  • The present paper introduces a new fixed interface component mode synthesizing technique based on the notion of higher-order field-consistency. The present technique employs higher-order residual constraint modes in addition to lower fixed interface normal modes while consistency in matching field variables at the substructure interface is maintained. The present field-consistency approach does not increase the size of the synthesized system even if higher-order residual constraint modes are included. A new field-consistent higher-order synthesis technique is first presented and a numerical example is given to verify the present method.

  • The design of robust plate and shell elements has been a very challenging area for several decades. The main difficulty has been the shear locking phenomenon in plate elements and the shear and membrane locking phenomena together in the shell elements. Among the various artifices or devices which are used to develop elements free of these problems is the field-consistency approach. In this paper this approach is reviewed, It turns out that not only Mindlin type elements but also elements based on higher-order theories could be developed using the technique.

  • The applicability of the field-consistency paradigm, which was originally employed for analysis of locking due to constrained energy having the second power of a strain, is extended to the constrained energy having a quadratic form of strain. For the extension, nearly-incompressible plane strain problem is considered by introducing the concept of reduced minimization. The field-consistent analysis of the plane strain problem leads to a clear and systematic understanding on the relation amongst constraints imposed on element, spurious constraint -free optimal points, and integration order used.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the consistency and balance of learning objectives of units and instructional units according to grades and educational domains. Educational domains were cognitive(scientific knowledge), scientific inquiry(inquiry process skills), affective(scientific attitude), and science-technology-society(STS). Learning objectives of life field of the 7th elementary science curricular teaching guidebooks were analysed. Scientific inquiry process skill objectives(43.5%) were most dominant in units, but cognitive objectives(53.9%) were most dominant in instructional units. STS objectives were most recessive in both units and instructional units. Especially, objectives of units and instructional units were shown no consistency by grade. The results of this study suggested that the textbooks and teaching guidebooks should be developed consistently by considering learning activities and contents on the basis of background and properties of science curriculum.

  • Light field (LF) superpixel segmentation aims to group the similar pixels not only in the single image but also in the other views to improve the computational efficiency of further applications like object detection and pattern recognition. Among the state-of-the-art methods, there is an approach to segment the LF images while enforcing the view consistency. However, it leaves too much noise and inaccuracy in the shape of superpixels. In this paper, we modify the process of the clustering step. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms the existing method in terms of view-consistency.

  • The 3-noded metric Timoshenko beam element with an offset of the internal node from the element centre is used here to demonstrate the best-fit paradigm using function space formulation under locking and mesh distortion. The best-fit paradigm follows from the projection theorem describing finite element analysis which shows that the stresses computed by the displacement finite element procedure are the best approximation of the true stresses at an element level as well as global level. In this paper, closed form best-fit solutions are arrived for the 3-noded Timoshenko beam element through function space formulation by combining field consistency requirements and distortion effects for the element modelled in metric Cartesian coordinates. It is demonstrated through projection theorems how lock-free best-fit solutions are arrived even under mesh distortion by using a consistent definition for the shear strain field. It is shown how the field consistency enforced finite element solution differ from the best-fit solution by an extraneous response resulting from an additional spurious force vector. However, it can be observed that when the extraneous forces vanish fortuitously, the field consistent solution coincides with the best-fit strain solution.

  • For a stationary field $\{X_{\b{j}},\b{j}{\;}\in{\;}{\mathbb{Z}}^d_{+}\}$ of associated random variables with distribution function $F(x)\;=\;P(X_{\b{1}}\;{\leq}\;x)$ we study strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the empirical distribution function, which is proposed as an estimator for F(x). We also consider strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the empirical survival function by applying these results.

  • Nonlinear thermoelastic static response characteristics of laminated composite conical panels are studied employing finite element approach based on first-order shear deformation theory and field consistency principle. The nonlinear governing equations, considering moderately large deformation, are solved using Newton-Raphson iterative technique coupled with the adaptive displacement control method to efficiently trace the equilibrium path. The validation of the formulation for mechanical and thermal loading cases is carried out. The present results are found to be in good agreement with those available in the literature. The adaptive displacement control method is found to be capable of handling problems with multiple snapping responses. Detailed parametric study is carried out to highlight the influence of semicone angle, boundary conditions, radius-to-thickness ratio and lamination scheme on the nonlinear thremoelastic response of laminated cylindrical and conical panels.

  • Fourteen Special high schools for developing talents in Science, Foreign Languages, and Arts in Seoul Metropolitan city were analyzed in terms of their educational objectives, Students screening system, curriculum, teaching-learning methods, teachers, and consistency with higher education. Special high schools in talent area were more or less similar to each other in all the above aspects. However, special high schools in different talent areas were quite different in student screening, teaching-learning methods, teachers, and consistency with higher education. Public schools were more affluent than the private ones. Special high schools in Science, arts and Sports were providing individualized, activity oriented, process-oriented teaching-learning methods, while the Foreign languages high schools excercised teacher-centered, grammar oriented, lecture-focused teaching methods more. Special high schools in arts and sports could have consistency with higher education because the university focuses on talents in the specified field rather than academic scores. In conclusion, the schools have a great deal of rooms to improve in teaching-learning methods with which students can maximize their potential development. However, the special high schools were equipped with better learning environments than regular high schools in many aspects.

  • The cooperation with other work types and designing procedure in plant industry and engineering showed clear differences from general construction industries. Current problems are that design's consistency is reduced because of the false system of interface and it ultimately causes frequency changes of design and delayed submission of final book. To solve the problems, the improvements of designing procedure were studied by focusing on the field of architectural designing and the range was limited from power plant construction industry to engineering designing field. If combining GA with the field of architectural designing and receiving data previously, it's possible to conduct expectable designing on small changes in the future, so it's expected to improve greatly cooperation with interface among the work types of power plant engineering received previously from the aspect of consistency. For the application of designing tool, a checklist, interim check will be conducted if progressed by list's division in the designing procedure, not book's completing period. In the interface among the designing work types, direct confirmation and revision must be conducted. In case of 3D modeling, the reflection of input data must be conducted from the basic designing so as to solve interferences intensively.
