This study compares the effects of flow on oil and suspended solids removal efficiencies in circular enhanced gravity plate separator equipped with coalescence medium. Coalescence medium acts to capture rising oil droplets and settling solid particles and assist in the coalescence of oil and coagulation of solid. The circular separator uses an upflow center-feed perforated-pipe distributor as the inlet. The co-current flow is achieved using 4 increasing sizes of frustum, whereas cross flow uses inclined coalescence plates running along the radius of the separator. The different arrangement gave the cross flow separator a higher coalescence plan area per operational volume, minimal and constant travelling distance for the oil droplets and particles, lower retention time, and higher operational flowrate. The cross flow separator exhibited 6.04% and 13.16% higher oil and total suspended solids removal efficiencies as compared to co-current flow.

This paper is a study on the effect of the cutting speed on the tool wear in turning of the glass fiber reinforced plastics. The wear behavior of cutting tool is studied by means of turning, changing the cutting speed and feed in the wide range. Moreover, the theoretical model applicable to the cutting speed of wide range is analysed. The main results obtained are as follows: The relation between the tool wear and the cutting speed is divided into three range in case of the constant cutting distance. 1) At the low cutting speed, the tool wear is independent of the cutting speed, but dependent mainly on the contact length between tool and glass fiber(lst range). 2) At the high cutting speed, the tool wear is independent of the contact length, and dependent on the cutting speed only(2nd range). The tool wear increases in proportion to the cutting speed. 3) At the higher cutting speed than the speed in the 2nd range, the tool wear is independent both of the cutting speed and the contact length(3rd range). 4) In the 3rd range, tool flank wear is constant and is observed that only the wear of cutting edge increases.
The beam position monitor (BPM) is an essential component for the PEFP 100-MeV linac's commissioning. A prototype stripline-type linac BPM was designedfor this purpose. The electrode aperture is 20 mm in diameter, and the electrode is 25 mm long, so it can be installed between Drift Tube Linac (DTL)101 and DTL102, which is the shortest distance. One end of the electrode is connected to the Sub Miniature Type A (SMA) feed through for signal measurement, and the other end is terminated as a short. The signal amplitude of the fundamental component was calculated and compared with that of the second harmonic component. The designed BPM was fabricated and a low-power RF test was conducted. In this paper, the design, fabrication and low power test of the BPM for the PEFP linac are presented.
Cylindrical worm reducers are generally used in various fields and forms throughout the industry, and demand is increasing due to their role as an integral part of the industry. Market trends require high-load, high-precision components, and small-sized reducers with large loads. When using a cylindrical worm reducer, a reducer designed with a reduced center distance while maintaining the same output torque results in gear wear. To overcome this difficulty, an enveloping worm gear reducer is introduced and studied. In this paper, three types of end mill tools are used to evaluate the tooth profile accuracy for each tool shape during machining of the tooth profile for a non-developed surface worm thread. The effect of the endmill shape on the accuracy of the tooth profile was analyzed by performing 3D modeling of the surrounding worm tooth profile based on the Hindley method. In this study, we analyzed tooth profile accuracy, tooth surface roughness, and tooth surface machining time, etc. Through the study, efficient machining conditions for the enveloping worm gears and the influence of parameters on the process were presented.

Various types of microstrip antennas can be used for many applications in wireless communication systems. In this paper, we studied a design method for a broadband dual-fed stacked microstrip patch antenna. The impedance bandwidth is improved by adjusting the sizes of main radiating patch and parasitic patch, the distance between the patches, the length of inset feed line, etc. The antenna is designed by simulation for an operation in the frequency range of 2.3-2.7 GHz, and the antenna characteristics such as return loss, gain, radiation patterns are examined.

To lessen oxygen concentrations in a wafer through modifying the length of graphite heaters, we investigated the influence of relative distance from heater to quartz crucible on temperature profile of hot-zone in Czochralski silicon-crystal growth by simulation. In particular, ATC temperature and power profiles as a function of different ingot body positions were investigated for five different heater designs; (a) typical side heater (SH), (b) short side heater-up (SSH-up), (c) short side heater-low (SSH-low), (d) bottom heater without side heater (Only-BH), and (e) side heater with bottom heater (SH + BH). It was confirmed that lower short side heater exhibited the highest ATC temperature, which was attributed to the longest distance from triple point to heater center. In addition, for the viewpoint of energy efficiency, it was observed that the typical side heater showed the lowest power because it heated more area of quartz crucible than that of others. This result provides the possibility to predict the feed-forward delta temperature profile as a function of various heater designs.

Excessive input of organic matters from fish cage farming has been considered as one of the major factors disturbing benthic ecosystem, especially in semi-enclosed coastal waters. Recently offshore aquaculture in the vicinity of Jeju-do has been introduced to minimize that kind of negative impact. This study was conducted to investigate the ecological impacts of offshore aquaculture on the macrobenthic polychaete communities. A total of ten sampling works were carried out for 28 months, spanning from 10 days after starting giving feed to 3 months after stopping giving feed. During the study period, mean current velocity was quite strong with the range of 50 cm/s to 70 cm/s. TOC of surface sediment was constantly low. Significant changes in polychaete community were detected just three months after starting giving feed, which were the increase of the number of species and density at all stations. Up to 18 months after the start of farming, the amount of feed provided played an important role in the fluctuation of the number of species and density, especially at 0 m and 10 m stations. After reducing the amount of feed provided, dominance of some opportunistic species within 10 m distance from fish cages still lasted to the end of aquaculture. However, opportunistic species disappeared 3 months after the end of farming, which indicated the sign of recovery from the disturbance. From these results, the amount of food input and the period of cultivation were critical factors disturbing polychaete community and ensuing changes in this offshore and oligotrophic waters as well. In addition, study on the changes of polychaete community structure before and after fish farming showed more detailed changes in benthic ecological state than geochemical approach did.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the topography of land and vegetation and the preferred habitat of wintering cranes. Investigations were conducted twelve times in Cheorwon basin, South Korea, during two wintering seasons (12/2005 - 2/2006; 1/2007 - 2/2007). The density of rice grain in the middle of rice paddies was higher than that of the areas along the edge of rice paddies. However it was observed that red-naped cranes preferred to feed along the edges of rice paddies rather than to feed in the middle of the paddies. White-naped cranes, on the other hand, Preferred to feed in the middle of paddies. To be more specific, red-crowned cranes preferred feeding sites such as levees of the paddies or the areas where the level of the rice beds was comparatively more elevated. But the preference of the white-naped cranes turned out to be just the opposite. Another finding was that both red-naped cranes and white-naped cranes preferred concealed areas for their feeding site, and the frequency rate of their feeding in concealed areas has little to do with weather factors. This finding contradicts a widely accepted view that cranes prefer open spaces for their feeding site. Besides, red-crowned cranes, compared with white-naped cranes, preferred to feed in more concealed areas. The frequency rate of feeding in both concealed areas and non-concealed areas had little to do with the size of feeding flocks. There was no difference between a flock of fewer than five cranes and a flock of more than five cranes in terms of frequency rate of their feeding. In conclusion, the result of these investigations indicate that red-naped cranes comparatively prefer concealed areas for their feeding site, and white-naped cranes are less prone to them, and there is no direct connection between their preference of feeding site or frequency and the size of their flock. This is presumed to be the characteristics unique to their individual species.
The main purpose of this study is to develop a commercial scale of pervaporative process equipped with hollow fiber membrane modules, being able to effectually purify organic solvent at high temperature well over its boiling point under high vapor pressure. Three constituent technologies have been developed; 1) to fabricate braid-reinforced hollow fiber membrane stable in high pressure and high temperature application, 2) to design and fabricate a commercial scale of hollow fiber membrane module, and 3) to design and fabricate a pilot scale of pervaporation equipment system. The developed hollow fiber membrane possesses a membrane performance superior to the membrane of Sulzer (Germany) which is the most-well known for pervaporation process, and the membrane module equips hollow fiber membranes of $4.6m^2$ and the pervaporation system can treat organic liquid at 200 L/h, which is based on the dehydration of 95 wt% isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Since the membrane module is designed to flow in and pass through the inside of individual hollow fiber membrane, not to involve both the formation of feed's dead volume observed in flat-sheet membrane module and the channeling of feed occurring inside hollow fiber bundle which lower membrane performance seriously, it showed excellent separation efficiency. In particular, the module is inexpensive and has less heat loss into its surrounding, in compared with flat-sheet membrane module. In addition, permeant can be removed effectively from the outer surface of hollow fiber membrane because the applied vacuum is conveyed uniformly through space between fibers into respective fiber, even into one in the middle of the hollow fiber bundle in which the space between fibers is uniform in distance. Since the hollow fiber membrane pervaporation system is the first one ever developed in the world, our own unique proprietary technology can be secured, preoccupying technical superiority in export competitive challenges.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of Catalpa Ovata on the collagen-induced arthritis in the lewis rats. and we infere the effects of Catalpa Ovata on the rheumatoid arthritis in the human body.
