Design of Efficient FFT Processor for MIMO-OFDM Based SDR Systems (MIMO-OFDM 기반 SDR 시스템을 위한 효율적인 FFT 프로세서 설계)

  • In this paper, an area-efficient FFT processor is proposed for MIMO-OFDM based SDR systems. The proposed scalable FFT processor can support the variable length of 64, 128, 512, 1024 and 2048. By reducing the required number of non-trivial multipliers with mixed-radix (MR) and multi-path delay commutator (MDC) architecture, the complexity of the proposed FFT processor is dramatically decreased without sacrificing system throughput The proposed FFT processor was designed in hardware description language (HDL) and synthesized to gate4eve1 circuits using 0.18um CMOS standard cell library. With the proposed architecture, the gate count for the processor is 46K and the size of memory is 64Kbits, which are reduced by 59% and 39%, respectively, compared with those of the 4-channel radix-2 single-path delay feedback (R2SDF) FFT processor. Also, compared with 4-channel radix-2 MDC (R2MDC) FFT processor, it is confirmed that the gate count and memory size are reduced by 16.4% and 26.8, respectively.

Adaptive Process Decision-Making with Simulation and Regression Models (시뮬레이션과 회귀분석을 연계한 적응형 공정의사결정방법)

  • This study proposes adaptive decision making method having feed-back structure of regression and simulation models to support the quick decision making of production managers by managing and integrating the mutual relationship among historical data. For that, from historical data that have extracted and accumulated from each process, we first selected major constraint resources that are used as independent variables in regression model. The regression model is designed by using the dependent variables (objectives) that defined above by managers and independent variables selected in previous step and simulation model that are composed of constraint resources is designed. In process of simulation run, we obtain the multiple feasible solutions (alternatives) by using meta-heuristic method. Each solution is substituted by regression equation and we found the optimal solution that is minimum of difference between values obtained by regression model and simulation results. The optimal solution is delivered and incorporated to production site and current operation results from production site is used to generate new regression model after that time.

  • In this study, constructability of ecologocal stream restoration process was evaluated and improved approaches for habitat were suggested. The study site is Gucheon River in Geoje city where conducted ecologocal restoration work within maintaining its flood control function. Application of ecological design factors and constructability in the process from planning to construction was analyzed and its results are as follows: In the process of planning and designing, it was focused more on the naturality of Gucheon River rather than the human convinience and ecological design factors were applied within the ecological capacity of the site. First, the indexes for constructability evaluation is selected. It was classified into three major categories as construction quality, design quality and construction administration system. Each index has details, so there are twenty sub indexes for contractibility evaluation. Second, the evaluation results shows that the index most in need of improvement was plumbing construction, followed by Stone construction and pavement construction. design concept was evaluated as appropriate in entire categories. Finally it is suggested that it can be improved in both process of design to enhance the technology and process of construction to enhance the quality management. The constructability of ecological stream needs adaptive management and it must be discussed with its designing which is at the stage before construction. Also it needs discussion with its designer constantly and feed-back process.

HVOF Spray Coating of Co-alloy(T800) for the Improvement of durability of High Speed Spindle (초고속 회전체의 내구성향상을 위한 Co-alloy(T800)의 초고속 용사코팅)

  • Micron size Co-alloy(T800) powder was coated on Inconel 718 by HVOF thermal spraying for the studies of the improvement of durability of high speed spindle by using Taguchi program for the parameters of spray distance, flow rates of hydrogen and oxygen and powder feed rate. The optimal coating process was determined by the studies of coating properties such as micro-structure, porosity, surface roughness and micro hardness. Friction and wear behaviors of coatings were investigated by sliding wear test at room temperature and $1000^{\circ}F(538^{\circ}C)$. At both room temperature and $538^{\circ}C$ the sliding wear debris and friction coefficients of the coating were drastically reduced compared with the surface of non-coated parent material. This shows that Co-alloy powder coating is highly recommendable for the durability improvement surface coating of high speed air-bearing spindle. At high temperature wear traces and friction coefficients of both coating and non-coating were drastically reduced compared with those of room temperature since the brittle oxides were formed easily on the surface, and the brittle oxide phases were attrited by the reciprocating sliding wear according to the complicated mixed wear mechanisms These oxide particles, partially melts and the melts play role as lubricant and reduce the wear and friction coefficient. This also shows that Co-alloy powder coating is highly recommendable far the durability improvement surface coating on the surface vulnerable to frictional heat such as high speed spindles.

Effect of Chromium Picolinate on Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Serum Metabolites and Metabolism of Lipid in Pigs

  • The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of chromium picolinate (CrP) on growth, carcass characteristics and serum metabolites in growing-finishing pigs. A total of 96 Landrace$\times$Yorkshire$\times$Duroc hybrid pigs, initial live weight about $38.12{\pm}00kg$, were randomly assigned to 2 groups (16 pigs per pen, 3 pens per group), each group had 48 pigs with an equal number of barrows and gilts. The pigs were fed the diet with or without $200{\mu}g/kg$ Cr from CrP. The results indicated that the addition of $200{\mu}g/kg$ CrP increased ADG by 3.58% and decreased feed conversion rate (FCR) by 3.00% compared to the control group. Pigs fed CrP had 7.58% (p<0.05) higher carcass lean percentage, 15.55% (p<0.05) larger longissimus muscle area (LMA) and 10.90% (p<0.05) lower back fat thickness, 15.17% (p<0.05) lower carcass fat percentage. In addition, the IGF-I level in serum was elevated by 79.20% (p<0.05), the Insulin and cortisol level decreased by 27.35% (p<0.05) and 34.58% (p<0.05) respectively with supplementation of CrP. Analysis of subcutaneous fat (10th rib) showed that the activity of hormone sensitive lipase (HSL) increased by 79.58% (p<0.05) and the activities of isocitrate dehydrogenase (ISD) and malate dehydrogenase (MDH) decreased significantly by 15.06% (p<0.05) and 54.53% (p<0.05) respectively in the $200{\mu}g/kg$ CrP group. The concentration of RNA, RNA/DNA in LMA increased by 31.89% (p<0.05) and 5.41% (p<0.05) respectively with the addition of CrP. These results suggest that CrP reduced fat deposits by decreasing lipogenic enzyme activities and increasing HSL activity and may have promoted muscle anabolic metabolism through elevated IGF-I levels.

Effect of Season, Parity and Lactation on Reproductive Performance of Sows in a Tropical Humid Climate

  • The aim of this study was to analyze post-weaning reproductive performance of Large White sows in relation to season, parity and their lactation performance under tropical conditions in Guadeloupe (French West Indies, $16^{\circ}$ Lat. N, $61^{\circ}$ Long. W.). This work was based on data recorded in the experimental unit of INRA from January 1993 to December 2003. Two seasons were determined a posteriori from climatic parameters recorded continuously in a station close to the experimental unit. Mean ambient temperature was higher during the hot season than the warm season ($26^{\circ}C$ vs. $24^{\circ}C$) but relative humidity was comparable for both seasons (i.e. 87% on average). Season had a significant effect on all reproductive parameters analyzed. Primiparous sows weaned in the hot season had a higher probability of a prolonged weaning to estrus interval, WEI (odds ratio was 4.1; p<0.01) but multiparous sows were not affected. A higher probability of a prolonged weaning to conception interval, WCI (odds ratio >2.5, p<0.01) and a lower subsequent farrowing rate (-10%, p<0.01) were found for sows weaned in the hot season. A higher daily feed intake during lactation reduced the probability of a prolonged WEI (p<0.05). Body weight and average back-fat thickness at farrowing affected WEI and WCI (p<0.05), whereas body weight and average backfat thickness change in lactation did not. This study confirms the negative effects of the hot season on primiparous reproductive performance. It also indicates that lactation performance influences sow non-productive period.

Estimation of Weld Bead Shape and the Compensation of Welding Parameters using a hybrid intelligent System (하이브리드 지능시스템을 이용한 용접 파라메타 보상과 용접형상 평가에 관한 연구)

  • For efficient welding it is necessary to maintain stability of the welding process and control the shape of the welding bead. The welding quality can be controlled by monitoring important parameters, such as, the Arc Voltage, Welding Current and Welding Speed during the welding process. Welding systems use either a vision sensor or an Arc sensor, both of which are unable to control these parameters directly. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain necessary bead geometry without automatically controlling the welding parameters through the sensors. In this paper we propose a novel approach using fuzzy logic and neural networks for improving welding qualify and maintaining the desired weld bead shape. Through experiments we demonstrate that the proposed system can be used for real welding processes. The results demonstrate that the system can efficiently estimate the weld bead shape and remove the welding detects.

  • This study analyzed the properties of VHF band and suggested an efficient VHF band application plan for digital radio and UHDTV broadcasting through the experiment by the house T-DMB device in practical user environment. In order to find an efficient frequency band for digital radio broadcasting, this study examined first, to check the times of drop-out receive occurring in the audible area using a DMB/FM CAR Radio for T-DMB that has the characteristics of DAB. Second, this article explored the phenomenon of feedback loops in the same channel using a T-DMB house gap filler transmitting the signal by the same OFDM modulation scheme with UHDTV for configuring suitable SFN transmission network of the UHDTV broadcasting. Based on these experiments, this study suggested a suitable VHF band for digital radio and an efficient utilization of the VHF frequency band for the SFN network configuration of UHDTV.

  • In content-based image retrieval, the query is an image itself and the retrieval process is the process that seeking the similar images to the given query image. In this way of retrieval, the user has to know the basic physical features of target images that he wants to retrieve. But it has some restriction because to retrieve the target image he has to know the basic physical feature space such as color, texture, shape and spatial relationship. In this paper, we propose an emotion-based retrieval system. It uses the emotion that color images have. It is different from past emotion-based image retrieval in point of view that it uses relevance feedback to estimate the users intend and it is easily combined with past content-based image retrieval system. To test the performance of our proposed system, we use MPEG-7 color descriptor and emotion language such as "warm", "clean", "bright" and "delight" We test about 1500 wallpaper images and get successful result.lpaper images and get successful result.

  • There are several factors causing re-work in CMP process such as improper polish time calculation by operator. removal rate decline of the polisher, unstable in-suit pad conditioning, slurry supply module problem and wafer carrier rotation inconsistancy. And conclusively those fundimental reason for the re-work rate increasement is mainly from the cycle time delay between wafer polish and post measurement. Therefore, Wafer thickness measurement in wet condition could be able to remove those improper process conditions which may happen during the process in comparison with the conventional dried wafer measurement system and it can be able to reduce the CMP process cycle time. CMP scrap reduction by overpolish, re-work rate reduction, thickness control efficiency also can be easily achieved. CMP Equipment manufacturer also trying to develop integrated system which has multi-head & platen, cleaner, pre & post thickness measure and even control the polish time from the calculated removal rate of each polishing head by software. CMP re-work problem such as over & under polish by target thickness may result in the cycle time delay. By reducing those inefficient factors during the process and establish of the automatic process control, CLC system need to be adopted to maximize the process performance. Wafer to Wafer Polish Time Feed Back Control by measuring the wafer right after the polish shorten the polish time calculation for the next wafer and it lead to the perfact Post CMP target thickness control capability. By Monitoring all of the processed the wafer, CMP process will also be stabilize itself.
