  • Purpose : Measurement of transmission dose is useful for in vivo dosimetry. In this study, the algorithm for estimating the transmission dose for open radiation fields was modified for application to partially blocked radiation fields. Materials and Methods : The beam data was measured with a flat solid phantom with various blocked fields. A new correction algorithm for partially blocked radiation field was developed from the measured data. This algorithm was tested in some settings simulating clinical treatment with an irregular field shape. Results : The correction algorithm for the beam block could accurately reflect the effect of the beam block, with an error within ${\pm}1.0\%$, with both square fields and irregularly shaped fields. Conclusion : This algorithm can accurately estimate the transmission dose in most radiation treatment settings, including irregularly shaped field.

  • The stoichiometric methan/air premixed turbulent flames at the axisymmetric Bunsen burner situation are numerically investigated. To account for the chemistry-turbulence interaction in the turbulent premixed flames, the steady laminar flamelet library method has been adopted. The flame front is tracked by using the Level-Set Approach. Turbulence is represented by the ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ modeling with a Pope's correction. The detailed comparison between prediction and measurement has made for the flame field in terms of velocity, turbulent kinetic energy, and normarlized temperature.

  • MI LV1B images, geometric corrected data of COMS MI, has no time information per each line, but field of weather prediction using the MI LV1B images needs time information on it. This paper explains two calculation methods for receiving time on lines of MI LV1B images and analyzes difference between two calculation methods using simulated data.

  • To design three-mirror telescope system (F/8, 120 inch in focal length) for visible and infra-red band imaging, methods for power configuring and correction of the third order aberrations were studied. In the design of the telescope system, a three-mirror system corrected for spherical aberration, coma, and astigmatism was used for infra-red imaging, and the aberrations were corrected by using conic surfaces. For visible imaging, a singlet corrector lens was appended at the front of the focal plane to correct filed curvature. The telescope system has diffraction limited performance for 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in wavelength within 2.4$^{\circ}$ of field-of-view. In the visible band imaging, the rms spot size of the telescope system is less than 25 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ within 3$^{\circ}$ of field-of-view for monochromatic light, and the telescope system satisfies flat field condition for CCD application.

  • In the present investigation, a numerical model developed for the prediction of the wind flow over complex terrain is validated by comparing with the field experiments. For the solution of the Reynolds - Averaged Clavier- stokes equations which are the governing equations of the microscale atmospheric flow, the model is constructed based on the finite-volume formulation and the SIMPLEC pressure-correction algorithm for the hydrodynamic computation. The boundary- fitted coordinate system is employed for the detailed depiction of topography. The boundary conditions and the modified turbulence constants suitable for an atmospheric boundary- layer are applied together with the k- s turbulence model. The full- scale experiments of Cooper's Ridge, Kettles Hill and Askervein Hill are chosen as the validation cases . Comparisons of the mean flow field between the field measurements and the predicted results show good agreement. In the simulation of the wind flow over Askervein Hill , the numerical model predicts the three dimensional flow separation in the downslope of the hill including the blockage effect due to neighboring hills . Such a flow behavior has not been simulated by the theoretical predictions. Therefore, the present model may offer the most accurate prediction of flow behavior in the leeside of the hill among the existing theoretical and numerical predictions.

  • A compact current model applicable to both single-gate (SG) and double-gate (DG) tunneling field-effect transistors (TFETs) is presented. The model is based on Kane's band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) model. In this model, the well-known and previously-reported quasi-2-D solution of Poisson's equation is used for the surface potential and length of the tunneling path in the tunneling region. An analytical tunneling current expression is derived from expressions of derivatives of local electric field and surface potential with respect to tunneling direction. The previously reported correction factor with three fitting parameters, compensating for superlinear onset and saturation current with drain voltage, is used. Simulation results of the proposed TFET model are compared with those from a technology computer-aided-design (TCAD) simulator, and good agreement in all operational bias is demonstrated. The proposed SG/DG-TFET model is developed with Verilog-A for circuit simulation. A TFET inverter is simulated with the Verilog-A SG/DG-TFET model in the circuit simulator; the model exhibits typical inverter characteristics, thereby confirming its effectiveness.

  • This paper applies the Orbital Geometry-based Bias Estimation Algorithm to the magnetometer measurement data of KOMPSAT-1 and 2 and analyzes the induced magnetic field bias caused by the solar panels and electronics boxes in spacecraft bus. This paper reveals that the estimation and correction of the induced magnetic field bias copes with the aging process of magnetometer and makes it possible to carry on the satellite mission by extending its lifetime.

  • An array based, outward monitoring, ultrasonic guided wave based SHM technique using a single transmitter and multiple receivers (STMR), with a small footprint is discussed here. The previous implementation of such SHM arrays used a phase-reconstruction algorithm (that is similar to the beam-steering algorithm) for the imaging of reflectors. These algorithms were found to have a limitation during the imaging of defects/reflectors that are present in the "near-field" of the array. Here, the "near-field" is defined to be approximately 3-4 times the diameter of the compact array. This limitation is caused by approximations in the beam-steering reconstruction algorithm. In this paper, a migration-based reconstruction algorithm, with dispersion correction in the frequency domain, is discussed. Simulation and experimental studies are used to demonstrate that this algorithm improves the reconstruction in the "near-field" without decreasing the ability to reconstruct defects in the "far-field" in both isotropic and anisotropic plates.

  • The effect of potential future climate change on the storage rate of paddy field during storm periods (June - September) was assessed using the daily paddy water balance model. The CCCma CGCM2 data by SRES (special report on emissions scenarios) A2 and B2 scenarios of the IPCC (intergovernmental panel on climate change) was used to assess the future potential climate change. The future weather data for the year 2020s, 2050s and 2080s was downscaled by Change Factor method through bias-correction using 30 years weather data. The future (2020s, 2050s and 2080s) rainfall, storage and irrigation of paddy field, runoff in paddy levee and ponding depth were analyzed for the A2 and B2 climate change scenarios based on a base year (2005). The future irrigation change of paddy field was projected to increase by decrease in rainfall. So, runoff change in paddy levee was decrease slightly, future storage change of paddy was projected to increase.
