양질계수(Quality Factor)를 이용한 방진마스크 필터의 성능평가 (Performance of Respirator Filters Using Quality Factor (qF))

  • Most of manufacturers try to produce the most efficient filter for respirators with the lowest breathing resistance. Filter performance depends on low penetration, i.e., high efficiency (%), and low pressure drop ($mmH_2O$). This study was performed to evaluate performance of respirator filters by quality factor ($q_F$) and suggest the direction for improvement of respirator filters of good quality in Korea. Two mechanical filters, S and K made in Korea, three filtering facepieces, S made in China, C made in Korea and M made in USA, which were widely used in the workplace, were selected and tested efficiency and pressure drop in accordance with flow rate, using with Automated Filter Tester Model 8110 (TSI, USA). The best quality factor within the same respirator filter categories was $0.0672cm^{-1}\;H_2O$ for mechanical filter S, $0.0698cm^{-1}\;H_2O$ for filtering facepiece M at flow rate of 32Lpm. Mechanical filter S would be the best suitable during heavy work since qulity factors decrease less sharply than any others as increased flow rates. It was necessary for mechanical filter S to lower pressure drop without increasing efficiency, but mechanical filter K should be increased efficiency and decreased pressure drop. While filtering facepiece M had the best quality performance of three ones, Sand C should get much higher efficiency and lower pressure for better performance.

효율적인 여과를 위한 그리드 필터를 갖는 R-Tree 의 확장 (Extended R-Tree with Grid Filter for Efficient Filtering)

  • 공간 인덱스인 R-Tree를 이용하여 조건에 만족하는 공간 객체를 찾기 위해서 MBR의 비교하는 여과 과정만으로는 부정확한 경우가 있으며 그러한 경우에는 해당 공간 객체를 읽어 조건과 직접 비교하는 과정, 즉 정제과정이 필요하게 된다. 정제과정을 수행하기 위해서는 디스크 입출력이 요구되고 고비용 공간 연상을 수행해야 하므로 이는 검색 비용이 커지는 요인이 된다. 그래서, 여과 과정후의 후보 객체수를 최소화하기 위한 2단계 여과 기법들이 연구되었지만, 여과 효율이 떨어지거나, 추가로 데이터를 유지해야하거나, 원래 객체의 정보를 잃어버려 객체들을 재구성해야하는 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이차 여과 과정에서 공간 객체의 존재여부를 저장하는 진위 테이블인 그리드 필터를 이용하여 간단한 논리 연산만으로 공간객체를 검색할 수 있도록 하는 확장된 R-Tree를 제안한다. 그러므로, 그리드 필터를 가지는 확장된 R-Tree 는 효율적인 이차 여과과정을 수행하기 때문에 여과를 위한 연산비용이 작고, 근사의 질이 높아 여과 효율이 우수하다.

보건의료종사자의 안면부여과식 마스크의 사용과 밀착도검사의 중요성 (Usage of Filtering-facepiece Masks for Healthcare Workers and Importance of Fit Testing)

  • Objectives: One aim of the study is to compare filtering facepiece masks for healthcare workers between Korea and other countries. The other is to emphasize the importance of fit testing for these masks using an analysis of previous research. Materials: An extensive literature review was performed by searching a number of websites and existing studies. Results: KF94 and KF99 masks certified by the Korean CDC are suitable for healthcare workers as filtering facepiece masks. The standards for these respirators are similar to FFP2 and FFP3 of EN 143 and 149. The performance, such as filtering efficiency, is almost the same between KP94 and N95. It was found that fit testing of respirators for healthcare workers was important to reduce infection risk. Conclusions: KF94 should be emphasized as filtering facepiece masks for healthcare workers rather than N95. Even though Korea has no fit testing regulations, implementing fit testing in healthcare settings is strongly recommended to decrease infection risk.

영상 데이터 압축을 위한 Temporal Filter의 구성 (Temporal Filter for Image Data Compression)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 잡음 제거용 순환 filter와 달리 시간축 대역제한을 통해 시각특성의 개선과 영상데이타 압축 효과를 개선시키는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 일반적으로 시간축 대역제한을 수행하려면 시간방향으로의 aliasing을 고려해야 한다. 신호 처리 관점에서 보면 신호에 aliasing이 생긴다면 이의 영향을 받지않고 (de-aliasing) filtering하는 것은 불가능하다고 알려져있다. 그러나 영상신호에서는 baseband spectrum 구조를 예측할 수 있고, 이를 토대로 aliasing의 영향을 받지않는 대역제한 방안을 생각할 수 있다. 이는 이동벡터의 궤적을 따라 공간 영역에서 대역제한(Motion Adaptive Spatial Filter)을 하는 것으로서 이들의 특성 및 구성방안으 제안한다. 이렇게 구성된 filter는 aliasing의 제기 뿐만아니라 시간축 잡음의 제거에도 기여를 하게 된다. 실험에서는 제안방법의 de-aliasing 특성과 영상부호화기로의 적용결과를 알아본다.

Efficient Geographical Information-Based En-route Filtering Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • The existing en-route filtering schemes only consider some simple false data injection attacks, which results in lower safety performance. In this paper, we propose an efficient geographical information-based en-route filtering scheme (EGEFS), in which each forwarding node verifies not only the message authentication codes (MACs), but also the report identifier and the legitimacy and authenticity of locations carried in a data report. Thus, EGEFS can defend against not only the simple false data injection attacks and the replay attack, but also the collusion attack with forged locations proposed in this paper. In addition, we propose a new method for electing the center-of-stimulus (CoS) node, which can ensure that only one detecting node will be elected as the CoS node to generate one data report for an event. The simulation results show that, compared to the existing en-route filtering schemes, EGEFS has higher safety performance, because it can resist more types of false data injection attacks, and it also has higher filtering efficiency and lower energy expenditure.

  • In this paper, we employ the adaptive comb filtering for effective noise reduction in mobile communication environment. Adaptive comb filtering is a well-known method for noise reduction, but requires correct pitch period and must be applied just in voiced speech frames. To satisfy these requirements we use two kinds of information extracted from speech packets, one of which is the pitch period information measured precisely by a speech coder and the other is the frame rate information related to a decision on speech or silence frame. Experiments on speech recognition system confirm the efficiency of this method. Feature parameters employing this method give superior performance in noise environment to those extracted directly from output speech.

  • A conventional image coder, such as JPEG, requires not only DCT and quantization but also additional pre-filtering under noisy environment. Since the pre-filtering removes camera noise and improves coding efficiency dramatically, its efficient implementation has been an important issue. Based on well-known noise removal techniques in image processing fields, this paper introduces an efficient scheme by adapting a noise removal procedure to block-based image coders. By using two-dimensional DCT factorization, the proposed image coder has only a modified DCT and a VLC, and performs pre-filtering and quantization simultaneously in the modified DCT operation.

  • This paper presents a discussion on lubricating oil filters. The maintenance of lubricating oil filters can improve the performance of mechanical systems and extend the service life of the lubricating oil. Therefore, the effective management of the lubricating oil can extend the service life of the machine and reduce maintenance costs. A representative method for managing lubricating oil is filtering the lubricating oil using a lubricant filter. However, effectively managing a lubricating oil using a lubricant filter requires an understanding of the related knowledge. In this paper, we present the definition, classification, characteristics, specifications, performance, and self-cleaning function of lubricating oil filters. The lubricant filters are classified based on the filter material, filtering method, filtering location, and amount of filtered fluid. Cellulose and glass fiber materials are conventionally used as materials for lubricant filters, and recently, metal materials, which show excellent durability, are being increasingly adopted. The filtering methods can be classified into physical, chemical, magnetic, and electric field methods, and the lubricant filters can be classified according to their location in the lubrication system. The beta ratio and efficiency of the lubricant filter can be determined based on the performance of the filter. Finally, there are many products or technologies that add a self-cleaning function to the filter to remove foreign substances or contaminants for efficient management.

  • 전처리 필터링은 카메라로부터 들어오는 잡음을 제거하여 부호화 효율을 높여주기 때문에, 전처리 과정의 효과적인 구현은 동영상 압축에서 중요한 연구분야 중의 하나였다 본 논문에 근사화된 일반화 위너 필터링(approximated generalized Wiener filtering)과 이차원 DCT의 분해(factorization)를 바탕으로, 부호화기 내부에서 수행되는 효과적인 전처리 필터링 방법을 제안한다 제안한 전처리 필터링은 원 영상 블록 (original image block)과 움직임 보상된 차 영상 블록(motion-compensated error block)의 DCT계수들에 적절한 값들을 곱하는 것으로 수행된다 전처리 필터링이 동영상 압축기에 깊이 파묻혀 있지만, 전처리 과정으로 인한 연산량의 증가는 전체 부호화 과정에 비해 크지 않으며, 전통적인 블록 부호화 기법의 틀은 그대로 유지한다 간결한 구조와 연산에도 불구하고 제안한 방법은 잡음이 있는 동영상에 대해서 좋은 필터링 및 부호화 성능을 나타낸다.
