This study aims at examining the design factors of the air diffuser system in a particular view of field conditions, and thus improving the procedures currently applied to design the system. First, the CFD model is built for an air diffuser system suitable for field conditions of real reservoirs. Then, the design factors, including destratification number, destratification radius and efficiency of the air diffuser system, are analyzed after a series of simulations over various field conditions. The result shows successful correlations of design factors with DN at the condition, and they lead to estimate of the destratification radius and efficiency of air diffuser system based on DN. It is finally concluded that the design factors are improved such that the air diffuser system is suitable for the field conditions of dam reservoirs.
This work presents a hybrid generator, which is a combination of a permanent magnet (PM) and winding structure with a PM exciter. The field winding of the proposed hybrid generator is fed by the PM exciter and the embedded current controller, which is installed in the generator shaft. In the no-load condition, the output voltage of the generator is produced by the PM flux of the generator without any field winding current. The field winding current produces an insufficient flux to retain the output voltage of the generator when the load is injected. The total efficiency can be increased from the PM exciter and PM flux of the generator. The field current has to be controlled inside the proposed generator. The generated power from the PM exciter is used to excite the field flux of the generator. The embedded current controller is commanded by the external voltage controller using the infrared wireless method. The 10 kW prototype hybrid PM generator is designed and tested to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system. The experimental results are compared with those of the winding generator with PM exciter.
For the combination of MRI and magnetic particle hyperthermia(MPH), we investigated the relative heating efficiency with respect to the strength of the static magnetic field under which the magnetic nanoparticles are to be heated by RF magnetic field. We performed nanoparticle heating experiments at the fringe field of 3T MRI magnet with applying the RF magnetic field perpendicularly to the static magnetic field. The static field strengths were 0T, 0.1T, 0.2T, and 0.3T. To prevent the coil heat from conducting to the nanoparticle suspension, we cooled the heating solenoid coil with temperature-controlled water with applying heat insulators between the solenoid coil and the nanoparticle container. We observed significant decrease of heat generation, up to 6% at 0.3T(100% at 0T), due to the magnetic saturation of the nanoparticles of 15 nm diameter under the static field. We think MPH is still feasible at low magnetic field lower than 0.3T if stronger RF magnetic field generation is permitted.

The objective of this study is to predict the fuel efficiency of an agricultural tractor. The fuel efficiency of the tractor during rotary tillage was predicted using numerical modeling. A numerical model was developed using Simulation X. Based on tractor power flow, numerical modeling consisted of an engine, transmission, PTO (power take off), and hydraulics. The specifications of major components utilized in the numerical model were the same as those of a 71 kW tractor (field test tractor). The load that was inputted for fuel efficiency prediction into the simulation model was obtained from a field test. Fuel efficiency predictions were conducted by comparing field test results and simulation results. In addition, it was performed by dividing the rotary tillage and steering section. Main results are as follows: first, t-values of engine torque were measured to be 0.31 in the rotary tillage and 0.92 in the steering section. Second, t-values of fuel consumption were measured to be 0.51 and 5.41 in the rotary tillage and the steering section, respectively. Finally, t-values of fuel efficiency were measured to be 1.72 and 40 in the rotary tillage and the steering section, respectively. The results show no significant differences with t-values of less than 5% in the rotary tillage. But, it shows significant differences in the steering section. Therefore, simulation for accurate fuel efficiency prediction requires a suitable algorithm or detailed design of the simulation model in the steering section.
The effects of the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow and turbulent diffusion on the collection efficiency of a model ESP composed of the plates with a cavity were studied through numerical computation. The electric field and ion space charge density were calculated by the Poisson equation of the electrical potential and the current continuity equation. The EHD flow field was solved by the continuity and momentum equations of the gas phase including the electrical body force induced by the movement of ions under the electric field. The RNG $k-{\varepsilon}$ model was used to analyze the turbulent flow. The particle concentration distribution was calculated from the convective diffusion equation of the particle phase. As the ion space charge increased, the particulate collection efficiency increased because the electrical potential increased over the entire domain in the ESP. The collection efficiency decreased and then increased, i.e. had a minimum value, as the EHD circulating flow became stronger when the electrical migration velocity of the charged particle was low. However, the collection efficiency decreased with the stronger EHD flow when the electrical migration of the particle was higher relatively. The collection efficiency of the model ESP increased as the turbulent diffusivity of the particle increased when the electrical migration velocity of the particle was low. However, the collection efficiency decreased for increasing the turbulent diffusivity when the electrical migration of the particle was higher relatively.
Fine particle capture is facing a challenge since traditional filtration which relies on the combination of impaction, interception, diffusion has a limited efficiency for fine particle capture particularly in size from 0.1 to $0.5{\mu}m$. This paper reviewed the collection efficiency of above mechanisms, as well as magnetic mechanisms for ferromagnetic particles, and mainly studied the influencing factors of magnetic filtration. Filtration velocity, magnetic field intensity and fiber size were found to be the most important parameters for magnetic filtration.

Test of Caterpillar Challenger 65 tractor which has rubber tracks, and articulated four wheel drive tractor with dual wheels and a mechanical front wheel drive tractor were conducted on an unplowed and plouwed wheat stubble field. The following parameters were analyzed : tractive efficiency (ηv), net tractive coefficient ($\phi$n), slip ($\sigma$) , drawbar pull(Fv), drawbar power (Pv) and forward velocity(v). The maximum net tractive coefficient was established at the tractive efficiency of 0.60 on the unplowed wheat stubble field : for the Challenger 65 tractor 0.855 ; 4WD 0.624 and MFWD 0.534 and on the plowed wheat stubble field with the tractive efficiency of 0.40 for the Challenger 65 tractor 0.82 : 4WD 0.57 and for tractor MFWD 0.48.
This study aims to contribute to efficient paddy field water management by developing an IoT-based automatic paddy inlet that can consider water level changes according to variations in the supplied water quantity through irrigation channels. This IoT-based automatic paddy inlet not only ensures water level changes based on the supply of irrigation water but also secures irrigation efficiency. The effectiveness and efficiency of the developed IoT-based automatic paddy inlet were presented to contribute to efficient paddy field water management. As a result, the IoT-based automatic paddy inlet demonstrated the capability to maintain the optimal water level in the paddy field. Particularly, it exhibited up to 18.4% higher water resource usage efficiency compared to conventional paddy inlet, emphasizing the IoT-based automatic paddy inlet's advantage in terms of water resource usage.
Recently, high-strength concrete used for shortening the construction time of high-rise building construction, Concrete pumping technology is emerging as the core technology of high-rise buildings. In this paper, we have started to study the use of electromagnetic field as a method to increase the efficiency of the lubricating layer between the inside of the pipe and concrete, which has been established as the most important factor determining the pumping performance. The pumping performance improvement effect of concrete strength was verified and basic research was carried out to utilize it as a method to increase the efficiency of pumping in field application. In the related work, the effect of the electromagnetic field was verified by conducting a mock-up performance evaluation (horizontal 300 m) of the pumping force by the concrete strength.
Shielding effects in conductive and magnetic materials were investigated as a function of properties, thickness and diameter. In this work, evaluations on passive conductive and magnetic shield specimens were achieved through experimentation set-up using 50 Hz single and three phase induction field sources. Analysis on material microstructure properties and characteristics of shielding specimens were performed with the use of vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). An induction field at $136{\mu}T$ of single phase system and $50{\mu}T$ of three phase systems were observed to the shield specimens with the thickness ranged of 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. It is observed that shield specimen efficiency becomes inversely proportionate to the increment of induction fields. The decrease was attributed to the surface structure texture which relates to the crystallization and non-crystallization geometrical effects.
