동해 남부 연안해역 통발에서 채집된 어류 군집의 계절변동과 연간변동 (Seasonal and Interannual Variation in Species Composition of Fish Assemblages Collected by Pots in the Southern Coast of East Sea, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 동해 남부 연안해역 통발에서 채집된 어류 종조성의 계절 및 연간변동을 조사하였다. 어류 시료는 2005년에서 2008년까지 계절별로 채집하였다. 조사기간 동안 24과에 속하는 32종의 어류가 채집되었다. 우점종은 붕장어 (Conger myriaster), 미역치 (Paracentropogon rubripinnis), 꼼치 (Liparis tanakae), 쌍동가리 (Parapercis sexfasciata), 먹장어 (Eptatretus burgeri), 청어 (Clupea pallasii pallasii)였으며, 이들 6종은 총채집개체수의 91.9%를 차지하였다. 어류 군집의 출현종수, 개체수, 생체량, 다양도는 계절변동을 나타내었는데, 출현종수와 개체수는 2008년 8월에 가장 높았고, 생체량과 다양도는 2005년 8월에 가장 높았다. ANOSIM 분석 결과, 2008년 어류 종조성은 다른 년도와 유의한 차이를 나타내었다. 반면 계절별 채집 종조성은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다.

Fish Composition and Trophic Guild Analysis as a Collection of Basic Data for Ecosystem Health Assessments in Yeongsan Lake

  • The objectives of this study were to analyze fish compositions, based on trophic guilds and tolerance guilds and determine community characteristics structure at five sampling sites of Yeongsan Lake during July 2006-May 2007. Total number of species sampled was 30 species and the number was 1350. Cyprinidae (77%) and Centrarchidae (15.7%) dominated the community and then followed by Cobitidae(2.7%), Gobiidae(2.4%), Mugilidae (0.5%), and others (0.1%). The relative abundance of tolerant and omnivore species at all sites was 63% and 77% of the total, respectively, suggesting an ecological degradations in the Lake. Exotics species such as large mouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), which is a top-carnivore in the water distributed at all sampling sites, implying that ecological disturbance was severe based on previous reference of US EPA (1991). Also, we found external anomalies such as external deformities, bleeding and tumors and not found migratory fish. Analysis of fish community structure showed that species diversity index and richness index was the highest in Site 1 and the dominance index was the highest in Site 2. In this study, high proportions of tolerant species and omnivore species, widespread exotic species, and frequent observations of abnormal fish. Such problems may be directly or indirectly associated with high nutrient enrichments and the reduced flow velocity by the dam construction. The ecosystem restoration by dam removal or removal of exotic top-carnivore fish may be one of the best strategies for better lak management.

  • Eighteen species of fish were identified by SCUBA diving observations around experimental artificial reefs at Tongyeong marine ranching area between November 1998 and November 1999. The highest species number of 14 was observed in September while the lowest number of 2 was observed in November. Fishes showed three typical behavioral patterns against the experimental artificial reef.

외래어종 관리를 위한 소상 실험 및 평가 (Experiment and Assessment of Ascending Capability for Management of Exotic Fish Species)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내에서 서식하는 외래어종인 배스와 블루길을 대상으로 소상능력 실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 대상 어류의 크기에 따라 4개 그룹으로 구분한 후 각 그룹별 4단계 유속에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 분석방법은 유속에 따라 기준선을 통과하는 개체 수를 영상촬영을 이용해 분석하였으며 어류의 유영 및 소상 가능정도를 육안으로 관찰하였다. 또한 고유속 급류로 인해 5분 내 하류로 내려오면 기준선 통과 개체 수에서 제외하였으며 유속은 좌안, 우안, 중앙에서 측정하여 평균값을 사용하였다. 실험 결과 어종 및 개체 크기에 상관없이 유속이 빠를수록 소상하는 외래어종은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 어종별 비교 결과 배스의 소상능력이 블루길보다 높게 나타났으나 개체 크기를 고려하면 차이는 크지 않는 것으로 판단된다. 소상 후 급류로 인해 하류로 밀려 내려오는 경우를 제외하고 실험오차를 고려하면 외래어종이 소상 가능한 한계속도는 1.11 m/s 이상인 것으로 판단된다. 실험 결과는 고유속 흐름을 이용한 어류 차단과 외래어종의 관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용이 가능하며 향후 고유속에서 기준선을 통과하는 어류가 돌발속도에 의한 것인지 순항속도에 의한 것인지 판단하기 위해서는 지속적인 실험과 검증 및 모니터링이 필요하다. 또한 외력에 의한 반응 및 유량에 의한 압력 차이 등을 고려한 어류의 반응검토도 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Analysis of the Effectiveness of Controlling the Number of Ecosystem Disturbance Fish Species Using the Native Carnivorous Fish Species of Korea

  • Preliminary investigation and analysis of the effectiveness of controlling the number of ecosystem disturbance fishes residing in Togyo reservoir using the native carnivorous fish species were performed. The data were collected from August 2011 to November 2016. The release of native carnivorous fish species was carried out from the end of May, 2012 to the end of July, 2016, considering fishing ban period of Siniperca scherzeri. The comparative abundance of Lepomis macrochirus was found to be 12.8% in the first year and increased a little bit after releasing the native carnivorous fish. However, it decreased to 3.9% in the last year showing a value of less than 5%. On the other hand, the Micropterus salmoides populations tended to increase after the release of native carnivorous fish species. This seems to be the result of the segregation of habitat by interspecific competition with S. scherzeri. The M. salmoides moved from inside of the lake to edges, and to influent tributaries. Stable isotope analysis showed that Channa argus had the highest levels of nutrition, S. scherzeri and M. salmoides were in competition, and L. macrochirus was used as a feed source for released species. Changes of the fish community in the Togyo reservoir was represented by the rank abundance curves based on the results of the fish fauna. As a result, the fish group in incoming tributaries are somewhat disturbed after the release of the native carnivorous species. Similarly, the fish group in the reservoir were disturbed as well but it's gradually stabilizing afterwards. Therefore, the control of the ecosystem disturbance species using the native carnivorous fish of Korea is effective and helps to stabilize the fish community in the lake.

  • Although cultured sweet smelt production recently have been rapidly increased from 89 metric tons (M/T) in 1997 to 500M/T In 1999 in Korea, wild fish have been still used as broodstock for cultured fish seed. This is considered due to having higher sperm and e99 qualify in wild fish broodstock than cultured fish. However, capturing a number of wild sweet smelt broodstock might lead to decreasing of the production of wild fish, In truth, of which production has been greatly decreased so that a number of artificial juvenile have been stocked some rivers in Korea. 진해 잠도 주변 암반해역의 어류상 (Fish Assemblage in a Rocky Subtidal Habitat around Jam-do, Jinhae)

  • 본 연구는 진해 잠도주변 조하대 암반서식지에서 통발에 의해 채집된 어류 군집의 종조성과 계절을 조사하였다. 어류 시료는 2007년 9월에서 2008년 7월까지 통발로 매월 채집하였다. 조사기간 동안 24과에 속하는 48종의 어류가 채집되었다. 우점종은 흰꼬리볼락(Sebastes longispinis), 가시망둑(Pseudoblennius cottoides), 볼락(Sebastes inermis), 그물코쥐치(Rudarius ercodes), 망상어(Ditrema temminckii), 세줄베도라치(Ernogrammus hexagrammus)였으며, 이들 6종은 총 채집 개체수의 71.0%를 차지하였다. 어류 군집의 현존량과 다양도는 계절변동을 나타냈는데, 출현종수, 개체수, 다양도는 가을철에 가장 높았고, 생체량은 봄에 높았다. 우점종의 현존량은 계절별로 차이를 보였는데, 흰꼬리볼락은 봄과 여름에 현존량이 높았고, 가시망둑은 가을과 봄에 높았다. 볼락은 9월, 12월, 5월에 높은 현존량을 보였고, 그물코쥐치는 대부분 개체가 가을에만 출현하였다.

색광에 대한 까치복의 반응 (Response of Striped Puffer , Fugu xanthopterus to the Colored Lights)

  • The author carried out an experiment to find out the response of Striped puffer. Fugu xanthoperus (Temminck et Schlegel) to the color lights. The experimental tank (300L$\times$50W$\times$50Hcm) was set up in a dark room. Six longitudinal sections with 60cm intervals are marked in the tank to observe the location of the fish. Water depth in the tank was kept 50cm level. Light bulbs of 20W at the both ends of the tank projected the light horizontally into the tank. Two different colored filters were selected from four colors of red, blue, yellow, and white, and the were placed in front of the light bulbs to make different colors of light. Light intensity was controlled by use of auxiliary filiters intercepted between the bulb and the filter. The fishes were acclimatized in the dark for 60 minutes before they were employed in the experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was given as the gathering rate of the fish. The colors favourited by the fish was found in order of blue, yellow, white and red in the daytime, and blue, white, yellow and red at night. The difference of the average distribution on two different colors of light was 13.12%(4.10-26.55%), and the difference in the daytime(14.79%) was larger than at night (11.45%). Constantly the gathering rate of fish on illumination period was fluctuated with instability. As the gathering rate of fish on illumination period was fluctuated with instability. As the gathering rate on one color of light increased, the gathering rate on the other color of light decreased. The difference of the gathering rate on two different colors of light was comparatively distinct and the difference in the daytime was larger than at night.

제주도 남부 사계리 연안에서 삼중자망으로 어획된 어류군집 변화 (A variation of fish assemblage by trammel net in the coastal waters of Sagye-ri, southern Jeju Island)

  • A variation of fish assemblage in the coastal waters of Sagye-ri, southern Jeju Island was determined using samples collected by trammel net from 2012 to 2022. The total fish species caught by trammel net were identified 88 species, 46 families, 12 orders, and the number of appearance and biomass were 3,479 individuals and 883.6 kg. The annual variation of species was the highest in 2013 at 46 species and the lowest in 2021 at 30 species. The seasonal variation of species was higher in summer at 67 species and lower in winter, autumn at 47 species. The annual diversity index, evenness index, and richness index were appeared 2.42-3.00, 0.69-0.78 and 5.18-7.24 at each years. The dominance index appeared highest in 2013 and the lowest in 2018. Cluster analysis based on the number of individuals of fish was classified into two groups at the dissimilarity level of 57%, and results of SIMPROF analysis revealed significant differences in community structure among the two groups. The subtropical fishes were identified a total of 42 species (47.7%) and the number of species was higher in 2013 at 25 (54.3%) species and lower in 2018 and 2021 at each 17 (54.8~56.7%) species. The dominant species of subtropical fishes were appeared rabbit fish (Siganus fuscescens), scarbreast tuskfish (Choerodon azurio), bluestriped angelfish (Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis), balloon fish (Diodon holocanthus), and flag fish (Goniistius zonatus) at study sites.

농업용 저수지의 어류군집 특성 (The Characterization of Fish Communities in Agricultural Reservoirs)

  • Most South Korean lakes are middle/small size artificial reservoirs, which are almost agricultural reservoirs (17,956). A total of 67 species (21 families) were recorded and collected from 65 agricultural reservoirs though field samplings and literature surveys. Dominant species was Pseudorasbora parva (relative abundance 24.5%), and Carassius auratur (41 sites) was the highest frequency. Feeding group of fish communities in the reservoirs was as follows: carnivorous (16.2%), omnivorous (79.5%) and herbivorous fish (4.3%). The number of individuals (P=0.024), species number (P=0.047) and carnivores number (P=0.024) were significantly correlated with reservoir ages. Reservoirs were classified into 3 groups according to feeding patterns of carnivore, omnivore and herbivore groups. The omnivores were dominant group in agricultural reservoirs. Detailed studies on fish community will be a base for the understanding of food web structure and biomanipulation in reservoir systems.
