Customer population management models can be classified into three categories: the first category includes the models that analyze the customer population at cohort level; the second one deals with the customer population at aggregate level; the third one has interest in the interactions among the customer populations in the competitive market. Our study proposes a model that can analyze the dynamics of customer population in consumer-durables market at aggregate level. The dynamics of customer population includes the retention curves from the purchase or at a specific duration time, the duration time expectancy at a specific duration time, and customer population growth or decline including net replacement rate, intrinsic rate of increase, and the generation time of customer population. For this study, we adopt mathematical ecology models, redefine them, and restructure interdisciplinary models to analyze the dynamics of customer population at aggregate level. We use the data of previous research on dynamic customer population management at cohort level to compare its results with those of ours and to demonstrate the useful analytical effects which the precious research cannot provide for marketers.

Recently the fingerprint is widely used as one of biometrics to improve the security of financial mobile applications, because of its user convenience and high recognition rate. However, in order to apply fingerprint algorithms to finance and security applications, the recognition rate and processing speed of the fingerprint algorithms have to be improved further. In this paper, we propose the parallel fingerprint enhancement algorithm on general-purpose computing on graphics processing unit (GPGPU) using OpenCL. We discuss the analysis of the parallelism in the fingerprint algorithm as well as the exploration of optimization parameters of the parallel fingerprint algorithm to improve the performance. The experimental results showed that the execution of parallel fingerprint enhancement algorithm on GPGPUs was accelerated from 29.4 upto 69.2 times compared with the execution of the original one on the host CPUs.

A traditional approach to the prediction of economic and financial variables takes the form of statistical models to summarize past observations and to project them into the envisioned future. Over the past decade, an increasing number of organizations has turned to the use of neural networks. To date, however, many spheres of interest still lack a systematic evaluation of the statistical and neural approaches. One of these lies in the prediction of corporate bond yields for Korea. This paper reports on a comparative evaluation of ARIMA models and neural networks in the context of interest rate prediction. An additional experiment relates to an integration of the two methods. More specifically, the statistical model serves as a filter by providing estimtes which are then used as input into the neural network models.

Purpose: This study was aimed to examine mothers'knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV)vaccination to prevent cervical cancer in Korea. Methods: From September 20 to October 10 2011, 101 mothers who have adolescent girls were surveyed with questionnaires about their general characteristics, the knowledge of HPV vaccine, inoculation rate and vaccination-related factors of their daughters. Results: The percentage of correct answers for HPV vaccine knowledge was 24.2% and the HPV vaccination rate was only 5.9%. HPV vaccine knowledge score of the vaccination group was significantly higher than that of the non-vaccinated group. Mothers said that the reasons why they didn't vaccinate their daughters against the HPV was the financial burden, the lack of HPV knowledge, and worries about possible side effects. The participants addressed that they understood the appropriate age for vaccination was sixteen. Conclusion: We recommend that more educational and promotional efforts need to be given for mothers in order to improve their knowledge of HPV vaccination and to increase the performance rates of HPV immunization against cervical cancer for their daughters.

This paper considers a revenue maximization problem on a single processor. Each job is identified as its processing time, initial reward, reward decreasing rate, and preferred start time. If the processor starts a job at time zero, revenue of the job is its initial reward. However, the revenue decreases linearly with the reward decreasing rate according to its processing start time till its preferred start time and finally its revenue is zero if it is started the processing after the preferred time. Our objective is to find the optimal sequence which maximizes the total revenue. For the problem, we characterize the optimal solution properties and prove the NP-hardness. Based upon the characterization, we develop a branch-and-bound algorithm for the optimal sequence and suggest five heuristic algorithms for efficient solutions. The numerical tests show that the characterized properties are useful for effective and efficient algorithms.

Women’s employment rate is decreasing and unemployment rate is increasing since we crime to financial crisis in Korea. So, many women are interested in the running their own business. But people have not recognized the business as a field of women and women have not been accustomed to nil the business. This study aims to introduce the family business as an alternative of women’s employment. This study examines the prospect about family business in Korea through the literature. For this purpose, definition and present state about family business in Korea, motive and background which women start or succeed the family business, advantages and disadvantages which women have when they run the family business, and methods for supporting woman entrepreneur are suggested. finally, some suggestions in educational field for enlarging the women’s roles and relative importance in family business are presented.

Recently many solid-state laser systems were widely used in the medical applications. So it is necessary to study various optimal laser parameters for adopting new medical treatments. Alexandrite laser using switching mode power supply has designed and experimented to adjust a pulse repetition rate by PIC one-chip microprocessor. The fundamental results have been obtained during the first financial year in 2002. We will be able to find out the optimal hair removal characteristics by the repetitive experiments of Alexandrite laser as the parameters such as pulse repetition rate, pulse width, and pulse energy etc.

In this study, we present a fast option pricing method for four asset equity-linked securities (ELS) using Brownian bridge. The proposed method is based on Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and a Brownian bridge approach. Currently, three asset ELS is the most popular ELS among multi-asset ELSs. However, four asset ELS emerged as an alternative to three asset ELS under low interest rate environment to give higher coupon rate to investors. We describe in detail the computational solution algorithm for the four underlying asset step-down ELS. The numerical tests confirm the accuracy and speed of the method.

After the financial crisis, the spread of indirect employment, which is an outsourcing method, is gradually becoming common in our society, and the risk of harm is relatively high or the proportion of simple jobs is high. Simple workers have a higher proportion of non-manufacturing industries such as the service industry, and production workers are intensively used in the manufacturing industry. In Article 63 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, contractors must take necessary safety and health measures. In addition, due to the expansion of the scope of contracts under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, it is necessary to review the appropriateness of industrial accident prevention measures and implementation standards.

This study investigates aircraft lessor business models by studying cases and interviewing experts to analyze investors and business strategies of aircraft lessor. The results confirm that there is a wide range of investors including institutional investors, financial institutions, insurance companies, corporations, and wealthy individuals for aircraft lessor. Aircraft lessors can be categorized based on its required rate of return (cost of capital) into bank-investing core, institutional investor-investing value-added, and hedge fund-investing opportunistic. Aircraft lessor decides leasing rate by aircraft purchasing price and lessee's credit rating. Core aircraft lessors invest in new aircrafts for new placement or sale-and-leaseback strategy requiring little technical risk in aircraft, value-added lessors invest in middle-aged aircrafts for re-leasing, opportunistic lessors invest in old aircrafts for freighter conversion or part-out strategy requiring high level of expertise. This study provides insights for future Korean aircraft lessor establishment and investment.
