A repeated $4{\times}4$ Latin square design was conducted with eight ileal cannulated castrates to examine the effect of source of starch and fiber on nutrient balance and energy metabolism. Pigs were fed on one of the four experimental diets: Control diet (C) mainly based on cooked rice; and diets P, S and W with the inclusion of either raw potato starch, sugar beet pulp or wheat bran supplementation, respectively. With the exception of an increased (p<0.05) energy loss from methane production with diet S observed, no significant differences (p>0.05) in the ratio of metabolizable energy (ME)/digestible energy, the utilization of ME for fat deposition and for protein deposition, energy loss as hydrogen and urinary energy were found between diets. The efficiency of utilization of ME for maintenance was lower (p<0.05) with diets P and S than with diet C. The inclusion of fiber sources (sugar beet pulp or wheat bran) or potato starch reduced the maintenance energy requirement. The fecal energy excretion was increased (p<0.05) with either sugar beet pulp or wheat bran supplementation, while it was unaffected (p>0.05) by addition of potato starch. In comparison with diets C and P, a lowered ileal or fecal digestibility of energy with diets S and W was observed (p<0.05). Feeding sugar beet pulp caused increased (p<0.05) daily production of methane and carbon dioxide and consequently increased energy losses from methane and carbon dioxide production, while it did not influence the daily hydrogen production (p>0.05). An increased (p<0.05) proportion of NSP excreted in feces was seen by the supplementation of wheat bran. Higher NSP intake caused an increased daily amount of NSP in the ileum, but the ileal NSP proportion as a percentage of NSP intake was unaffected by diets. Feeding potato starch resulted in increased daily amount of starch measured in the ileum and the proportion of ileal starch as a percentage of starch intake, while no significant influence on fecal starch was found. Higher (p<0.05) daily amount of fecal starch and the proportion of fecal starch as a percentage of starch intake were found with fiber sources supplementation compared with diets C and P. By increasing the dietary NSP content the fecal amount of starch increased (p<0.01).

Recently, the study is progressing actively about manufacture skill of concrete for promoted recycled aggregate and concrete made into recycled aggregate in the construction production field. But, application and study about recycled fine aggregate insufficient compared to recycled coarse aggregate. So, in this study, it presents basic data for development of environmental load reduction fiber reinforcement recycled fine aggregate concrete by comparison and investigation about engineering properties and shrinkage cracking of fiber reinforcement recycled find aggregate concrete for increasing shrinkage cracking reduction and long term stability of environmental load reduction concrete used recycled fine aggregate. In the result of the study, compared to natural fine aggregate, a crack-extent increased by applying recycled fine aggregate, moreover, as a water cement ratio increased, the crack size increased, as well. In addition, it's shown that the specimen mixed with PVA and Nylon, among all kinds of fibers, showed the smallest crack size, so it's verified that the mix of fiber had an effect on decreasing crack-extent.

In this paper, we took the basic experiment in order to explore the characteristics of optical CT(optical current transformer) for measuring high current in a superhigh voltage condition using faraday effect and wrote that. We used the 1,310[nm] Laser Diode for the source of light and PIN-Photodiode for receiver. The transmission line of light was composed of the single-mode fiber of 30[m] which could maintain the state of polarization in the optical fiber. The range of current was from 400[A] to 1300[A]. In addition, the temperature ranged from $20[^{\circ}C}]\;to\;50[^{\circ}C]$. In a same experiment condition, a power magnitude increases in proportion as input current is increasing and temperature become low. The maximum ratio of error in temperature of $50[^{\circ}C]$ appears 0.15[%] and the 0.16[%], 1.24[%] and 0.07[%] is ratio of error in respectively $40[^{\circ}C],\;30[^{\circ}C],\;and\;20[^{\circ}C]$.

This study evaluates the mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced porous concrete for pavement according to content of slag aggregate and fly ash to elicit the presentation of data and the way to enhance its function for the practical field application of porous concrete as a material of pavement. As a result, void ratio and permeability coefficient of porous concrete for pavement increased a little as mixing rate of slag aggregates increased. Void ratio and permeability coefficient increased a lot as mixing rate of fly ash decreased. As fly ash was mixed, national regulation of permeable concrete for pavement(8% and 0.1 cm/sec) was met. Compressive strength and flexural strength decreased as mixing rate of slag aggregates increased, but they increased a lot as mixing rate of fly ash increased. Even when slag aggregates were mixed 50% with 5% fly ash mixed, national regulation of pavement concrete(18MPa and 4.5MPa) was met. In addition, compared to non-mixture, flexural strength increased about 22.8% when 0.75vol.% of steel fiber was added. Regarding sliding resistance, BPN increased as mixing rate of slag aggregates increased. But BPN decreased as fly ash was mixed. Compared to crushed stone aggregates, abrasion resistance and fleers-thaw resistance decreased as mixing rate of slag aggregates increased. When fly ash was mixed, abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw resistance improved remarkably. Compared to non-mixture, 10% mixture of fly ash improved abrasion resistance and freeze-thaw resistance about 5.6% and 14.3 respectively.

Finding alternative feeds, such as sesame hulls and Prosopis juliflora species can attenuate difficulties of feed shortage and reduce the cost of animal feed in arid and semi-arid countries. Thirty-two Black male kids with similar initial weights (BW = $16.7{\pm}0.80\;kg$) and $120{\pm}5\;d$ of age, were used to evaluate the effect of replacing barley grains and soybean meal with Prosopis juliflora pods (PJP) and sesame hulls (SH) on growth performance, digestibility and carcass and meat characteristics. Kids were equally divided into four dietary treatment groups for an 84-d fattening period. Treatment diets had similar crude protein (CP) and metabolizable energy (ME). The treatment groups were: (T1) no PJP nor SH, (T2) 10% PJP and 20% SH, (T3) 15% PJP and 15% SH, and (T4) 20% PJP and 10% SH. A tendency was detected (p<0.08) for dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), organic matter (OM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) intakes that were greater for T2 than T3 and T4 while T1 was not different from all other treatment groups. Ether extract (EE) intake was the greatest (p<0.05) for T2 and the lowest for T1. Acid detergent fiber (ADF) intake was greater (p<0.05) for T2 than T1 while T3 and T4 were intermediate. Final live weight, average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were comparable among different treatment groups. Digestibility of DM, OM, CP, NDF and ADF were similar among all treatment groups, however, EE digestibility was the lowest (p<0.05) for T1 when compared to other treatments. In addition, nitrogen intake, nitrogen in urine and retained and retention percentages were similar among all treatment groups. However, N loss in feces was higher (p<0.05) for T2 than T3 and T4 while T1 was intermediate. No differences were observed among treatment groups with respect to fasting live weight, hot and cold carcass weights, dressing-out percentages, mesenteric fat, visceral organs, carcass cuts percentages and carcass linear dimensions. No differences were also observed for dissected loin, leg, rack and shoulder tissues except in the total bone % for loin cuts and in the meat to bone ratio for rack cuts. T3 has the greatest total bone % and the lowest meat to bone ratio when compared to all other treatment groups. No differences were observed between treatment groups in all quality characteristics of the longissimus muscle. The present study demonstrates the potential of using PJP and SH for growing kids without adverse effects on growth performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality.

Wet-spun silk fibers have attracted the attention of many researchers because of 1) the unique properties of silk as a biomaterial, including good biocompatibility and cyto-compatability and 2) the various methods available to control the structure and properties of the fiber. Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) have typically been used as a reinforcing material for natural and synthetic polymers. In this study, CNF-embedded silk fibroin (SF) nanocomposite fibers were prepared for the first time. The effects of CNF content on the rheology of the dope solution and the characteristics of wet-spun CNF/SF composite fibers were also examined. A 5% SF formic acid solution that contained no CNFs showed nearly Newtonian fluid behavior, with slight shear thinning. However, after the addition of 1% CNFs, the viscosity of the dope solution increased significantly, and apparent shear thinning was observed. The maximum draw ratio of the CNF/SF composite fibers decreased as the CNF content increased. Interestingly, the crystallinity index for the silk in the CNF/SF fibers was sequentially reduced as the CNF content was increased. This phenomenon may be due to the fact that the CNFs prevent ${\beta}$-sheet crystallization of the SF by elimination of formic acid from the dope solution during the coagulation process. The CNF/SF composite fibers displayed a relatively smooth surface with stripes, at low magnification (${\times}500$). However, a rugged nanoscale surface was observed at high magnification (${\times}10,000$), and the surface roughness increased with the CNF content.

This paper presents the analytical results for the prediction of elastical local buckling stress of fiber reinforced plastic (orthotropic) structural shapes manufactured from pultrusion process. In the derivation, existing Bleich's approach which was originally derived for the isotropic structural shapes was extended and non-dimensionalized parameters which can simplify the numerical calculations were adopted. Analytical results were compared with reported closed-form solutions and experimental results. It is graphically shown that the results can be used effectively to predict the local buckling stress of pultruded fiber reinforced plastic structural shapes. Numerical results were presented graphically to estimate the local buckling stress of various cross-sectional dimensions and lengths of columns. In addition, limits of width to thickness ratio of flange and web of pultruded structural shapes were suggested in which material failure or overall buckling occurs prior to local buckling.

MMA(methyl methacrylate)/IPMI(N-isopropyl maleimide) copolymers are one of the well known heat resistant materials for POF(plastic optical fiber). However, because of the large difference in the reactivity ratio between MMA and IPMI$(r_1/r_2=1.72:0.17)$, the compositional drift occurs during the polymerization process which causes the deterioration of the physical properties of these copolymers. In this paper, we report that the compositional drift of the copolymer could be reduced by the addition of styrene (St) which increased the reactivity of IPMI in the MMA/IPMI copolymerization system and conversion was also increased by 1.5 or 2 times. The MMA/IPMI/St terpolymer had higher refractive index than the MMA/IPMI copolymer which depended on the contents of sytrene.
This study was conducted to investigate the anthropometric data, nutrient intakes and serum profiles in premenopausal and postmenopausal women living in Gyeonggi-do Province, Republic of Korea. The subjects were 49 premenopausal women and 63 postmenopausal women who are not taking any hormone or cardiovascular drugs. Anthropometric measurements were taken by a trained practitioner and the data for dietary intakes were obtained by a 24-hour recall method. Serum samples were collected and analyzed for the total cholesterol, triglyceride (TG) and lipoprotein fractions. The mean age of the premenopausal women was $45.17{\pm}3.28$ years and that of the postmenopausal women was 2$62.5{\pm}4.14$ years. The height and weight were $157.86{\pm}$4.35 cm, $58.75{\pm}6.01$ kg in premenopausal women and $156.42{\pm}3.62$ cm, $57.63{\pm}5.38$ kg in postmenopausal women, respectively. WHR (waist hip ratio) in postmenopausal women was significantly higher than that of premenopausal women (p<0.05). There were no differences between the pre-and postmenopausal women in the intakes of energy, protein, fat, Ca, Fe, vitamin A, vitamin $B_1$, vitamin $B_2$, niacin, vitamin C and vitamin E. However carbohydrate and Na intakes in postmenopausal women were significantly higher than those of premenopausal women. In postmenopausal women, Ca intake was below and Na intake was extremely high considering KDRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans). Serum triglyceride in postmenopausal women was positively correlated with age, BMI (body mass index) and WHR. Serum total cholesterol and triglyceride in postmenopausal women showed significantly negative correlations with fiber intake. These results suggest that it is necessary to help postmenopausal women maintain a healthy body weight. Postmenopausal women needs to increase Ca (calcium) intakes and diet quality by decreasing the intakes of Na (sodium). In addition, an adequate intakes of fiber is recommended for postmenopausal women to prevent cardiovascular disease.

Many studies have been carried out on carbon fiber-reinforced plastic sheet(hereafter CFRP sheet)-confined concrete specimens for improve structural performance of concrete structures. To complement the existing studies, a parametric study is conducted to examine the effect of various design parameters such as layers of CFRP sheet, size and aspect ratio of specimens, and overlap length. The behavior of CFRP-confined concrete is compared using stress-strain curves of each specimen. And the strengthening effect of CFRP sheet is examined by maximum compressive strength. As the layers of CFRP sheet increases, structural performance of CFRP-confined concrete is significant increased. If the overlap length is more than 5% of circumstance, strengthening effect is not affected. In addition, a test database assembled from test results and existing studies is presented. Using these test database, accuracy and reliability of the existing strength models for CFRP-confined concrete are verified.
