Smart Fire Image Recognition System using Charge-Coupled Device Camera Image (CCD 카메라 영상을 이용한 스마트 화재 영상 인식 시스템)

  • This research suggested smart fire recognition system which trances firing location with CCD camera with wired/wire-less TCP/IP function and Pan/Tilt function, delivers information in real time to android system installed by smart mobile communication system and controls fire and disaster remotely. To embody suggested method, firstly, algorithm which applies hue saturation intensity (HSI) Transform for input video, eliminates surrounding lightness and unnecessary videos and segmentalized only firing videos was suggested. Secondly, Pan/Tilt function traces accurate location of firing for proper control of firing. Thirdly, android communication system installed by mobile function confirms firing state and controls it. To confirm the suggested method, 10 firing videos were input and experiment was conducted. As the result, all of 10 videos segmentalized firing sector and traced all of firing locations.

The Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention among Fire Protection System Management Workers (소방시설관리업 종사자의 직무만족과 이직의도와의 관계)

  • This study examined job satisfaction among fire protection system management workers in the fire industry and analyzed how job satisfaction affects turnover intention. The results revealed that, among the control variables, including age, rank, academic background, payment, total career, license, and tasks, significant differences in job satisfaction were found in the tasks between groups, while no significant differences in turnover were found in any control variable between groups. Additionally, the results revealed that, among the lower variables of job satisfaction, increased satisfaction with payment and organizational system affected the degree of turnover intention, while work and promotion did not. These results are to be used as data for human management of technicians and for creating alternatives. Future studies are required to establish a reasonable task rotation cycle for raising job satisfaction, to examine the current status of low-cost orders and countermeasures, and to analyze the direction of development of fire protection system management business.

The study on performance evaluation of heat resistance and smoke control system using air-curtain system in tunnel (터널용 에어커튼 시스템의 내열 및 제연 성능 평가 연구)

  • Tunnel is a semi-closed structure similar to underground space where the smoke generated from fire fills the space fast while escaping from the space slow. Because of such characteristics, when the fire breaks out by traffic accident, the vehicles are jammed making it difficult for the people to evacuate from the scene as well as for the fire engine to gain access to the scene. For such reasons, tunnels are globally categorized into some disaster classes for differentiated facilities and operation approaches. In Korea, less than a 1 km-long tunnel accounts for 80.0% and such a short tunnel which is categorized into Class III is not required to have smoke control system. In this study, a full-scale fire test was conducted in a bid to apply air curtain system using heat-resistant sirocco fan to a less than 1 km-long tunnel. To that end, heat resistance test to verify the normal operation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes was conducted. Consequently, despite of rapid rising-temperature and increasing-carbon dioxide inside the air curtain (direction of fire in tunnel), initial condition was found to have been sustained outside the air curtain (opposite direction of fire in tunnel).

An Improvement Study on National Fire Safety Code of Sprinkler System for Hydraulic Calculation Application (수리계산 적용을 위한 스프링클러설비의 화재안전기준 개선방안 연구)

  • There are two kinds of design process for sprinkler system. one is pipe schedule system and the other is hydraulically designed system. We have inefficient results when we design by hydraulically designed system because the design process for sprinkler system is restricted by domestic fire code. Therefore, it is essential to do an introduction of hydraulically designed system which is based on engineering for enhancing reliability and efficiency of sprinkler system. This study presents points at issue by comparing and studying design standards of sprinkler system from Korea, Japan and NFPA, and presents improvement plans of national fire safety code of sprinkler system by processing, comparing and analyzing designs according to piping schedule and hydraulically designed system about domestic objects. Installation standards of sprinkler system have to be applied not by object buildings but by hazard classification. It is hard to design an efficient sprinkler system for fire control when water supply requirement of sprinkler systems allocated according to a size of a building because the same purpose but other buildings may request more water requirement or less. We should sublate the pipe schedule system from national fire safety code and need to introduce the hydraulically designed system. The pipe schedule system presents easy access because it is based on the forecasted engineering calculations but it is applied to only small buildings like NFPA due to its low reliability.

  • An automatic target sensing and triggering system for small fire arms is proposed. The system consists of an optical collector, an infrared ray sensor responsive to human body temperature, an electric actuator and a trigger mechanism. TRIZ methodologies are used to develop solutions to several contradictory problems. Experimental results on the system performance is compared with predictions.

A Study on the Effective Fire and Smoke Control in Road-Tunnel with Semi-Transverse Ventilation (Oversized Exhaust System) (도로터널 화재시 반횡류식 환기방식에서의 최적배연 연구(대배기구 방식))

  • The smoke control system plays the most important role in securing evacuation environment when a fire occurs in road tunnels. Smoke control methods in road tunnels are classified into two categories which are longitudinal ventilation system and transverse ventilation system. In this study it is intended to review the characteristics of smoke behavior by performing numerical analysis for calculating the optimal smoke exhaust air volume when a fire occurs in tunnels in which transverse ventilation is applied, and for obtaining the basic data required for the design of smoke exhaust systems by deriving optimal smoke exhaust operational conditions for various conditions. As a result of this study, when the critical velocity in the tunnel is 1.75m/s and 2.5m/s, the optimal smoke exhaust air volume has to be more than $173m^3/s$, $236m^3/s$ for the distance of the smoke moving which can limit the distance to 250m. In addition, in case of uniform exhaust the generated smoke is effectively taken away if the two exhaust holes near the fire region are opened at the same time.

Analysis on the Fire Accident of Vehicle Due to Damage of Connector and wiring on an Anti-lock Brake System(ABS) Module (ABS 모듈의 접속부 및 전원배선 손상으로 인한 차량화재 사고사례 분석)

  • In this paper, study of vehicle fire cases caused by connector and power wiring of anti-lock brake system(ABS) module damage is presented. The purpose of ABS module is to improve braking and steering ability under sudden stop of the vehicle by repeatedly activating and releasing the brake with electric signal via electric control unit. The electric control unit for ABS may experience incomplete contact between power line and signal line or electrical breakdown on the printed circuit board by undergoing repetitive signal change which would consequently result in electrical heat and spark, eventually leading to automotive fire. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide fundamental data by analyzing connector and power wiring of ABS module damage conducive to the precise investigation on the cause of vehicle fire.
