This paper proposes an analytical model of off-line feed rate scheduling to obtain an optimum feed rate for high speed machining. Off-line feed rate scheduling is presented as an advanced technology to regulate cutting forces through change of feed per tooth, which directly affects variation of uncut chip thickness. In this paper, the feed rate scheduling model was developed using a mechanistic cutting force model using cutting-condition-independent coefficients. First, it was verified that cutting force coefficients are not changed with respect to cutting speed. Thus, the feed rate scheduling model using the cutting-condition-independent coefficients can be applied to set the proper feed rates for high speed machining as well as normal machining. Experimental results show that the developed fred rate scheduling model makes it possible to maintain the cutting force at a desired level during high speed machining.
Purpose: In this study, we attempted to analyze, by using a high-speed camera, the cutting shape as a function of cutting speed and feed rate. We compared the differences in cutting shape between domestic and foreign combines. Methods: Experiments were performed using plastic straws, and the results of two combine cutting blades, one from the Daedong Industry and one from Kuboda, were compared. The quality and performances of cutting were measured at three cutting positions: center and 68 cm to the left and right of the center. The feed rates were 0.6 m/s, 1.1 m/s, 1.6 m/s, and the cutting speeds were 600 RPM, 990 RPM, 1,380 RPM. For each speed, the cutting shape was measured three times, and the entire procedure was also repeated three times. Results: In the experiments, the domestic cutting blade achieved better results than the Japanese cutting blade. These results were obtained by studying the combination of feed rate and cutting speed, with the domestic combine attaining approximately 80% performance of the Japanese combine. We believe that additional data analysis is required, obtained from field experiments. Conclusions: The domestic cutting knives achieved better results than the Japanese cutting knives. These results are estimated from experiments conducted with different feed rates and cutting speeds; an in-depth analysis will require experiments in the real field with actual combines and a combination of multiple variables. Repeating the investigation on the length differences, broken and cut angle with various combinations of feed rate and cutting speed, will surely help to find the optimal cutting speed.

Direct drive linear motors have large potential for use as high speed machine tool feed units since they can increase machining rates and improve servo accuracy by eliminating gear related machining problems. So, in this paper, characteristic of 2-axis linear motor feed unit are studied and control gain are adjusted considering positioning, velocity, acceleration and static stiffness. We confirm linear motor feed unit are affected value of control gain sensitively, because drive directly. From the experiment, this feed unit has l${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ micro step resolution, 5.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ positioning accuracy and under 60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ circularity.

The function of Feed Water Ring is to provide the flow path from Feedwater Nozzle to inside of SG(steam generator). Significant amounts of general FAC on the outside of the Feed Water Ring are not likely due to the low flow velocities in this area. However, on the interior of the Feed Water Ring, there may be areas of local higher flow velocity which could lead to higher FAC rates. These may include the inlet tee from the Feedwater Nozzle into the Feed Water Ring, the areas where the Feed Water Ring changes diameter, and especially the entrance area to the J-Nozzles. In this paper, the results of root cause analysis of through-wall hole observed at domestic WH 51F SG Feed Water Ring and its effect on the integrity and performance of SG are described. And, the maintenance strategy for WH 51F SG Feed Water Ring and the monitoring strategy for Downcomer Feed Water Ring of CE System 80 SG are presented.
In this study the formation of the particle layer near the membrane surface was observed for the crossflow micro filtration module by the high speed video system. The microfiltration membrane of 0.2 {\mu}m$ nominal pore size and the 0.05 wt% solution of the polyacryl-copolymer particle distributed between 100 and 180 {\mu}m$ were used for the experiment. The feed rates were changed to 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25 and 1.5 cm/sec while the permeate rates were maintained at $20{\pm}3%$ of the feed rates, respectively, It was observed that the particles were accumulated rapidly on the membrane surface as the feed flow rate increased, but the particles were not accumulated at 0.5 cm/sec, Also, it was confirmed that almost all of the particles in the layer already formed during filtration were removed within 30 seconds as the feed flow rate increased to 1.88 cm/sec.
Postprandial ammonia excretion and oxygen consumption in olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus fed two different feed types, moist pellet (MP) and expanded pellet (EP) diets, to satiation were determined at $12^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, and $25^{\circ}C$ for 48 h. The ammonia excretion and oxygen consumption rates increased with increasing water temperature. However, the postprandial times for the maximum rates of ammonia excretion and oxygen consumption were shortened from 12 h to 6 h after feeding with increasing water temperature. The ammonia excretion and oxygen consumption rates of the fish fed EP were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than those fed MP at 12 h post-feeding both for $12^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$. The highest (P < 0.05) weight-specific ammonia excretion rates at $12^{\circ}C$ were observed in the fish fed EP and MP at $12.1mg\;NH_3-N\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$ and $8.7mg\;NH_3-N\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$, respectively, for 12 h and 9 h after feeding. The highest (P < 0.05) weight-specific oxygen consumption rates at $12^{\circ}C$ were observed in fish fed EP and MP at $116.4mg\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$ and $101.0mg\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$, respectively, for 12 h after feeding. The highest ammonia excretion rates at $25^{\circ}C$ in the fish fed EP and MP increased to $16.9mg\;NH_3-N\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$ and $18.3mg\;NH_3-N\;kg^{-1}h^{-1}$, respectively, for 6 h after feeding. The highest (P < 0.05) weight-specific oxygen consumption rates at $25^{\circ}C$ were observed in fish fed EP and MP at $184.3mg\;O_2kg^{-1}h^{-1}$ and $197.3mg\;O_2kg^{-1}h^{-1}$, respectively. These data are valuable for the design of biofilters and development of effluent treatment technologies for the land-based flounder farms.

Abstract Spirulina platensis was grown in SWlUe waste to reduce inorganic compowlds and simultaneously produce feed resources. Spirulina platensis prefers nitrogenous compounds in Ibe order: $NH_4^{+}-N>NO_3^{-}-N>simple-N$ such as urea and simple amino acids. It even consumes $NH_4^{+}-N$ first when urea or nitrate are present. Therefore, the content of residual $NH_4^{+}-N$ in Spimlina platensis cultures can be determined by the relative extent of the following processes: (i) algal uptake and assimilation; (ii) ammonia stripping; and (iii) decomposition of urea to NH;-N by urease-positive bacteria. The removal rates of total nitrogen ffild total phosphorus were estimated as an indicator of the treatment effIciency. It was found that Spirulina platensis was able to reduce 70-93% of $P_4^{3-}-P$, 67-93% of inorganic nitrogen, 80-90% of COD, and 37-56% of organic nitrogen in various concentrations of swine waste over 12 days of batch cultivation. The removal of inorganic compounds from swine waste was mainly used for cell growth, however, the organic nitrogen removal was not related to cell growlb. A maximum cell density of 1.52 dry-g/l was maintained with a dilution rate of 0.2l/day in continuous cultivation by adding 30% swine waste. The nitrogen and phosphorus removal rates were correlated to the dilution rates. Based on the amino acid profile, the quality of the proteins in the Spirulina platensis grown in the waste was the same as that in a clean culture.ulture.
This study investigated the effects of stocking density and feeding frequency (three and five times per week) on the growth of Pacific cod, Gadus macrocephalus. In the first experiment, experimental groups of fish (mean weight $167.8{\pm}41.4\;g$) were reared at three stocking densities (4, 8 and 12 kg/$m^3$) for 16 weeks. The total weight gain was 17.8, 17.1 and 35.4% at 4, 8 and 12 kg/$m^3$, respectively. The specific growth rates, survival rates and feeding efficiency increased with the density, but there were no significant differences (P>0.05). The daily feed intake decreased as the stocking density increased, whereas the condition factors increased with the stocking density (P<0.05). In the second experiment, groups of fish ($194.1{\pm}68.3\;g$) were fed either three or five times a week. The total wight gain was 14.4 and 18.5% for the fish fed three and five times per week, respectively. The specific growth rates of Pacific cod fed to satiation increased with the feeding frequency, although the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The survival rates, daily feed intake, feed efficiency, and condition factors of the Pacific cod were not significantly different (P>0.05). Based on these results, the optimum stocking density for juvenile cod is above 12 kg/$m^3$, and the best feeding frequency is three times a week, under the conditions used in this experiment.
Data on available feed resources, feeding practices and nutrient adequacy of rations under small farm conditions in Sri Lanka were obtained in a baseline survey involving 104 pig farms. The results showed that a wide range of non-conventional feedstuffs are used for pig feeding under typical small farm conditions and that dietary protein quality is a major factor limiting productivity. Following the survey, two on-farm trials were conducted to evaluate cheaper, alternative feeding strategies. In trial 1, a test diet was formulated using several non-conventional feedstuffs and compared with a commercial feed that is normally fed in the farms. In trial 2, the possibility of improving growth rates by amino acid supplementation was evaluated. The results demonstrated that feed costs can be considerably lowered through these packages. Some problems inherent to on-farm livestock trials are highlighted.
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of form and particle size of feed supplemented with L-threonine on growth performance, carcass characteristic and blood biochemical parameters of broiler chickens. The experimental design was a $2{\times}2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement of treatments evaluating two feed forms (pellet or mash), two feed particle sizes (fine or course), and two inclusion rates of dietary L-threonine (with or without) which adopted from 7 to 42 days of age. In this experiment, 360 a day old chicks in two sexes were assigned in each treatment and each experimental unit was included 15 chicks. Feed consumption and weight gain were measured weekly. At 35 days of age, blood samples were taken to analysis blood biochemical parameters. At the end of the experimental period, two birds were slaughtered in each treatment and carcass analysis was carried out. The results showed that the effect of feed form on body weight gain and feed intake in whole of experimental period was significant (P < 0.05). Broilers fed pelleted diets had more weight gain than the mash group. Growth performance parameters were not affected by feed particle size and dietary L-threonine supplementation in whole of experimental period (P > 0.05). The results of carcass analysis showed that liver and gizzard relative weights were influenced by feed form (P < 0.05). However, pancreas and liver relative weights were affected by feed particle size and dietary L-threonine supplementation, respectively (P < 0.05). Triglyceride and VLDL levels were affected by feed form and dietary L-threonine supplementation (P < 0.05). The effect of feed particle size on blood biochemical parameters was not significant (P > 0.05). In conclusion, the experimental results indicated that feed form increased feed consumption and weight gain in whole of experimental period (1 to 42 days of age) while feed particle size and dietary L-threonine had no effect on broiler performance.
