  • In this paper, we propose a prototype design and implementation of a fire detection algorithm using multiple sensors. The proposed topic detection system determines fire by applying rules based on data from multiple sensors. The fire takes about 3 to 5 minutes, which is the optimal time for fire detection. This means that timely identification of potential fires is important for fire management. However, current fire detection devices are very vulnerable to false alarms because they rely on a single sensor to detect smoke or heat. Recently, with the development of IoT technology, it is possible to integrate multiple sensors into a fire detector. In addition, the fire detector has been developed with a smart technology that can communicate with other objects and perform programmed tasks. The prototype was produced with a success rate of 90% and a false alarm rate of 10% based on 10 actual experiments.

  • This study aims to classify forest fire-affected areas, identify forest types by the intensity of forest fire damage using multi-time Landsat-satellite images before and after forest fires and to analyze the effects of artificial restoration sites and natural restoration sites. The difference in the values of the Normalized Burned Ratio(NBR) before and after forest fire damage not only maximized the identification of forest fire affected and unaffected areas, but also quantified the intensity of forest fire damage. The index was also used to confirm that the higher the intensity of forest fire damage in all forest fire-affected areas, the higher the proportion of coniferous forests, relatively. Monitoring was conducted after forest fires through Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI), an index suitable for the analysis of effects by restoration type and the NDVI values for artificial restoration sites were found to no longer be higher after recovering the average NDVI prior to the forest fire. On the other hand, the natural restoration site witnessed that the average NDVI value gradually became higher than before the forest fires. The study result confirms the natural resilience of forests and these results can serve as a basis for decision-making for future restoration plans for the forest fire affected areas. Further analysis with various conditions is required to improve accuracy and utilization for the policies, in particular, spatial analysis through forest maps as well as review through site checks before and immediately after forest fires. More precise analysis on the effects of restoration will be available based on a long term monitoring.

  • This study aimed to develop an evaluation reliability of Korean pattern identification for wind stroke. We studied 643 patients with stroke and made a list of registry for each of them. The present study analyzed 553 cases, in which the resident’s pattern identification agreed with the specialist’s one, and the cases included five differentiation pattern: the fire-heat pattern (114), the dampness-phlegm pattern (157), the static blood pattern (11), the Yin deficiency pattern (81), and the Qi deficiency pattern (190). This study showed that none of the Cronbach's alpha reached 0.700, which is the general reliable level. The average Cronbach's alpha of each symptoms was 0.353 for the dampness-phlegm pattern, 0.571 for the fire-heat pattern, 0.443 for the Qi deficiency pattern, 0.451 for the Yin deficiency pattern, and 0.302 for the static blood pattern. This suggests the possibility that each pattern identification could be coincided with other symptoms, and it also shows the limits of pattern identification of this study that narrows the symptoms of paralysis patients into only a single pattern. Continuous compliments and researches should be done referring to this matter. However, the internal consistency analysis of all the pattern identification showed that every Cronbach's alpha were within the range of 0.670 to 0.703, and the Cronbach's alpha of the whole symptoms was evaluated as 0.692, which makes the reliability of the pattern identification as itself almost satisfactory to the general reliable level, and therefore, significant. In the future, continuous clinical research to develope this pattern identification for wind stroke actually applicable to stroke patients needs to be made through accumulating more cases, improving the objectivity.

  • To protect the steel structure in a high story buildings from fire, the sprayed fire-resistive materials are applied during the construction. Current standard methods to check the quality of sprayed fire-resistive materials are real fire test in lab, which take a long time (several weeks) and expensive. In this study, a simple analytical method to check the quality of sprayed fire-resistive materials is developed using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR). Total 9 kinds of sprayed fire-resisted materials and 3 kinds of normal sprayed material sets were used for the analysis. Each set of materials was 50 to 100 samples. Samples are grinded and make a fine powder. The spectral data acquisition was carried out using FT-NIR spectrometer with a integrating sphere. NIR methods successfully identify the sprayed fire resistive materials by a principle component analysis (PCA) after a vector normalization (SNV) pretreatment.

  • With the spread of FMD and AI in the country livestock farmers have used lime(CaO) prevalently and due to incorrect storage lime served as a fire ignition source in a number of cases. As combined chemically with water, lime has exothermic reaction. Then In these experiments we want to know how exothermic reaction - caused by lime - acts as sources of fire ignition in any circumstances and conditions. So we have done experimental work of ignition temperature and ignition process in the artificial conditions as lime combined chemically with water. As a result, we have confirmed that lime could be flammable material sufficiently as a fire ignition source with the proper presence of heat and moisture conditions. If the lime served as sources of fire ignition, as identification techniques of fire scene, we must ascertain the existence of water, flammable material and Calcium Hydroxide($Ca(OH)_2$). We should take special precautions in order to prevent fire and educate the safe handling of lime to the manufacturer and agricultural cooperative's joint livestock farmers who product or use lime.

  • To assess the usefulness of tongue inspection for evaluating the Pattern identification in oriental medicine, we observed stroke patient's tongue and tongue coat and compared it with Pattern identification. The test group was composed of 85 acute stroke stage patients(within 72 hours of onset). Subjects were randomly selected from stroke patients admitted in the KyungHee University, Hospital of Oriental Medicine from December 1 1998 to June 30 1999. We took pictures of patient's tongue and tongue coat within 72hours from onset and checked Pattern identification at the same time. Tongues colored pale rose or red greatly outnumbered other colors. Tongue shape tended to be prickly or fissured, and tongue condition tended to be unflexible or deviated. Regarding tongue coat color, there were great amounts of yellow or clark yellow tongue coats, which were moist, thick or greasy in substance. The red tongue was significantly related to Fire-heat and deficiency of Yin syndrome, while faint white tongue to Damp syndrome(P=0.006). In terms of tongue coat, thin coat was related to Wind and Fire-heat syndromes, thick coat to Damp and Blood stasis syndrome, respectively (P=0.002). In conclusion, we thought that tongue inspection could be a useful Oriental medicine diagnosis in stroke.

  • K-Maryblyt has been developed for the effective control of secondary fire blight infections on blossoms and the elimination of primary inoculum sources from cankers and newly emerged shoots early in the season for both apple and pear trees. This model facilitates the precise determination of the blossom infection timing and identification of primary inoculum sources, akin to Maryblyt, predicting flower infections and the appearance of symptoms on various plant parts, including cankers, blossoms, and shoots. Nevertheless, K-Maryblyt has undergone significant improvements: Integration of Phenology Models for both apple and pear trees, Adoption of observed or predicted hourly temperatures for Epiphytic Infection Potential (EIP) calculation, incorporation of adjusted equations resulting in reduced mean error with 10.08 degree-hours (DH) for apple and 9.28 DH for pear, introduction of a relative humidity variable for pear EIP calculation, and adaptation of modified degree-day calculation methods for expected symptoms. Since the transition to a model-based control policy in 2022, the system has disseminated 158,440 messages related to blossom control and symptom prediction to farmers and professional managers in its inaugural year. Furthermore, the system has been refined to include control messages that account for the mechanism of action of pesticides distributed to farmers in specific counties, considering flower opening conditions and weather suitability for spraying. Operating as a pivotal module within the Fire Blight Forecasting Information System (FBcastS), K-Maryblyt plays a crucial role in providing essential fire blight information to farmers, professional managers, and policymakers.
