  • This paper presents the deformation characteristics of cam ring in a balanced type vane pump. Cam ring is operated in the high-pressure condition. Therefore the local deformation of cam ring affects the characteristics of compression, vane motion and noise and vibration. We analyzed the deformation of cam ring for the three types by using the finite element method. The deformed shape of cam ring and the effects of deformation on the compression are presented. As a result of analysis, we know that the right hole of the cam ring has advantage for reducing the pressure overshoot.

  • Among severe plastic deformation processes, ECAP has drawn much attention due to its advantages including ultra-fine grain size material production. In this paper, ECAP process with pure -Zirconium is investigated due to its applicability to nuclear reactors. The finite element method is employed to investigate the deformation behavior of materials during ECAP process. In particular, effects of process parameters such as die deformation and channel angles on the material behaviors have been investigated. Experimental studies have also been performed to verify the numerical results.

  • To reflect the size effect of material $(1\sim15{\mu}m)$ during plastic deformation of polycrystalline copper, a constitutive equation which includes the strain gradient plasticity theory and intrinsic material length model is coupled with the finite element analysis and applied to plane strain deformation problem. The method of least square has been used to calculate the strain gradient at each element during deformation and the effect of distributed force on the strain gradient is investigated as well. It shows when material size is less than the intrinsic material length $(1.54{\mu}m)$, its deformation behavior is quite different compared with that computed from the conventional plasticity. The generation of strain gradient is greatly suppressed, but it appears again as the material size increases. Results also reveal that the strain gradient leads to deformation hardening. The distributed force plays a role to amplify the strain gradient distribution.

  • Base and saddle feed drive system in machine tool puts in operation for Improvement of life and endure by high frequency heat treatment. In this time, work requirement of establishment to gets by repeat experimentation. In this paper, using the finite elementary method, we predict and revision processing, and gets minimizing of deformation and reduce the progress of Grinding works. Moreover, having high frequency heat treatment, the maximum deformation genesis m the middle parts without slideway length. Take deformation Into finite element program (ANSYS) of taper process in roughing process, after having high frequency heat treatment, existed quantity of deformation can be reduced down to 80 percents.

  • In the current study, a rate-dependent crystal plasticity finite element method (CPFEM) was used to simulate flow stress behavior and texture evolution of a body-centered cubic (BCC) crystalline material during plastic deformation at room temperature. To account for crystallographic slip and rotation, a rate-dependent crystal constitutive law with a hardening model was incorporated into an in-house finite element program, CAMPform3D. Microstructural heterogeneity and anisotropy were handled by assigning a crystallographic orientation to each integration point of the element and determining the stiffness matrix of the individual crystal. Uniaxial tensile tests of single crystals with different crystallographic orientations were simulated to determine the material parameters in the hardening model. The texture evolution during four different deformation modes - uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, channel die compression, and simple shear deformation - was investigated based on the comparison with experimental data available in the literature.

  • A practical example of the axisymmetric deep drawing process is simulated by the elastic-plastic finite element analysis using updated Lagrangian approach considering the large deformation. An approach is suggested to solve the problem of the ductile fracture that may encounter during the deep drawing process. The result can be applied to the design of the die for the axisymmetric deep drawing.

  • Caliber design in bar and rod rolling depends on the designer's experience, which in general is acquired through costly trial-and-error process. As a prerequisite for developing a scientific approach to caliber design, we present a finite element model to simulate 3-D deformation of bars and rods occurring in multi-pass sequence. The results are compared with measurements obtained from POSCO for to assess the solution accuracy. The comparison shows that the simulation results agree well experiments.

  • We highlight the alternative presentation of the Cauchy-Riemann conditions for the analyticity of a complex variable function and consider plane equilibrium problem for an elastic transversely isotropic layer, in finite deformation. We state the fundamental problems and consider traction boundary value problem, as an example of fundamental problem-one. A simple solution of“Lame's problem”for an infinite layer is obtained. The profile of the deformed contour is given; and this depends on the order of the term used in the power series specification for the complex potential and on the material constants of the medium.

  • Recently, as steel structures become higher and more long-spanned, application of high-strength steels is increasing gradually. For seismic design of steel structures using high-strength steels(POSTEN60, POSTEN80), analytical method, can describe the large deformation and inelastic cyclic behavior generated by non-proportional cyclic loading, are required. In this paper, cyclic plasticity model was proposed by results of monotonic loading tests ant cyclic loading tests. Three-dimensional finite element analysis is developed by using proposed model and finite deformation theory and verified as compare with experiment result. Using 3-dimensional elastic-plastic finite deformation analysis, seismic analysis of high-strength steel pipe-section piers are carried out. Also, seismic performance of high-strength steel pipe-section piers in parameter of diameter-thickness ratio was clarified.
