Laser Ablation of a ZnO:P2O5 Target under the Presence of a Transverse Magnetic Field

  • From time-resolved optical emission spectra, we have investigated the effects of a transverse magnetic field on the expansion of a plasma plume produced by laser ablation of a ZnO:$P_2O_5$ ceramic target in oxygen active atmosphere. The emission spectra of $Zn^{+*}$, $P^{+*}$, and $Zn^*$ neutrals in the presence of magnetic field turn out to be considerably different from those without magnetic field. The characteristics of the deposited films grown on amorphous fused silica substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) are examined by analyzing their photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-visible spectra.

Spectroscopic Properties and Ligand Field Analysis of cis-Dinitrato(1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)chromium(III) Nitrate

  • The luminescence and photoexcitation spectra of cis-[Cr(cyclam)(NO3)2]NO3·½ H2O (cyclam=1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) taken at 77 K are reported. The infrared and visible spectra at room-temperature are also measured. The vibrational intervals of the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned. With observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding property of nitrate group in the chromium(Ⅲ) complex. According to the results, it is found that nitrate ligand has weak σ- and π-donor properties toward chromium(Ⅲ).

지상 분광반사자료를 훈련샘플로 이용한 감독분류의 정확도 평가: 세종시 금남면을 사례로 (Accuracy Assessment of Supervised Classification using Training Samples Acquired by a Field Spectroradiometer: A Case Study for Kumnam-myun, Sejong City)

  • 많은 연구들에서 영상자료와 분류 알고리즘 측면에서 분류정확도를 비교하였지만, 참조자료 또는 분석자에 의존하는 훈련샘플에 의한 분류정확도 비교와 관련된 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 감독분류에 있어 훈련샘플로써 지상 분광반사자료의 유용성을 평가하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 초분광영상과 다중분광영상을 대상으로 영상 수집 훈련샘플과 지상 분광반사자료를 사용하여 분류 정확도를 비교하였다. 그 결과 영상 수집 훈련샘플 사용 시 초분 광영상과 다중분광영상에서 공통적으로 약 90%의 분류정확도를 얻을 수 있었다. 그러나 지상 분광반사자료를 훈련 샘플로 사용하면 초분광영상의 경우 약 10%p, 다중분광영상의 경우 약 20%p의 분류정확도 감소가 발생하였다. 특히 다중분광영상에서 분광반사특성이 유사하게 나타나는 클래스들의 경우 분류정확도가 초분광영상에 비해 매우 낮게 나타났다. 따라서 지상 분광반사자료는 다중분광영상에 적용하는 데에는 한계가 있지만, 초분광영상을 이용한 토지피복분류에 있어 유용한 훈련샘플이 될 수 있다.

Structure, Modified Scaled Quantum Mechanical Force Field and A Priori Prediction of Vibrational Spectra and Their Assignment and Exponential Scaling of Frequencies of Triphenylene

  • The structure, force field and vibrational spectra of triphenylene are studied by $B3LYP/6-31G^*$(5d) level of theory. The results are compared to those of the related system, phenanthrene. The scale factors in nonredundant local coordinates obtained after fitting the DFT frequencies to the experimental numbers of phenanthrene-$d_0 and -d_{10}$ are transferred to predict the spectra and assignment of triphenylene for in-plane modes. The frequencies based on scaling methodology due to Lee et al. are also obtained. These frequencies are compared with the predicted numbers based on scale factors from phenanthrene. Probable assignment for out-of-plane modes is proposed based on simple scaling of Scott and Radom (scale factor 0.9614) as well as by scaling methodology by Lee et al.

  • The emission and excitation spectra of $cis-[Cr(cyclam)(NCS)_2]NCS$ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) taken at 77 K are reported. The infrared and visible spectra at room temperature are also measured. The vibrational intervals due to the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten pure electronic origins due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned by analyzing the absorption and excitation spectra. Using the observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding properties of the coordinated ligands in the title chromium(Ⅲ) complex. According to the results, it is found that nitrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand have a strong σ-donor character, while the NCS ligand has medium σ- and π-donor properties toward chromium(Ⅲ) ion.

Calibrating high-z QSO masses using near-IR and optical spectra

  • Using the newly commissioned Fiber-Multi-Object-Spectrograph at the Subaru telescope, we obtained near-IR spectra of a sample of 19 AGNs at 0.6 < z < 2.6, selected from the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey (NDWFS) Bootes field, in order to calibrate high-z black hole mass (MBH) estimators. MBHs are generally determined through the kinematics of ionized gas clouds around the black hole assuming virial equilibrium. The velocity profiles of $H{\beta}/H{\alpha}$, MgII and CIV are used to infer the gas kinematics of low-z, mid-z, and high-z quasars, respectively. However, the MBH based on MgII and CIV is not very well calibrated. We compare the $H{\alpha}$ - based MBH estimates from the new FMOS near-IR spectra, with the MgII-based MBH estimates from our existing optical spectra, and investigate the systematic differences.

Electronic Spectroscopy and Ligand Field Analysis of mer-[Cr(progly)(2,2-tri)]$CIO_4$

  • The 77 K emission and excitation spectra, and 298 K infrared and absorption spectra of [Cr(progly)(2,2-tri)]CIO$_4$[progly=prolylglycinate,2,2-tri=N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine] have been measured. The vibrational intervals of the electronic ground state are extracted from emission and infrared spectra. The twelve electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions were assigned. Using the observed electronic transitions, a ligand field analysis was performed to determine the metaligand bonding properties for the coordinated atoms. It is found that the carboxylate oxygen of the progly is a strong $\sigma$-and $\pi$-donor while the peptide nitrogen has weak $\pi$-donor property toward chromium(III) ion.

  • The emission and excitation spectra of [Cr(NH3)5(imH)](ClO4)3·H2O (imH=imidazole) taken at 77 K are reported. The 298 K visible and far-infrared spectra are also measured. The vibrational intervals of the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned. Using the observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding properties of coordinated imidazole in the title chromium(Ⅲ) complex. It is confirmed that nitrogen atom of the imidazole ligand has a medium it-acceptor property toward chromium(Ⅲ) ion. The zero-phonon line in the excitation spectrum splits into two components by 181 cm-1, and the large 2Eg splitting can be reproduced by the ligand field theory.

EVOLUTION OF THE PRIMORDIAL MAGNETIC FIELD I. INITIAL MORPHOLOGY AND STRENGTH

  • The morphology and strength of the primordial magnetic field which is generated spontaneously in the early universe are studied for three models: (1) inflation (2) primordial magnetized bubble and (3) primordial turbulence models, We calculate the power spectra of magnetic field that are scale-free and proportional to $k^{1.5},k^{3{\sim}4}$ and $k^{2/3}$, respectively. The configurations of magnetic field having these power spectra are visualized. To constrain the present strength of the primordial magnetic field we calculate the anisotropy of the microwave background radiation in Bianchi type I universe with globally homogeneous magnetic field. From the COBE limit of the quadrupole moment of $({\delta}T/T)_{l=2}$ the present strength of horizen-scale magnetic fields $B_p$ is constrained to be less than $9{\times}10^{-8}G$.
