  • This paper proposes a fire shunt guidance system model based on rule, it presents suitable shunt route in real-time according to collected fire information of the building inside using wireless sensor networks. So, this system model is composed of the sensor alert module, the behavior suggestion module, and the emergency device control module. The sensor alert module uses rule-base algorithm that monitored the information to collect periodically in wireless sensor networks. And, the behavior suggestion module proposed a suitable behavior, this module supports to judge the fire area with danger sensor list. Additional, the emergency device control module controls a related emergency device according to the suggested behavior and to present on a control screen. We experiment the fire shunt guidance system based on Internet Web for operation verification of the proposed system. Consequently, this study supports people safety with the behavior suggestion according to the context information when an emergency situation happens.

  • Fire detectors are designed to minimize loss of life from a fire alarm system as an alarm to help evacuate more quickly until the completion of the evacuation alarm should be continued. the purpose of such alarms in order to achieve the characteristic fire heat release rate reaches a certain level, or when a certain time has elapsed, when the heat detector is to be alarms to answer. Requires a quick response, it is desirable to install the sensor as much as possible, but taking into account the cost of installation problems by engineering approach to minimize the quantity and rapidity of detection capability should be increased. In order to increase the rapidity of fire detectors in a room according to the height of the sensing period is to be maintained the optimum distance of the fire detector detects characteristics should be considered. Differential spot-type heat detectors installed domestic basis, depending on the type of sensor that can detect one sensor area is limited and less than 4m ceiling height regulations and simply double the number in excess of 4m and intended to be installed.

  • An integrated multifunctional sensor, capable of raising an early electric-fire warning, was fabricated. An arc-light, temperature, and humidity sensor was fabricated on a flexible substrate using a printed thin film of indium tin oxide. A polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate was used as the flexible substrate. The sensor was fabricated on a PET substrate, and its operating characteristics were tested. The operating performances of the sensor when serving as an arc-light, a temperature, and a humidity sensor were estimated to be 0.6247 Ω/W, 80.6 Ω/K, and -4.08 Ω/RH, respectively. The feasibility of the proposed fire sensor was demonstrated; it costs low and offers multiple functionalities.

  • We propose driving method of Ultraviolet sensor for fire alarms using pulse width modulation that used to fire detector with sensor of private-use detectable light energy as ultraviolet in energy of electromagnetic-wave type radiate from flame, when combustible burn with contain carbon,. Ultraviolet sensor is UV Tron using gas multiplication effect to current discharge and photoelectric effect of metal. To have high sensibility and to gain proper output voltage, it has high responsive performance. This research designed driving circuit with UV sensors and proposed method of false alarm reduced to resemble fire. the result propers the prevention and extinction of fire technique degree, certificated operation of detector.

  • Network technology has been developed rapidly for digital service in these days. ZigBee, one of the IEEE 802.15.4 protocols, supporting local communication has become the core technology in the wireless network area. In this paper we designed an integrated fire monitoring system using a mobile robot and the ZigBee sensor nodes which are deployed to monitor fires. When a fire breaks out, the image information of the scene of a fire is transmitted by an autonomous mobile robot and we also monitor the current position of the robot. Furthermore, the data around the place where the fire breaks out and the positions of the sensor nodes can be transmitted to a server via the multi-hop communication in the real time.

  • This study presents an analysis of comparison of P-type fire detection system with fuzzy logic-applied fire detection system. The fuzzy logic-applied fire detection system has input variables obtained by fire experiment of small scale with K-type temperature sensor and optical smoke sensor. And the antecedent part of fuzzy rules consists of temperature and smoke density, and the consequent part consists of fire probability. Also triangular fuzzy membership function is used for input variables and fuzzy rules. To calculate the final fire probability a centroid method is introduced. A fire experiment is conducted with controlling wood crib layer, cigarette to simulate actual fire and false alarm situation. The results show that peak fire probability is 25[%] for non-fire and is more than 80[%] for fire situation, respectively. The fuzzy logic-applied fire detection system suggested here is able to distinguish fire situation and non-fire situation very precisely.

  • Due to the rapid development of construction technology with effective land utilization in this nation, many tunnels were and are being built across the country. However, the smoke and the heat generated from tunnel fire are the most important critical factors which may results in both massive personal injury and property damage, especially, due to the closed surrounding of the tunnel. Considering this particular nature of the tunnels, this study aims to install a fire detection system using an optic fiber cable to measure the temperature changes, compare, and analyze the resulted values with the times of temperature changes of the sensor by performing fire simulations under the same condition as a real fire test. From the results, it has been found that the temperature sensor detects a fire occurrence and generates an alarm within one minute after ignition for both a real fire test and a fire simulation alike, and also that the characteristics of temperature changes of the sensor has close relations with the speeds of the currents inside the tunnel. In addition, considering the tunnel fires can affect the evacuation efficiency and the fire extinguishing activities of the fire brigade inside the tunnel, the temperature sensor must be able to search and find the locations and directions of the fires correctly.

  • In this paper, a fire detection system based on quantitative risk estimation is presented. Multiple sensors are used to build a comprehensive indicator that represents the risk of fire quantitatively. The proposed fire risk estimation method consists of two stages which determines the occurrence of fire and estimates the toxicity of the surveillance area. In the first stage, fire is reliably detected under diverse fire scenarios. The risk of fire is estimated in the second stage. Applying Purser's Fractional Effective Dose (FED) model which quantitates harmfulness of toxic gases, the risk of the surveillance area and evacuation time are calculated. A fire experiment conducted using four different types of combustion materials for the verification of the system resulted in a maximum error rate of 12.5%. By using FED calculation and risk estimation methods, the proposed system can detect various signs of fire faster than conventional systems.
