Various antibiotics, that could induce the appearance of resistant microorganisms, have been used for treatment or prevention of bacterial diseases in marine and ornamental fish. We determined and characterized the level of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and proportion of multi-drug resistant bacteria in intestinal microflora of both marine fish cultured in Korea and imported ornamental freshwater fish. For this the bacterial species and resistance to antibiotics were investigated in intestine of rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatus cultured in Korea and pearl gourami Trichogaster leeri imported from Singapore to characterise. Although the bacterial species were different, proportions of resistant bacteria to single antibiotics or multi-drug were higher in intestinal microflora of pearl gourami Trichogaster leeri imported from Singapore than in rock bream Oplegnathus fasciatus cultured in Korea. These results indicate that various antibiotics have been being used before trading without measures in the market of asian ornamental fishes, providing high risks for the emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria.

In this paper, we have researched about how to detect the fish robot objects in aquarium. We had used designed fish robots DOMI ver1.0, which had researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. The model of the robot fish is analysis to maximize the momentum of the robot fish and the body of the robot is designed through the analysis of the biological fish swimming. We are planned to non-external equipment to find the position and manipulated the position using creating boundary to fish robot to detect the fish robot objects. Also, we focused the detecting fish robot in aquarium by using boundary algorithm. In order to the find the object boundary, it is filtering the video frame to picture frames and changing the RGB to gray. Then, applied the boundary algorithm stand of equations which operates the boundary for objects. We called these procedures is kind of image processing that can distinguish the objects and background in the captured video frames. It was confirmed that excellent performance in the field test such as filtering image, object detecting and boundary algorithm.

In this paper, the designed fish robot is researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. This paper is a study on how the outside technology merely to find the location of fish robots without specific sensor or internal devices for these fish robot. The model of the fish is designed to detect the position of the optical flow of the Robotic Fish in the Simulink through Matlab. This paper intends to recognize the shape of the tank via a video device such as a camera or camcorder using an image processing technique to identify the location of the robotic fish. Here, we are applied to the image comparing algorithm by using the average color weight algorithm method. In this, position coordinate system is used to find the position coordinates of the fish to identify the position of the Robotic fish. It was verified by the performance test of design robot.
The purpose of this paper is to develop a new submersible fish cage operated by a pneumatic system for offshore aquaculture. Although some researchers have investigated modeling and control of fish cages, such cages consist of variable ballast tanks that with closed cylinders and thus present a maintenance issue. In solving the issue the new submersible fish cage investigated consists of bottom-opening cylinders. Accordingly, we designed a mathematical model of the concept and applied Sliding Mode Control for nonlinear angle control. Some experiments conducted under assumed conditions indicate that the angle of the system converges to zero under all conditions and the control has the stability to balance the fish cage.

Fish school monitoring technology is utilized for various purposes, such as boat fishing and resource surveys. With advancements in information and communication technology, this technology has expanded its application to remote areas. Its significance has grown in fishing sites, particularly for improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of set-net fishing. Set-net fishing gears are not limited to coastal areas, but are also installed in inland and remote sea regions. Consequently, fishermen require technology that allows them to quickly transmit information about approaching fish schools and enables them to perform long-term monitoring. The development of remote monitoring technology for set-net fish schools must consider crucial design factors such as communication range, transmission speed, power consumption of information modules, and operational expenses. In this study, we developed a low-power remote monitoring module for set-net fish school based on WCDMA. The module was specifically designed to minimize power consumption, allowing for communication over long distances and extended operation times in set-net fishing applications. Furthermore, we developed a web server software application that enables remote access to fish schools and provides real-time weather information. The performance of the developed module was evaluated through set-net fishing site application and experiments with moving ships on the sea. The experimental results demonstrated that the remote monitoring system, consisting of the developed low-power remote monitoring module for set-net fish school based on WCDMA and a fish finder, had an average power consumption of 4.6 W, a maximum communication range of 22.84 km, and a data transmission and reception rate of 98.79%. The maximum fish school information transmission and reception rate was 97.26%

The moving behaviour of Yellowtail Seriola quinqueradiata schools in the main-net of a large scale set-net was investigated in relation to the catching function of the funnel-net by a scanning sonar. The investigation was took place in the Kishihata set-net fishing ground located in Nanao city Ishigawa prefecture, Japan from Nov. 9 to Nov. 13, 1992. The obtained results are summarized as follows; 1. Fish schools showed the greatest number at the playground in the morning and at the bag-net in the afternoon. The fish schools remained long time in the main-net. 2. The rate of fish school through the funnel-net was smaller than that of fish school which is though the playground and bag-net. Because the Yellowtail school changed the shape of school in passing the funnel-net. 3. The rate of entering the bag-net was 24%, among the fish school heading to the outer funnel-net. But, the rate of escaping to the playground was 27%, among the fish school heading to the inner funnel-net. It seems that the structure of the outer funnel-net was not enough to lead the fish to the bag-net. However, the structure of the inner funnel-net was very effective at preventing escape. 4. It is appropriate to haul the net in the morning in considering the number of accumulated fish in the bag-net during the survey.
Anemarrhena asphodeloides, a medicinal plant, has chromosome number of 2n=2x=22. To characterize the somatic metaphase chromosomes, physical mapping of 45S and 5S rDNAs using McFISH (multi-color fluorescence in situ hybridization) was applied. Two pairs of 45S rDNA loci were detected on the terminal regions of the short arm of chromosomes 1 and 3. A pair of 5S rDNA signal was observed on the short arm of chromosome 3. 5S rDNA site seemed to be the same locus as one of the 45S rDNA site. McFISH was very useful tool for the localization and identification of rDNAs on the metaphase chromosomes in A. asphodeloides.
A survey was performed to investigate the infection status of fishborne trematode (FBT) metacercariae in freshwater fish from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. A total of 307 freshwater fish of 31 species were collected from 5 administrative regions of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They were examined by artificial digestion method from July 2003 to August 2004. No metacercariae were detected in fish from Fusui-xian. In fish from Mashan-xian and a market in Nanning, 3 species of metacercariae, Haplorchis taichui, Haplorchis pumilio, and Centrocestus formosanus, were mainly detected. Metacercariae (8 in number) of Clonorchis sinensis were found in 1 Chanodichthys dabryi purchased from a market in Nanning. In fish from Yangshuo, Metagonimus yokogawai metacercariae were detected from all 18 fish species examined. Total 13 C. sinensis metacercariae were found in 3 out of 10 Hemibarbus maculatus from Yangshuo. All7 Zacco platypus from Yangshuo were infected with 8-112 Echinochasmus perfoliatus metacercariae. In fish from Binyang-xian, H. pumilo metacercariae were mainly detected in all 5 fish species examined, and only 1 metacercaria of C. sinensis was found in a Hemiculter leucisculus. From the above results, it was confirmed that some species of freshwater fish play a role of second intermediate hosts for FBT in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. In particular, 4 species of intestinal flukes, M. yokogawai, H. taichui, H. pumilio, and C. formosanus, were prevalent in fish hosts, whereas C.sinensis metacercariae were detected only in 3 fish species.
The infection status of zoonotic trematode metacercariae was investigated in a total of 2,293 freshwater fish collected from 11 rivers or streams in 9 administrative regions of Gangwon-do, Korea for 5 years (2009-2013). All fish were collected by netting methods and examined using the artificial digestion methods. Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae were detected in 4 fish species, i.e., Pungtungia herzi, Squalidus japonicus coreanus, Acheilognathus rhombeus, and Ladislabia taczanowskii, from only Hantangang in Cheorwon-gun. Metagonimus spp. metacercariae were found in 1,154 (50.3%) fish and their average number per infected fish was 55.8. Among the positive fish species, especially Tribolodon hakonensis from Namdaecheon in Yangyang-gun and Plecoglossus altivelis from Osipcheon in Samcheok-si were most heavily infected. Centrocestus armatus metacercariae were detected in 611 (26.7%) fish and the average metacercarial burden per infected fish was 1,032. Two chub species, Zacco platypus and Zacco temminckii were highly and heavily infected with C. armatus metacercariae in almost all regions surveyed. Echinostoma spp. metacercariae were also found in 24 fish from a few localities, but their numbers per fish infected were very low. From the above results, it is confirmed that the metacercariae of intestinal flukes, especially Metagonimus spp. and C. armatus, were heavily infected, while C. sinensis metacercariae were rarely found in fish from Gangwon-do, Korea.

Uptake efficiencies of PCB 153 in fathead minnow through food chain of sediment-midge-fish were evaluated. Contaminated fish food, the midge Chironomus plumosus was prepared by exposing to sediments with PCB 153. We could harvest the midges with body PCB 153 levels of ∼ 1.0 mg/g and ∼ 10.0 mg/g, respectively, in 2 wk of exposure. PCB 153 level in fish fed with midge of 10.0 mg/g PCB 153 (high-dose group) reached its highest at 11.2 mg/g after 30 d of exposure. However, PCB level in fish fed with midge of 1.0 mg/g PCB 153 (low-dose group) kept increasing following first order rate kinetics until the end of exposure (38 d). When the fish food was changed to the uncontaminated ones, the fish body PCB levels were stabilized in ∼ 3 wk. The uptake efficiency in high-dose fish group was 37%, whereas low-dose group was 55%. Uptake efficiencies in fathead minnows were notably lower than that of pike (∼ 70%). This finding suggests that the uptake efficiency of this PCB congener may depend on the amount of the PCB in diet.
