  • Turbo code, a kind of error correction coding technique, has been used in the field of digital mobile communication system. As the number of iterations increases, it can achieves remarkable BER performance over AWGN channel environment. However, if the number of iterations Is increases in the several channel environments, any further iteration results in very little improvement, and requires much delay and computation in proportion to the number of iterations. To solve this problems, it is necessary to device an efficient criterion to stop the iteration process and prevent unnecessary delay and computation. In this paper, it proposes an efficient and simple criterion for stopping the iteration process in turbo decoding. By using variance values of noise derived from mean values of LLR in turbo decoder, the proposed algorithm can largely reduce the computation and average number of iterations without BER performance degradation. As a result of simulations, the computation of the proposed algorithm is reduced by about $66{\sim}80%$ compared to conventional algorithm. The average number of iterations is reduced by about $13.99%{\sim}15.74%$ compared to CE algorithm and about $17.88%{\sim}18.59%$ compared to SCR algorithm.

  • An improved fuzzy Kalman filtering speed estimation scheme was proposed by means of measuring stator side voltage and current value based on vector control state equation of induction motor. The designed fuzzy adaptive controller conducted recursive online correction of measurement noise covariance matrix by monitoring the ratio of theory residuals and actual residuals to make it approach real noise level gradually, allowing the filter to perform optimal estimation to improve estimation accuracy of EKF. Meanwhile, co-simulation scheme based on MATLAB and Ansoft was proposed in order to improve simulation accuracy. Field-circuit coupling problems of induction motor under the action of vector control were solved and the parameter optimization accuracy was improved dramatically. The simulation and experimental results show that this algorithm has a strong ability to inhibit the random measurement noise. It is able to estimate motor speed accurately, and has superior static and dynamic characteristics.

  • This paper presents an equalizer reducing CCI(cell-to-cell interference) in MLC NAND flash memory. The CCI is a critical factor which affects occurring data errors in a cell, when surrounding cells are programed. We derived a characteristic equation for CCI considering write procedure of data that is similar with signal equalizing. The model considers the floating gate capacitance coupling effect, the direct field effect, and programming methods of the MLC NAND flash memory. We verify the proposed equalizer comparing with the measured data of 1-block MLC NAND flash memory. As the simulation result, the equalizer shows an error correction ratio about 60% under 20nm NAND process.

  • In this paper, an efficient higher-order shear deformation theory is presented to analyze thermomechanical bending of temperature-dependent functionally graded (FG) plates resting on an elastic foundation. Further simplifying supposition are made to the conventional HSDT so that the number of unknowns is reduced, significantly facilitating engineering analysis. These theory account for hyperbolic distributions of the transverse shear strains and satisfy the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the plate without using shear correction factors. Power law material properties and linear steady-state thermal loads are assumed to be graded along the thickness. Nonlinear thermal conditions are imposed at the upper and lower surface for simply supported FG plates. Equations of motion are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. Analytical solutions for the thermomechanical bending analysis are obtained based on Fourier series that satisfy the boundary conditions (Navier's method). Non-dimensional results are compared for temperature-dependent FG plates and validated with those of other shear deformation theories. Numerical investigation is conducted to show the effect of material composition, plate geometry, and temperature field on the thermomechanical bending characteristics. It can be concluded that the present theory is not only accurate but also simple in predicting the thermomechanical bending responses of temperature-dependent FG plates.

  • In this paper, the effect of the homogenization models on buckling and free vibration is presented for simply supported functionally graded plates (FGM) resting on elastic foundation. The majority of investigations developed in the last decade, explored the Voigt homogenization model to predict the effective proprieties of functionally graded materials at the macroscopic-scale for FGM mechanical behavior. For this reason, various models have been used to derive the effective proprieties of FGMs and simulate thereby their effects on the buckling and free vibration of FGM plates based on comparative studies that may differ in terms of several parameters. The refined plate theory, as used in this paper, is based on dividing the transverse displacement into both bending and shear components. This leads to a reduction in the number of unknowns and governing equations. Furthermore the present formulation utilizes a sinusoidal variation of displacement field across the thickness, and satisfies the stress-free boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the plate without requiring any shear correction factor. Equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Analytical solutions for the buckling and free vibration analysis are obtained for simply supported plates. The obtained results are compared with those predicted by other plate theories. This study shows the sensitivity of the obtained results to different homogenization models and that the results generated may vary considerably from one theory to another. Comprehensive visualization of results is provided. The analysis is relevant to aerospace, nuclear, civil and other structures.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that used a direct method to set an initial value of Broydon-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno(BFGS) method and, accordingly, conducted an experiment in optimal directivity synthesis of adaptive ultrasonic transducer by point source array. To certify the efficiency of this method, quasi-ideal beam with arbitrary beam width, rotating beam, and multi beam, all with the limited side lobe level -30dB, were chosen to check the problem of directivity synthesis that was formed by point source array in the second dimensional sound field. The numerical calculation results showed that the proposed method performed the directivity synthesis faster than the BFGS method did. In addition, the proposed method showed a good error correction for directivity synthesis, and did not demand the choice of initial value. Finally, it is also shown that the proposed method can be used for the adaptive control that was not possible with the direct method alone.

  • The universal nature of humans is formed by the view angle and the visibility range. However, the majority of theories on spatial structure analysis based on the visual perception do neither reflect the view angle nor consider only the flat view angle. Some theories that reflect them is a theory where the part included in the view angle and the part excluded in the view angle have been separated in a dichotomous way, excluding the universal characteristics of humans. This study applied an observing probability to a 3-D visibility analysis theory by conducting a eye-tracking experiment, empirically determining the limits of the field of view, and deriving the observing probability by view angle. In addition, it attempted to identify the probability by manufacturing an application of spacial, visual perception analysis and applying the concept of multiple frustum culling. For the characteristics of observation, the data were measured and collected regarding the walking course for 3 minutes for an optional space, aimed for 33 people as subjects. Subsequently, the data were prepared by analyzing the observation fixation frequency probability.

  • Detailed flow of a shrouded tail rotor in hover is studied by using a compressible inviscid flow solver on unstructured meshes. The numerical method is based on a cell-centered finite-volume discretization and an implicit Gauss-Seidel time integration. Numerical simulation is made for a single blade attached to the center body and guide by the duct by imposing a periodic boundary condition between adjacent rotor blades. The results show that the performance of an isolated rotor without shroud compares well with experiment. In case of a shrouded rotor, correction of the collective pitch angle is made such that the overall performance matches with experiment to account for the uncertainties of the experimental model configuration. Details of the flow field compare well with the experiment confirming the validity of the present method.

  • Numerical analysis of high Mach number flow over a blunt-body poses many difficulties and various numerical schemes have been suggested to overcome the problems. However, the new schemes were used in the limited fields of applications because of the lack of field experience compared to more than 20 years old numerical schemes and the intricacies of modifying the existing code for the special application. In this study, some tips to overcome the numerical difficulties in solving the 3D high-Mach number flows by using Roe's scheme, the most widely used for the past 25 years and adopted in many commercial codes, were examined without a correction of the algorithm or a modification of the CFD code. The well-known carbuncle phenomena of Riemann solvers could be remedied even for an extremely high Mach number by applying the entropy fixing function and a unphysical solution could be overcome by applying a simply modified initial condition regardless of the entropy fixing and grid configuration.
