With the "Fire Protection Building Plan" of the Building Center of Japan as a sample, actual evacuation plans used for large scaled and multi-storied buildings are analyzed. Sufficient number of samples were classified into 6 categories. For room evacuation, time to pass through the exit was the most critical point for larger spaces and movement time in the room was the key for smaller evacuation object zone and less number of evacuees. Seen from the location of fire breakout point, it was witnessed that the numbers of crowding at the exits of the fire escape staircase are serious for floor level evacuation. For vertical traffic line, it was actually proved that time to fire escaping floor is problem of higher buildings. It was also proved that special evacuation methods are in practical use in many buildings in japan.
For forest fire monitoring in relatively cool area like Siberia, design of Decision Support System (DSS) is proposed. The DSS is consisted of three different algorithms to detect potential fires from NOAA AVHRR image. The algorithm developed by CCRS (Canada Center for Remote Sensing) uses fixed thresholds for multi-channel information like one by ESA (European Space Agency). The algorithm of IGBP (International Geosphere Biosphere Program) involves contextual information in deriving fire pixels. CCRS and IGBP algorithms are rather liberal compared to more conservative ESA algorithm. Fire pixel information from the three algorithms is presented to the user. The user considers all these information in making decision about the location fire takes place.
The fire brigade non-suppression probability model is a major factor that should be considered in evaluating fire-induced risk through fire probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), and also uncertainty is a critical consideration in support of risk-informed performance-based (RIPB) fire protection decision-making. This study developed an optimal integrated probabilistic fire brigade non-suppression model considering uncertainty of parameters based on the Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) approach on electrical fire which is one of the most risk significant contributors. The result shows that the log-normal probability model with a location parameter (µ) of 2.063 and a scale parameter (σ) of 1.879 is best fitting to the actual fire experience data. It gives optimal model adequacy performance with Bayesian information criterion (BIC) of -1601.766, residual sum of squares (RSS) of 2.51E-04, and mean squared error (MSE) of 2.08E-06. This optimal log-normal model shows the better performance of the model adequacy than the exponential probability model suggested in the current fire PRA methodology, with a decrease of 17.3% in BIC, 85.3% in RSS, and 85.3% in MSE. The outcomes of this study are expected to contribute to the improvement and securement of fire PRA realism in the support of decision-making for RIPB fire protection programs.
Due to the rapid spread and low minimum ignition energy of hydrogen, rupture is highly likely to cause fire, explosion and major accidents. The self-ignition of high-pressure hydrogen is highly likely to ignite immediately when it leaks from an open space, resulting in jet fire. Results of the diffusion and leakage simulation show that jet effect occurs from the leakage source to a certain distance. And at the end of location, the vapor cloud explosion can be occurred due to the formation of hydrogen vapor clouds by built-up. In the result, it is important that depending on the time of ignition, a jet fire or a vapor cloud explosion may occur. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account jet effect by location of leakage source and establish a damage minimizing plan for the possible jet fire or vapor cloud explosion. And it is required to any kind of measurements such as an interlock system to prevent hydrogen leakage or minimize the amount of leakage when detecting leakage of gas.
We have conducted a numerical simulation under three-dimensional unsteady conditions in order to analyze the characteristics of $CO_2 $;, extinguishant transfer by varying the location of the injection nozzle, which affects the effect of a $CO_2 $;, fire fighting system used in the form of fixed systems for the marine engine room. Flow fields and $CO_2 $;, concentration fields were measured according to the location of the injection nozzle. In the case of arranging the injection nozzle on the center of the ceiling, the low-normal concentration distribution was developed along the $CO_2 $;, jet due to the downward flow created by impinging ceiling jets in the symmetric plane. The concentration line reaches its peak due to the mass transfer of $CO_2 $;, at the comer.
Human casualties from fires are increasing worldwide. The majority of human deaths occur during the evacuation process, as occupants panic and are unaware of the location of the fire and evacuation routes. Using an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor and reinforcement learning, we propose a method to find the safest evacuation route by considering the fire location, flame speed, occupant position, and walking conditions. The first step is detecting the fire with IoT-based devices. The second step is identifying the occupant's position via a beacon connected to the occupant's mobile phone. In the third step, the collected information, flame speed, and walking conditions are input into the reinforcement learning model to derive the optimal evacuation route. This study makes it possible to provide the safest evacuation route for individual occupants in real time. This study is expected to reduce human casualties caused by fires.
It is very difficult to suppress fire by rapid flame spread through flue space between flammable commodities on the rack when a fire occurs in the rack storage. At present, the fire protection system for rack storage in Korea has many issues, and the new fire protection system was designed and developed by it. A smart system using the sensor network and artificial intelligence was designed to detect fire very rapidly and track the location of a fire. In the very early stages, the system was constructed using vertical open sprinkler pipes, wet pipes, and solenoid valves to allow water to spray near fire locations. Based on the design results, the system was installed and tested, and the full-scale test was successfully completed.

There are many problems with the fire detection devices being used in currently, because it is difficult to find location of the source of fire and determine where devices are working or not. In this paper, we proposed fire detection and rescue system using wireless sensor network that can be real-time monitoring and determine safe exit. Fire detection and rescue system based on ubiquitous sensor network can know exactly source of fire and help determine rescue tactics using sensing data from wireless sensor nodes. Transmitted wirelessly in real-time thermal sensor and gas sensor information to analyze the GUI to monitor the status information output to the screen by use of a system implemented in everyday life, looked at the possibility.

The behavior of fire plumes has not yet been clearly identified for cases where sidewalls are installed near an opening in an unconfined space. In this research, we aim to quantitatively identify the effects on fire spread when sidewalls are located on both sides of an opening. Specifically, we focus on the effects on the fire plume of the relation between the location of sidewalls and the opening, and carry out a scale-model experiment to devise a flame height model and to evaluate the temperature distribution along the central axis of the flame.
The public relations room of the waste disposal facility is a space that can be visited by a large number of unevaluated personnel. Therefore, it is essential to design against fire, and research on fire and evacuation is essential. In this study, in order to evaluate the safety of the occupants in the event of fire and evacuation based on the life safety standards of occupants, the increase in risk due to heat, visible distance, and toxic gases on a plane 1.8m from the floor, which is the limit of breathing of the evacuee, over time. It was analyzed by location. As a result, the RSET of the P-01 exit was 93.0 seconds and the ASET was 272.6 seconds, the RSET of the P-02 exit was 45.8 seconds, the ASET was 147.7 seconds, the RSET of the P-03 exit was 106 seconds, and the ASET was 182.9 seconds.
