This work is about the development of jet-fuel resistant PVC sealant using a polyester plasticizer. PVC copolymer was compounded with adipic acid glycol(Songcizer P-3000) or DOP plasticizers. Fuel-immersed and non-immersed penetration, solubility, flow, and elongation by tensile adhesion of PVC compounds were measured. Penetration increase by fuel immersion and solubility of PVC compounds with adipic acid glycol polyester plasticizer were smaller than those of PVC compounds with DOP plasticizer. Elongation by tensile adhesion test of PVC compound containing 500 phr of Songcizer P-3000 decreased proportionally to the content of DCDP (dicyclopentadiene) base petroleum resin adhesion promoter. Calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$) filler inhibited the diffusion of fuel in all the PVC compounds and decreased the solubility of PVC compounds containing Songcizer P-3000.
In this work, we have discussed new engineering systems for preparing carbon master batch composed by carbon black and various organic compounds. In general, polymer resin, which applied for automobile tire, household items, and various industry items, is used with the fillers including carbon black and silica to control the color or properties. Domestic part and material industry has been remarkably developed in that the development of materials including the compounding of raw materials. Meanwhile, the engineering technique for mass production has not reached to a requirement of industry due to slow technique development and high dependence on foreign. Thus, we will focus on the introduction of new engineering technique developed by domestic company for preparing carbon master batch.
There are various shielding materials that have been considered; the use of a metallic plate or the layering of a conductive material on a plastic surface and the insertion of filler in plastics. All of these methods have shown their merits and weakness. Therefore, many studies have concentrated on developing materials that effectively cut down EMI without increase in weights of housing materials. In these respects, this study has focused on investigations of the shielding effect of materials that have electroless nickel plating on the lamella structured micro particles surface with low specific gravity. When a film of electroless nickel were plated on a micro particle surfaces and then mixed with paint, the electromagnetic shielding effects were measured as 63dB. Although these effects were less than that 90dB of the copper plate, trials in a series of 6 times increased the shielding effect by IOdB and is applicable to wide range of EMI shielding.

In this study the wear behavior of ultra high molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE) filled with kaolin particles by different methods was investigated. UHMWPE/kaolin composites were prepared by two different methods: polymerization-filling and powder mixing. Particularly in a powder mixing method. Particle dispersion and wear property according to powder mining method were examined. It was found from wear test that filling of inorganic filler into UHMWPE by polymerization filling was more effective way than by powder mixing method in improving Wear resistance of UHMWPE. It was also confirmed that abrasive wear was dominant wear mechanism and particle dispersion in the composite as well as interface property was an important factor in controlling the wear behavior of the resulting composites.
The adhesion behaviors and processability of NBR as a sealing material were investigated. In order to find the optimum formulation, the adhesive properties and processability were observed as the change of the contents of acrylonitrile (ACN) in NBR. Effects of Mooney viscosity, filler, plasticizer and crosslinking agent on the adhesion behaviors were also studied. The contents of ACN in NBR have great effects on adhesion behaviors and processability in NBR sealing. To know the optimum condition of roll mixing, degree of dispersion was investigated. It was confirmed that degree of dispersion was influenced by various factors such as mixing order, time, and temperature. The crosslinking system was studied as the observation of sulfur system, peroxide system, crosslinking density, and structure. From the variation of the dry condition and hexamine contents, the relation between adhesive and NBR was studied. These results show the adhesion properties and processability are dependent on the contents of ACN and crosslinking system.

Flip chip assembly on organic substrates using ACAs have received much attentions due to many advantages such as easier processing, good electrical performance, lower cost, and low temperature processing compatible with organic substrates. ACAs are generally composed of epoxy polymer resin and small amount of conductive fillers (less than 10 wt.%). As a result, ACAs have almost the same CTE values as an epoxy material itself which are higher than conventional underfill materials which contains lots of fillers. Therefore, it is necessary to lower the CTE value of ACAs to obtain more reliable flip chip assembly on organic substrates using ACAs. To modify the ACA composite materials with some amount of conductive fillers, non-conductive fillers were incorporated into ACAs. In this paper, we investigated the effect of fillers on the thermo-mechanical properties of modified ACA composite materials and the reliability of flip chip assembly on organic substrates using modified ACA composite materials. Contact resistance changes were measured during reliability tests such as thermal cycling, high humidity and temperature, and high temperature at dry condition. It was observed that reliability results were significantly affected by CTEs of ACA materials especially at the thermal cycling test. Results showed that flip chip assembly using modified ACA composites with lower CTEs and higher modulus by loading non-conducting fillers exhibited better contact resistance behavior than conventional ACAs without non-conducting fillers. Microwave model and high-frequency measurement of the ACF flip-chip interconnection was investigated using a microwave network analysis. ACF flip chip interconnection has only below 0.1nH, and very stable up to 13 GHz. Over the 13 GHz, there was significant loss because of epoxy capacitance of ACF. However, the addition of $SiO_2filler$ to the ACF lowered the dielectric constant of the ACF materials resulting in an increase of resonance frequency up to 15 GHz. Our results indicate that the electrical performance of ACF combined with electroless Wi/Au bump interconnection is comparable to that of solder joint.
The ideal restorative material should mimic the properties of the tissues it replaces. Dental composite resins have been used widely as restorative materials due to its advantages such as excellent esthetics and ease of manipulation. But inadequate wear resistance has been a major factor limiting the use of composite restorative materials. Improved manufacturing techniques have allowed the development of hybrid composites, with a greater percentage volume filler loading, which have improved physical and mechanical properties. However they are lacking in the study of wear resistance. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the wear of human enamel against ceromer by the use of a pin-on-disk type wear testers. Discs of ceromer(Targis ; lvoclar Vivadent, Amherst. NY) and discs of type III gold alloy as a control were used f9r test specimens. Intact cusp of premolar and molar were used for enamel specimens. The wear of enamel was determined by weigh-ing the cusp before and after each test, and the weight converted to volumes by average densi-ty of enamel. Surface profilometer was used to quantify wear of the ceromer and gold specimens. Vicker's hardness tester was used to evaluate the surface hardness of test specimens. The SEM was used to evaluate the wear surfaces The results were as follows; 1. Ceromer produced less enamel wear than gold(p<0.05) 2. The wear volume of ceromer was greater than that of gold(p<0.01) 3. The hardess of ceromer was lower than that of gold, but there was no correlation between the hardness and wear of the ceromer and gold. 4. SEM analysis revealed that there were many voids and microcracks in the wear tract of ceromer In gold group, many minute V-shaped grooves were examined.
In order to study the behaviors of inorganic fillers in recycling of the waste agricultural plastic films, the washed PE fluffs from Shihwa and Jungeup Plant belonging to ENVICO were used respectively. First of all, the test pellets were manufactured by adding of inorganic fillers suchlike calcium carbonate and calpet by certain portions to PE fluffs and then the tested sheets were formed. The mechanical and thermal properties of the samples were measured and compared with others. The items measured were tensile, flexural, Izod impact, HDT, MFT, and so on. Morphologies were also investigated for various samples using the SEM. Finally, optimum ratios between recycled PE and inorganic additives were found out for the best products in physical condition as well as in economic point of view.

Use of heavy fuel fly ash (HFFA) (diesel and cracked fuel) for power generation in Saudi Arabia has generated and accumulated large quantities of HFFA as a byproduct. In this research, HFFA is studied with the emphasis on the utilization of this waste material in concrete blocks and asphalt concrete mixes. Two types of mixes, one with low and other with high cement content, were studied for concrete blocks. Different mixes having varying percentages of HFFA (0% to 25%), as cement/sand replacement or as an additive, were studied. The performance of concrete blocks is evaluated in terms of compressive strength, water absorption, durability and environmental concerns. The results showed that blocks cannot be cast if more than 15% HFFA is used; also there is a marginal reduction in the strength of all the mixes before and after being exposed to the sulfate solution for a period of ten months. HFFA is studied in asphalt concrete mixes in two ways, as an asphalt modifier (3&5%) and as a filler (50%) replacement, the results showed an improvement in stiffness and fatigue life of mixes. However, the stability and indirect tensile strength loss were found to be high as compared to the control mix due to moisture damage, indicating a need of using antistripping agents. On environmental concerns, it was found that most of the concerned elements are within acceptable limits also it is observed that lower concentration of barium is leached out with the higher HFFA concentrations, which indicates that HFFA may work as an adsorbent for this leaching element.

The effects of reinforcing materials on durability and mechanical properties of V-rib belt were investigated. Cotton fiber and ZnO were used as a filler for CR, and cotton and aramid fiber were used for EPDM rubber compounds. These materials were prepared as a specimen and V-rib belt for heat resistant and mechanical test. High contents of ZnO give improved wear resistance, and higher contents of cotton fiber showed higher durability in high rotation speed but lower wear resistance for CR rubber compounds. Using the aramid and cotton fiber together in EPDM rubber compounds, thermal and wear resistance were improved simultaneously. The material containing EPDM matrix showed better durability and wear resistance than those of containing CR matrix comparing in the same cotton fiber contents.
