The purpose of this study was to explore the experience the Nightingale pledge rituals of nursing students. Rituals are how people have always passed on their value system to the young, the next generation. Data were collected using focus group interviews and participant observations from 2012 to 2014. First researchers attended and observed Nightingale pledge rituals. And the three focus group interviews were held with a total 22 nursing students participating. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they were spoken, and data was analyzed using ethnography methodology. The results were the participants experienced the nurse identity and connectedness with others through Nightingale pledge rituals. Also, they experienced "a river that can't be crossed,", thus go through a transition stage such as a rite of passage with a firm determination on their nursing career. The Nightingale pledge rituals allowed to the nursing students close relationship and the sense of community by going through ritual procedures.
As an increasing amount of Korean animation is being produced for Hollywood films, and/or winning prizes at international animation festivals, Korean animation is proving its growth potential and competitive power. In order for such domestic cartoons and animation to stably develop and maintain firm competitive power in international markets, cartoonists and animators need programs to support their creations, and locations where they can create their works. They also keenly demand the development of various programs and support policies that fit Korea's situation. In addition, if independently produced cartoons and animations have stable locations where they can be shown and commercialized, they can receive public benefits, beyond short-term commercial effects. Based on these views, this study sheds light on the concept, formation, and vitalization of a creation space and resident program, through the intentions of a studio where young and would-be artists create their works. In addition, this study has a significant meaning in that it offers a more effective and positive policy direction, as well as more opportunities to re-educate artists. As a result, it is expected that this study will contribute toward recovering the identity of cartoons and animation, which have been recognized as commercial genres, and to firm up their competitive power in international markets. It also demonstrates that these creation spaces, beyond the simple logic in which a creation space only motivates an artist's desire to create, will help in developing Korean cartoons and animation through cultural and personal exchanges with artists of foreign countries, and through an understanding of other cultures, offer communication programs to connect Seoul and other local communities, and establish the cultural identity of local communities where such creation facilities are located. In this way, the public can more easily understand and access cartoons and animation in their daily lives through these creation spaces.
The systematic research on the Joseon history under Japanese imperialism in the 1920s, including that of the Joseon History Compilation Committee, was one of the stratagems that Japan employed to perpetuate the colonization of Joseon. The 'renovation of national traits', one of the three cultural measures taken by Japanese imperialism after the 1919 Independence Movement, was an attempt to degrade Joseon's nationality as extraneous, dependent, factional, and uncivilized. Against this, Koreans tried to create their own tradition that could prove Joseon's uniqueness and independence. The purpose of their study on ancient history, which became animated in the 1920s, was not to escape from the reality of Joseon into the idealized past, but to construct the history of Korean people anew. In this context, Dangun could refer to cultural identity as the communal origin of the nation, and this invented identity could lead to the healing of the injured subject. An Hwak's attempt was part of this efforts to call out myth as history. He suggests that Joseon's national traits are superior even to the Western civilization in several ways, and his vast plan to set up Joseon's cultural uniqueness and identity as history of universal civilization bore fruit in the History of Joseon Civilization. With cultural research for figuring out Joseon's national peculiarity and identity and historiography for revealing Joseon's national potential, he makes it possible for people to imagine various agents in the Joseon's past as belonging to a single nation with an identical history. Through his study on Joseon, he fought back the Japanese colonial view of history and tried to exalt national consciousness. Asserting independent and rational individuals as agency of civilization and culture though firm in the national perspective, he eventually went a way quite different from that of Japanese history of culture.
This paper explores the impacts of ownership structure on performance of listed firms in China using 1994-2002 data. Using a new ownership classification scheme, this paper analyzes the impact of three factors, the ownership identity, equity ownership by the controlling shareholder, and equity ownership by the minority shareholders, on the performance of firms. Panel regression analysis shows that the firms controlled by the government are outperformed by firms controlled by private owners, supporting the hypothesis that the state pursues political objectives such as excess employment rather than profit maximization or the hypothesis that political interference by the Party or government may cause high political costs. Regression results also show that higher equity ownership by the controlling shareholder improves firm performance in private controlled firms and partially in marketized corporate controlled firms. The results also show that higher equity ownership by relatively large shareholders (from top 2 to top 10 shareholders) leads to better performance in marketized corporate controlled firms and partially in private controlled firms.
This article is concerned with exploring labour market transformation in newspaper industry and thereby looking into skill formation and professionalization of journalists. In Korea, according to previous research, newspaper journalist labour market had been characterized by a low inter-firm mobility of workers and patterns of long-term employment and firm-based skill training. However, over the past few years, as new product strategies of newspaper firms has changed due to management crisis employers pull back from the responsibilities of investment on skill training and securing job stability for journalists. However, in spite of overall weakened firm-based skill formation systems within the market, there still seems to be long way to build alternative systems of skill developments for them. As a result, it will be argued that, in the absence of manifest labor market institutions such as apprenticeships or skill certification system, which are assumed to traditionally certify workers' professionalization, occupational identity and professionality of newspaper journalist labour market will be weakened. Labor market data from interviews with journalists in the newspaper industry are used in order to test this hypothesis.

After having changed its corporate brand from LG Fire & Marine Insurance to LIG Non-life Insurance in 2006, LIG Insurance has successfully built the corporate image as the leading insurance financial group by engaging in extensive corporate social responsibility activities. LIG, as 'a partner for sharing precious moments of life', intended to provide customers a new value of an insurance by building up the new corporate brand. It established three values to be shared internally. First was to instill a brand value orientation within the organization. Second, the firm identified the brand's value to be delivered to the customers. Third, they defined the image objective to be communicated to them. Based on these set of objectives, the company designed and implemented an integrated marketing communication(IMC) strategy over several years. The result was a successful transition to the new corporate brand name.
As the whole world is rapidly becoming hollow connected by networks, the fashion world in the 21st century is about to mould the identity of one's own country by establishing image of one’s own country and originality. Therefore the purpose of this study is in the development of designs in order to making the image of Korean dress and ornaments firmly in the global fashion by grafting and applying the elements of Korean dress and ornaments to the modern fashion. The method of this study consists of production of works after investigation of the images of Korean dress and ornaments applied to the modern fashion or detail elements in the Korean research papers and works. The elements of images of Korean dress and ornaments which used for the production of works like Dongjeong, Baerae, Dangeu doryeon, Chima heori, Goreum, Jeogori, Euryeyong chima, Saegdong, Jogakbo, Jatmullim, Geumbakseuran are made of use as motives, and one or several mixed elements are designed in a work. The result of the production of work is as follows : First, the design which made use of the element of Chima jegori make strong image of Korean dress. And by grafting several elements to one work, the more strong Korean image was created. Second, in the design which made use of ornaments and detailed decoration method, ideas are offered for detailed design skills. The materials which was investigated academically along with the study through the actual manufacturing are expected to become a foundation stone of making firm images of Korean dress and ornaments.

Fourth, the product development team uses original and logical processes and is highly organized. Fifth, the design organization effectively utilizes necessary experts of internal and external company. Sixth, the firm produces innovative products that meet the customers' demand and predict the future. Seventh, the products developed shall employ cutting-edge technologies and are new and original. Korea has persisted in the notion of "ethnic nationalism." That is "one race, one people, one language" as a homogeneous entity. This social ideal of unity prevails, even in overseas Korean communities formed by voluntary and involuntary displacement in the turmoil of modern history: communities made intermittent with the Japanese colonial occupation and with postcolonial encounters with the West. Given that the Korean people suffered from the trauma of deprivation of the language caused by the loss of the nation, nation has been equated with the language. Accordingly, "these bearers of a homeland" are also firm Korean language holders. The linguistic patriotism of unity based on the intertwining of "mother tongue" and "father country" has become prevalent in the collective memory of the people of the Korean diaspora. Korean American literature has grappled with this concept of the national history of Korea and the Korean language. The aesthetics of Korean American literature has been marked by an influx of literary resources of 'Korea' in sensibilities and structure of feelings; Korean myth, folk lore, songs, humor, traditional stories, manners, customs and historic moments. An experimental use of the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, written down as pronounced, provides an ethnic flavor in the midst of the English texts. Despite its national framework of mind, however, Korean American literature as an interstitial art reveals a keen awareness of inbetweenness, and transnational hybrid identities. By exploring the complex interrelationships of cultural and linguistic boundary-crossing practices in Korean American literature, this paper argues that the poetics of the Korean diaspora challenges the closed structure of identity formation, and offers a transnational sphere to deconstruct a rigidly demarcated national ideology of "one race, one people, one language," for the world literary history.
