화재 열발생률 입력 불확실도에 대한 FDS 결과의 민감도 분석 (Sensitivity Analysis of FDS Results for the Input Uncertainty of Fire Heat Release Rate)

  • A sensitivity analysis of FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator) results for the input uncertainty of heat release rate (Q) which might be the most influencing parameter to fire behaviors was performed. The calculated results were compared with experimental data obtained by the OECD/NEA PRISME project. The sensitivity of FDS results with the change in Q was also compared with the empirical correlations suggested in previous literature. As a result, the change in the specified Q led to the different dependence of major quantities such as temperature and species concentrations for the over- and under-ventilated fire conditions, respectively. It was also found that the sensitivity of major quantities to uncertain value of Q showed the significant difference in results obtained using the previous empirical correlations.

  • This study aims to create a model for predicting the number of extinguishment manpower to put out forest fires by taking into account the climate, the situation, and the extent of the damage at the time of the forest fires. Past research has been approached to determine the cause of the forest fire or to predict the occurrence of a forest fire. How to deal with forest fires is also a very important part of how to deal with them, so predicting the number of extinguishment manpower is important. Therefore predicting the number of extinguishment manpower that have been put into the forest fire is something that can be presented as a new perspective. This study presents a model for predicting the number of extinguishment manpower inputs considering the scale of the damage with forest fire on a scale bigger than 0.1 ha as data based on the forest fire annual report(Korea Forest Service; KFS) from 2015 to 2018 using the moderated multiple regression analysis. As a result, weather factors and extinguished time considering the damage show that affect forest fire extinguishment manpower.

GIS를 이용한 산불피해지역 특성분석 (Characteristic Analysis of Forest Fire Burned Area using GIS)

  • 전국토의 65%가 산림지역인 우리 나라의 경우 1990년대에 들어와서 산불발생건수 및 피해면적이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 산불을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있도록 GIS(지리정보 시스템)를 이용하여 산불피해지역의 지형을 분석하였고, 기상자료와 임상자료를 포함하여 소형산불과 대형산불의 인자간 상호 비교 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 대형산불에 영향을 주는 인자는 사면장, 사면경사, 풍속, 수종, 수종연속성이 산불의 대형화와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

지형과 산불피해도와의 관계 분석 (Analysis of the Relationship between Landform and Forest Fire Severity)

  • 지형은 연료의 구성과 기상 및 산불로부터 발생하는 에너지의 흐름에 영향을 미쳐 산불행동에 관여하는 인자이다. 따라서 지형에 따른 산불피해도를 정략적으로 해석할 수 있다면, 산불위험도 작성 및 진화대원 안전 확보에 있어 기초 자료로 응용될 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 삼척(2000년 발생), 청양(2002년 발생), 양양(2005년 발생) 산불을 대상으로 산불피해도를 분석하고 지형을 구분한 다음 통계분석을 실시하여 두 인자간의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 산불피해도는 산불 전후 Landsat TM 영상에서 추출한 정규탄화지수(Normalized Burn Ratio)의 차이를 이용하였다. 지형은 지형위치지수(Topographic Position Index)를 이용해 Weiss(2001)가 제시한 10개로 구분하였다. 분석결과 산지수로, 능선, 산복사면 등의 지형에서 산불피해도가 높게 나타났으며, 곡저구릉, 평탄곡지, 평지 등의 지형은 산불피해도가 낮게 나타났다. 이를 임상별로 세분해 보면 산불피해도는 침엽수림에서 활엽수림에 비해 지형에 더 민감하게 반응한 것으로 나타났다.

화재의 크기와 종류에 따른 선박 피난 안전 연구 (A Study on Ship Evacuation Safety Consequent on the Size and Sort of Fire)

  • Maritime accidents caused by a ship include collisions, sinking, stranding and fire etc. This study is intending to consider fire accidents among such diverse marine accidents. It is much likely that various sorts of fires break out because crewmen are living in a narrow space for long periods of time consequent on the ship's characteristic of sailing on the sea. According to the ship fire survey, about 50% of the total fire accidents occurred at an engine room, and the main fire origin was analyzed to be oil. In addition, ship fire breaks out in the order of baggage racks and living quarter. In short, the survey indicates that all sorts of fires belonging to A, B, C and D-class have occurred. This study, targeting an actual passenger ship 'A', found the response time to evacuation, during which the people on board a ship recognize the outbreak of fire, and act, and the travel time for evacuation which is the actual travel time. In addition, this study carried out a simulation through the special program for fire analysis - FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) in order to find the effective evacuation time, i.e. life survival time. Particularly, this study did comparative analysis of the influence on the survival of passengers and crew based on the collected simulation data by fire size and sort. As a result of the analysis, it was found that when examining the only actual evacuation movement time excepting the response time to evacuation, people are safe by completing evacuation before the effective evacuation time only in case fire size is 100Kw among all sorts of fires. In other words, in case of the outbreak of fire more than 1 MW, it was found to fail to meet evacuation safety regardless of fire size.

  • Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis for the concrete bridge was performed in order to investigate the damage of the concrete bridge by the fire of the vehicle. Changes in material properties, such as thermal conductivity, specific heat, density, elasticity, caused by temperature rise were considered. Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis were performed according to the various location of the fire by ABAQUS. From the comparison of the numerical results, the degree of structural damage for the concrete bridge was investigated and considerations for the design of a concrete bridge against fire were identified.

Fire Behavior of Steel Columns Encased by Damaged Spray-applied Fire Resistive Material

  • A Steel column with damaged spray-applied fire resistive material (SFRM) may exhibit reduced structural performance due to the effects of elevated temperature during fire events. Thus, the fire load behavior of steel columns with removed or reduced SFRM needs to be examined to predict the structural damage by fire. FEM analyses were performed for the flange thinning removal models in which the SFRM was reduced as a constant strip in thickness at the top flange of the column. The temperature results for all models obtained from the heat transfer analyses were included as an initial condition in the FEM structural analyses. In this study, the results of analysis show that even small remnants of SFRM led to an effective reduction of temperature at any given fire duration, and improved significantly the axial load capacity of a column as compared to the complete removal cases of SFRM.

  • CEN/TS 45545 is Europe consolidation standard for fire safety on railway behicles. This is based on the International Union of Railways(UIC) and different European countries. It is intended to protect passengers and staff in railway in the event of a fire on board. It will be prepared in 2012. Based on this consolidate standard, they are going to make single market, for raising technical competitiveness, technical innovation and globalization of that standard. For this reason, European academies, manufacturers, and sub-manufacturers confer and stady animated about CEN/TS 45545. In Korea, get out the safety assessment for ues incombustible interior material, the needs of quantitative analysis on fire protection, demand on recognition of fire protection scenario, and define about fire load analysis are becomin more and more important. Therefore, this paper will estimate and compare Flammability, Smoke Density, Toxicity Index( this is the key point for appraised fire safety performance of material) between CEN/TS45545 and fire standards on railway vehicle. Then suggest criteria for fire safety on railway vehicles.
