Before performing an experimental study on the downburst-generated wave, it is necessary to examine the scale effects and corresponding corrections or compensations. Analysis of similarity is conducted to conclude the non-dimensional force ratios that account for the dynamic similarity in the interaction of downburst with wave between the prototype and the scale model, along with the corresponding scale factors. The fractional volume of fluid (VOF) method in association with the impinging jet model is employed to explore the characteristics of the downburst-generated wave numerically, and the validity of the proposed scaling method is verified. The study shows that the location of the maximum radial wind velocity in a downburst-wave field is a little higher than that identified in a downburst over the land, which might be attributed to the presence of the wave which changes the roughness of the underlying surface of the downburst. The impinging airflow would generate a concavity in the free surface of the water around the stagnation point of the downburst, with a diameter of about two times the jet diameter (Djet). The maximum wave height appears at the location of 1.5Djet from the stagnation point. Reynolds number has an insignificant influence on the scale effects, in accordance with the numerical investigation of the 30 scale models with the Reynolds number varying from 3.85 × 104 to 7.30 × 109. The ratio of the inertial force of air to the gravitational force of water, which is denoted by G, is found to be the most significant factor that would affect the interaction of downburst with wave. For the correction or compensation of the scale effects, fitting curves for the measures of the downburst-wave field (e.g., wind profile, significant wave height), along with the corresponding equations, are presented as a function of the parameter G.

In the agricultural machinery field, load analysis is mostly done through field tests. However, field tests are time-consuming and costly. There are also limitations in test conditions due to weather conditions. To overcome these environmental limitations, research on load analysis through simulation in a virtual environment is actively being conducted. This study aimed to select the most appropriate soil particle size for modeling by analyzing the effect of soil particle size on the prediction of draft force of the implement using simulation and soil particle modeling in a virtual environment with the discrete element method (DEM) software. The accuracy was verified by simulating the draft force for the same moving speed by soil particle size. For soil particle modeling, DEM soil modeling was performed by designing soil property measurement procedure. Soil particle correction was performed with a virtual vane shear test. Average DEM simulation results showed an error of 27.39% (19.43~40.66%) compared to actual measured data. The possibility of improvement was confirmed through additional research. Results of this study provide useful information for selecting soil particle size in soil modeling using DEM from the perspective of agricultural machinery research.

Microprocessors, which need correct arithmetic operations, have been the subject of in-depth research in relation to soft errors. Of the existing microprocessor devices, the memory cell is the most vulnerable to soft errors. Moreover, when soft errors emerge in a memory cell, the processes and operations are greatly affected because the memory cell contains important information and instructions about the entire process or operation. Users do not realize that if soft errors go undetected, arithmetic operations and processes will have unexpected outcomes. In the field of architectural design, the tool that is commonly used to detect and correct soft errors is the error check and correction code. The Itanium, IBM PowerPC G5 microprocessors contain Hamming and Rasio codes in their level-2 cache. This research, however, focuses on huge server devices and does not consider power consumption. As the operating and threshold voltage is currently shrinking with the emergence of high-density and low-power embedded microprocessors, there is an urgent need to develop ECC (error check correction) circuits. In this study, the in-output data of the level-2 cache were analyzed using SimpleScalar-ARM, and a 32-bit H-matrix for the level-2 cache of an embedded microprocessor is proposed. From the point of view of power consumption, the proposed H-matrix can be implemented using a schematic editor of Cadence. Therefore, it is comparable to the modified Hamming code, which uses H-spice. The MiBench program and TSMC 0.18 um were used in this study for verification purposes.

A method to quickly estimate broadband moment magnitudes (Mwp) to warn regional and teleseismic tsunamigenic earthquakes is tested for application of the method to the different seismic observation environment. In this study, the Mwp is calculated by integrating far-field P-wave or pP-wave of vertical component of displacement seismograms in time domain from earthquakes, having magnitude greater than 5.0 and occurred in and around the Korean peninsula from 2000 to 2006. We carefully set up the size of the time window for the computations to exclude S wave phases and other phases following after the P wave phase. The P wave velocities and the densities from the averaged Korean crustal model are used in the computations. Instrumental correction was performed to remove dependency on the seismograph. The Mwp after the instrumental correction is about 0.1 greater than the Mwp before the correction. The comparison of our results to the those of foreign agencies such as JMA and Havard CMT catalogues shows a higher degree of similarity. Thus our results provide an effective tool to estimate the earthquake size, as well as to issue the necessary information to a tsunami warning system when the effective earthquake occurs around the peninsula.
The purpose of this research is to propose the measurement of improving DEM by using the water surface range of SAR image analysis for river corridors and to suggest the construction of satellite-based 3D river spatial information of inaccessible regions such as North Korea. For this research, it has been progressed from the accessible area, watershed of Namgang river, the branch of Nakdonggang river. The satellite image was collected from SAR satellite image data for a year in 2021 which was provided by ESA from Sentinel-1A/B data and extracted from the seasonal water surface area. Ground gauge water level was collected from hourly intervals data by WAMIS. The DEM was improved by analysis of the river altitude of water surface area change by the combination of the ground water level of minimum to maximum water surface area data extracted from SAR image analysis. After the improvement of DEM, the altitude of the river varied that it is defined to comprise more natural form of river DEM than the existing DEM. The correction validation of improvement DEM was necessary in field survey elevation data; however, the correction validation was not progressed due to the absence of the data. Although, the purpose of this research is to provide the improvement of DEM by using the analyzed water surface by existing DEM data and SAR image analysis. After the progression of additional correction validation research, we would plan to examine the application in other places and to progress the additional methodological research to apply in inaccessible and unmeasured area including the North Korea.

For the $ViewRay^{(R)}$ system (ViewRay Inc., Cleveland, OH, USA) which is representative of magnetic resonance (MR) guided radiotherapy machine, it is important to evaluate effectiveness of AAPM's TG-51 protocol and the effect of the magnetic field on absolute dosimetry. In order to measure the absolute dose, MR-compatible chamber and water phantom system manufactured in this study were used. The materials of the water phantom system were plastic of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and non-ferrous materials. Due to the inherent feature of the $ViewRay^{(R)}$, all Co-60 sources are not located at gantry angle of $0^{\circ}$ while being located at gantry angle of $90^{\circ}$. For this reason, absolute dosimetry was performed based on the measurements in solid water phantom (SWP) and water which determine the SWP to water correction factor. For evaluation of output constancy with gantry angle, measurements were made with ionization chamber inserted in cylindrical water-equivalent phantom. For measured doses in water, the values of dose deviation according to a reference dose of 200 cGy for Head 1, Head 2 and Head 3 were -0.27%, -0.45% and -0.22%, respectively. For measured doses in SWP, the values of dose deviation according to a reference dose of 200 cGy for Head 1, Head 2 and Head 3 were -1.91%, -2.07% and -1.84%, respectively. All values of dose measured in SWP tended to be less than those measured in water by -1.63%. With the reference gantry angles of $0^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$, the maximum values of deviation for Head 1, Head 2 and Head 3 were 0.48%, 1.06% and 0.40%, respectively. The measurement agreement is within the range of results obtainable for conventional treatment machines. The low strength of the magnetic field does not affect dose measurements. Using the SWP to water correction factor, absolute doses for $ViewRay^{(R)}$ system can be measured.
The digital data were obtained using Kennedy 9000 magnetic tape deck which was connected to the SMS960 side scan sonar during the field operations. The data of three consecutive survey tracks near Seongsan-po, Cheju were used for the development of this study. The softwares were mainly written in Fortran-77 using VAX 11/780 MINI-COMPUTER (CPU Memory; 4MB). The established mapping system consists of the pretreatment and the digital processing of seafloor image data. The pretreatment was necessary because the raw digital data format of the field magnetic tapes was not compatible to the VAX system. Therefore the raw data were read by the personal computer using the Assembler language and the data format was converted to IBM compatible, and next data were communicated to the VAX system. The digital processing includes geometrical correction for slant range, statistical analysis and cartography of the seafloor image. The sound speed in the water column was assumed 1,500 m/sec for the slant range correction and the moving average method was used for the signal trace smoothing. Histograms and cumulative curves were established for the statistical analysis, that was purposed to classify the backscattering strength from the sea-bottom. The seafloor image was displayed on the color screen of the TEKTRONIX 4113B terminal. According to the brief interpretation of the result image map, rocky and sedimentary bottoms were very well discriminated. Also it was shown that the backscattered acoustic pressurecorrelateswith the grain size and sorting of surface sediments.
The study adopted extended Kalman filter technique in an effort to predict Z-R relationship parameter as a stable value in real-time. Toward this end, a parameter estimation model was established based on extended Kalman filter in consideration of non-linearity of Z-R relationship. A state-space model was established based on a study that was conducted by Adamowski and Muir (1989). Two parameters of Z-R relationship were set as state variables of the state-space model. As a result, a stable model where a divergence of Kalman gain and state variables are not generated was established. It is noteworthy that overestimated or underestimated parameters based on a conventional method were filtered and removed. As application of inappropriate parameters might cause physically unrealistic rain rate estimation, it can be more effective in terms of quantitative precipitation estimation. As a result of estimation on radar rainfall based on parameters predicted with the extended Kalman filter, the mean field bias correction factor turned out to be around 1.0 indicating that there was a minor difference from the gauge rain rate without the mean field bias correction. In addition, it turned out that it was possible to conduct more accurate estimation on radar rainfall compared to the conventional method.
The Moving Search Radar System (MSRS) monitors sea areas by moving along the coast. Since the radar is initially aligned to the front of the vehicle, it is important to know the changes in the heading azimuth of the vehicle to quickly acquire the target azimuth from the radar after the MSRS has moved. The heading azimuth can be obtained using the gyro compass, the GPS compass or the electronic compass. The electronic compass is suitable for MSRS requiring fast maneuverability due to its small volume, short stabilization time and low price. However, using a geomagnetic sensor may result in an error due to the surrounding magnetic field. Errors can make early automatic tracking of the satellites difficult and can reduce the radar detection accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to automatically compensate for the error reflecting the correction value on the radar obtained by comparing the reference azimuth calculated by solving the geodesic inverse problem using two coordinates between the radar and the geostationary satellite with the actually-directed azimuth angle of the satellite antenna. The feasibility and convenience of the proposed method were verified by applying it to the MSRS in the field.
