  • This paper presents an efficient defect detection and classification system based on reference image for COF (Chip-on-Film) which encounters fatal defects after ultra fine pattern fabrication. These defects include typical ones such as open, mouse bite (near open), hard short and soft short. In order to detect these defects, conventionally it needs visual examination or electric circuits. However, these methods requires huge amount of time and money. In this paper, based on reference image, the proposed system detects fatal defect and efficiently classifies it to one of 4 types. The proposed system includes the preprocessing of the test image, the extraction of ROI, the analysis of local binary pattern and classification. Through simulations with lots of sample images, it is shown that the proposed system is very efficient in reducing huge amount of time and money for detecting the defects of ultra fine pattern COF.

  • Using the recycled aggregate can reduces the landfill space, the demand for natural raw material for new construction. Some investigations have been carried out to study the shear behaviors of RC beams with recycled aggregates. But these have some limitation due to the use of low quality recycled aggregates and small-scale specimens in the laboratory. In this study, four full-scaled RC beams were tested to evaluate the effects of replacement level (0,30, 60, and 100%) of recycled fine aggregate on shear behavior of RC beams. The results showed that the beams with recycled fine aggregates show similar crack pattern and failure mode compared with the beam with natural aggregate. Also, the beams with recycled fine aggregates present the similar shear strength except the one with the replacement level of 100% recycled fine aggregates. Shear strength were compared with the provisions in current code (KCI2007) and the equation proposed by Zsutty. The KCI equations were conservative and subsequently can be used for the shear design of recycled aggregate concrete beam.

  • This paper presents the test results on the shear performance of large-size reinforced concrete beams using recycled fine aggregate to evaluate its applicability to structural concrete. The performance of these beams is compared to that of similar beams casted with natural coarse and fine aggregates. All of the beam specimens without shear reinforcement had $400mm{\times}600mm$ rectangular cross section and a shear span ratio (a/d) of 5.0. Five concrete mixtures with different replacement levels of recycled fine aggregates (0, 30, 60, 70 and 100%) were used to obtain a nominal concrete compressive strength of 28MPa. The test results of load-deflection curve, shear deformation, diagonal cracking load, crack pattern, ultimate shear strength, and failure mode are examined and compared. In addition, code and empirical equations from KCI, JSCE, CSA, Zsutty, and MCFT were considered to evaluate the applicability of these equations for predicting shear strength of reinforced concrete beam with recycled fine aggregate. The results showed that the overall shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams incorporating less than 60% recycled fine aggregate was comparable with that of conventional concrete beam. The MCFT gave good prediction and other code equations were conservative in predicting the shear strength of the tested beams. The beam specimens with replacement of 70 and 100% of natural fine aggregates by recycled fine aggregates showed different failure mode than other tested beams.

  • This study is carried out to develop the new process for the fabrication of ultra-fine electrodes on the flexible substrates using superhydrophobic effect. A facile method was developed to form the ultra-fine trenches on the flexible substrates treated by plasma etching and to print the fine metal electrodes using conductive nano-ink. Various plasma etching conditions were investigated for the hydrophobic surface treatment of flexible polyimide (PI) films. The micro-trench on the hydrophobic PI film fabricated under optimized conditions was obtained by mechanical scratching, which gave the hydrophilic property only to the trench area. Finally, the patterning by selective deposition of ink materials was performed using the conductive silver nano-ink. The interface between the conductive nanoparticles and the flexible substrates were characterized by scanning electron microscope. The increase of the sintering temperature and metal concentration of ink caused the reduction of electrical resistance. The sintering temperature lower than $200^{\circ}C$ resulted in good interfacial bonding between Ag electrode and PI film substrate.

  • In injection molding of an optical disk, a toric lens, etc., their performance depends on the transcription preciseness of fine surface structure of a mold. However, transcription behavior has not been made clear yet, because transcription is made in very short time and the structure is very small. In this paper, transcription properties have been examined, by using V-grooves of various sizes. machined on mold surfaces, and the following results are obtained. (1) Transcription properties have been made clear experimentally and it was found that the mold temperature $T_D$ makes great influence on the transcription property and that compression applying time $t_c$ should be taken more than 2.0s for fine transcription. (2) A mechanical model of transcription process, in consideration with strain recovery due to viscoelastic property of polymer. is proposed. (3) Simulation results agree with experimental ones fairly well. It means that the transcription model is useful for estimation of transcription property in advance of an actual. injection molding.

  • Recently high speed mixer, which is mixing, grinding, dispersion for liquid-liquid material, has been widely used several industries such as food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, electronic material. This high speed mixer has a core element part called particle separation device. Particle separation device, which makes mixed liquid and liquid material using shear forces from a rotor and a stator, is a decisive factor in the distributed parts. In this study, we examined the velocity distribution of the two models of particle separation device using computation fluid dynamics, so that we were able to see the difference of the velocity distribution according to the shape. Also, by experiment, we observed that the use of rotor-screen type is deemed more suitable in case of accurately considering the effect of improving of the dispersibility through the circulation of the future.

  • Synovial sarcoma is a rare soft tissue tumor accounting for 5-10% of soft tissue sarcomas. Most arise in the extremities and trunk, and a small proportion occur in the abdominal wall, head and neck legion, and mediastinum. It manifests different phenotypic subtypes that render their cytologic evaluation challenging. Moreover, cytomorphologic description of the epithelial component of synovial sarcoma is rare in Korea. We report a case of biphasic synovial sarcoma on the right lower extremity in a 49-year-old woman diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology. The aspirate was moderately cellular and composed of a mixture of tissue fragments and dissociated cells with bland chromatin, inconspicuous nucleoli, and oval to spindle-shaped cytoplasm. Mitosis was rare. A monolayer sheet of epithelial component was seen. The cells in this monolayer sheet had more abundant distinct cytoplasm, round nuclei, and prominent micronucleoli. Histologic examination showed a biphasic pattern consisting of mostly sarcomatous stroma and a few small glandular areas at the periphery of the tumor.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the contents of residual solvents and mineral components(11 kinds) in ginseng extracts with different extracting conditions(5 types) and commercial ginseng extract products(domestic, imported). Fine root was extracted with solution having various ethanol concentration after hexane treatment. Among 5 type extracts, residual solvent(hexane) was detected ginseng extracts treated ethanol mixed with hexane. But extracts that dried after soaked in hexane wasn't detected hexane. Mineral components(Al, Mn, Fe, Cu and Zn) were detected in fine root and 5 types of extracts. The contents of mineral components between fine root and extracts with various extracting conditions were similar, however, extracts that dried after soaked in hexane showed the lower amount in Al, Fe, Pb than the others. In comparison with commercial ginseng ex-tract products(domestic, imported), the distribution pattern of mineral was similar but the contents were a little different.

  • 2.22-inch qVGA $(240{\times}320)$ amorphous silicon thin film transistor liquid active matrix crystal display (${\alpha}$- Si TFT-AMLCD) panel has been successfully demonstrated employing a 2.5 um fine-patterning technology by a wet etch process. Higher resolution 2.22-inch qVGA LCD panel with an aperture ratio of 58% can be fabricated because the 2.5 um fine pattern formation technique is combined with high thermal photo-resist (PR) development. In addition, a novel concept of unique ${\alpha}$-Si TFT process architecture, which is advantageous in terms of reliability, was proposed in the fabrication of 2.22-inch qVGA LCD panel. Overall results show that the 2.5 um finepatterning is a considerably significant technology to obtain higher aperture ratio for higher resolution ${\alpha}$-Si TFT-LCD panel realization.

  • Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy has become the procedure of choice for initial diagnosis of adrenal masses. However, there have been relatively few reports discussing the FNA cytologic features of adrenal cortical carcinoma. Recently, we experienced a case of FNA cytology of bilateral adrenal cortical carcinoma in a 61-year old man. The smear revealed loosely cohesive pleomorphic tumor cells with hemorrhagic and necrotic background. The tumor cells showed oval to spindle hyperchromatic nuclei and prominent nucleoli with frequent mitotic figures. The cytoplasm of tumor cells was relatively abundant and sometimes vacuolated. These cytologic findings were interpreted as an ad renal cortical carcinoma, undifferentiated pattern.
