, shipping power, navel power, shipbuilding power, fishing power, ocean research and development, dependence on seaborne trade, number of ocean population. As the sub-attributes of the standard attributes, 37 composite factors and some basic factors are defined through careful survey and discussion with some experts. As the result of this study, the maritime power is systematically identified as maritime power system. And it is realized that the evalution of maritime power system is the hybrid MADM problem with both quantitative and qualitative factors.

  • Radio equipment for maritime service and navigation aids installed on fishing vessels are required to comply with the performance standards KN60945_60533 that apply IEC 60945. The LTE-M transceiver was excluded from the target because it did not belong to the radio equipment of the ship station, and it acted as a cause of audible noise in the radio equipment for maritime service installed in the fishing vessel due to interference by radiated emission or conducted emission. In this paper, we analyze the impact of interference based on related cases and present institutional solutions for the diversification of LTE-M.

Industrial Fluctuations and Locality of Busan with Records (기록으로 본 부산의 산업변동과 로컬리티)

  • This study analyzes the process of growth of Busan from a fishing village to the capital city of South Gyeongsang Province and the central city of transportation and commerce, and an industry with records. The results of the analysis are as follows: after the port opened in 1876, there has been a decline in settlement spaces in Dongnae; on the other hand, there has been an increase in migration spaces around the port of Busan. Waegwan (倭館) nearby Yongdusan Mountain (龍頭山) was changed to the Japanese concession; thus, the number of Japanese moving into Busan had rapidly increased. As a result, the Japanese government carried out reclamation work for securing available lands for the construction of port facilities and other facilities. The Japanese government built public offices and houses, as well as production facilities for daily necessities around the port of Busan. The opening of the Seoul Busan railway (京釜線) and the cross-channel liner between Busan and Shimonoseki (釜關連絡船) led to the growth of Busan and the development of its status. At this time, as the main industry of Busan was trade, Busan had grown as a commercial city. As Busan had grown as a central city of transportation and commerce, the provincial government building of Gyeongsangnam-do (慶尙南道) moved to Busan. Thus, Busan became the central city of local politics and administration. After the Land Survey Project, a large scale of farmers were recruited for low-wage work in the new port. Because of the abolition of the corporation law, Japanese capitalists moved into their colony in Busan. There, large-scale factories, such as the Joseon cotton textile factory, were established. Through this process, the locality of Busan was changed from a fishing village to a commercial city and, finally, to a city of commerce and industry.

  • This study is on the formation and the development process of urban space by referring to the literature in Yeosu where is the important location in logistics & transportation and maritime since the Japanese colonial period. There are many factors and results of the development process in Yeosu by the opening port, railroads, loads and industries. The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the formation process of urban space and the characteristics of physical space in Yeosu. The results are as follow; The urban formation and development process in Yeosu where was a small fishing village in the 1910s is largely divided into four processes. Formation: the population increased due to constructions such as of a railroad, a port, and roads and there were many reclamations around the center of the old city center in the Japanese colonial period. Stagnation: There was no urban development due to stagnation, war, and the Yeo-sun Incident. Expand: the industrialization of the Yeocheon Industrial Complex and Gwangyang Steel and other areas around Yeosu led to a surge in Yeosu's population. To cope with this, the city was expanded through three land readjustment projects and the development of large-scale residential complexes. Decline and Remodeling: Yeosu's urban space declined due to the decline of fisheries and the decrease in marine and railway logistics. And the expansion and improvement of the transportation network for hosting the Yeosu World Expo increased the accessibility of the old city center, transforming it into a tourist city using cultural heritage and nature.

  • This paper diagnosed the assessment problems and development types of the simple statement of the Sea Area Utilization Consultation System. and suggested the key assessment items for system improvement. The major types of Public Water occupation and use, and distribution characteristic of regional and coastal were analyzed by evaluate 529 review items during 2010-2012. The artificial structure installation including harbor and fishing port facilities in the South and West coast, and seawater supply and drainage for land-based aquaculture and power plant were dominated. The checklists considering each types of occupation and use in Public Water were suggested. In addition, policy proposals for system improvement were suggested.
