Computer Aided Diagnosis System based on Performance Evaluation Agent Model

  • In this paper, we present a performance evaluation agent based on fuzzy cluster analysis and validity measures. The proposed agent is consists of three modules, fuzzy cluster analyzer, performance evaluation measures, and feature ranking algorithm for feature selection step in CAD system. Feature selection is an important step commonly used to create more accurate system to help human experts. Through this agent, we get the feature ranking on the dataset of mass and calcification lesions extracted from the public real world mammogram database DDSM. Also we design a CAD system incorporating the agent and apply five different feature combinations to the system. Experimental results proposed approach has higher classification accuracy and shows the feasibility as a diagnosis supporting tool.

네트워크 기반 특징형상 모델링 (Network-based Feature Modeling in Distributed Design Environment)

  • Network and Internet technology opens up another domain for building future CAD/CAM environment. The environment will be global, network-centric, and spatially distributed. In this paper, we present an approach for network-centric feature-based modeling in a distributed design environment. The presented approach combines the current feature-based modeling technique with distributed computing and communication technology for supporting product modeling and collaborative design activities over the network. The approach is implemented in a client/server architecture, in which Web-enabled feature modeling clients, neutral feature model server, and other applications communicate with one another via a standard communication protocol. The paper discusses how the neutral feature model supports multiple views and maintains naming consistency between geometric entities of the server and clients. Moreover, it explains how to minimize the network delay between the server and client according to incremental feature modeling operations.

  • This paper deals with some critical activities of CAPP system such as generation of part description database, part feature recognition, process and operation selection, and sequencing method for turning operation of symmetric rotational parts. The part description database is generated by data conversion module from CAD data, and the part feature is recognized by using both pattern primitives and feature recognition rules. Machining processes and operations are selected based on machining surface features and its sequence is determined by rules acquired from process planning expert. AutoCAD is employed as CAD system and computer program is developed by using Turbo-C on IBM PC/AT compatible system.

용접판 구조물의 설계를 위한 Feature 기반 모델링 시스템 (A Feature Based Modeling System for the Design of Welded Plate Construction)

  • Developed in this paper is a feature based modeling system for the design of welded plat construction(WPC) which is composed of flat or bended plates represented as reference plane with a constant thickness. First, the necessity and the characteristics of the modeing system for WPC as compared with the assembly of mechanical parts are investigated. Secondly, feature library for the assembly of WPC is shown which contains several types of features like joint feature, groove feature, material feature, and precision feature. Thirdly, the assembly procedures are presented which mainly consist of both the assembly transformation and the correct assembly checking. Fourthly, weld lines of the assembled WPC are defined so that those can be used in the process planning or the manufacturing stage. Finally, a prototype by a geometric modeling software Pro/Engineer, a graphic software GL(Graphic Library), and C language on a CAD workstation IRIS.

표준형상 매개변수 추출을 이용한 자동공정계획 (Automatic Process Planning by Parsing the Parameters of Standard Features)

  • This paper presents an approach to automate process planning of press dies for manufacturing of car bodies. Considering that the press-dies used at the same press operations regardless of the panels they produce or the car models of which they produce panels have similar shapes except for the forming part of the dies, general approaches to recognize manufacturing features from CAD models are not necessary. Therefore, a hybrid approach is proposed combining feature-based design and feature-extraction approaches. The proposed method recognizes features by parsing the parameters extracted from CAD models and finds proper operations by querying the database by the recognized features. An internet-based process planning system is developed to demonstrate the proposed approach and to suggest a new paradigm of process planning system that utilizes an internet access to the CAD system.

  • This study is about development of Feature-based Solid Modeling system in integrated CAD/CAM environment. Parasolid modeling kernel and HOOPS/3D graphics library was used to develop this system in PC level. System feature library was defined using both procedural and declarative approach method. The raw stock is created by boolean operator using design primitives, and a part is designed that pre-defined feature is removed from the raw stock. This method is called "DSG(Destructive Solid Geometry)" and basic constructive operator of this system. This is not complete system and only the first step to develop Feature-based Solid Modeling System using Parasolid. We will add more powerful functionality and flexible GUI in Windows.n Windows.

An automatic 3D CAD model errors detection method of aircraft structural part for NC machining

  • Feature-based NC machining, which requires high quality of 3D CAD model, is widely used in machining aircraft structural part. However, there has been little research on how to automatically detect the CAD model errors. As a result, the user has to manually check the errors with great effort before NC programming. This paper proposes an automatic CAD model errors detection approach for aircraft structural part. First, the base faces are identified based on the reference directions corresponding to machining coordinate systems. Then, the CAD models are partitioned into multiple local regions based on the base faces. Finally, the CAD model error types are evaluated based on the heuristic rules. A prototype system based on CATIA has been developed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • The design of injection molded polymeric parts has been done empirically, since it requires profound knowledge about the moldability and causal effects on the properties of the part, which are not available to designers through current CAD systems. An interactive computer-based design system is developed in order to realize the concept of rational design for the productivity and quality of mold making. The knowledge-based CAD system is constructed by adding the knowledge-base module for mold feature synthesis and appropriate CAE programs for mold design analysis in order to provide designers, at the initial design stage, with comprehensive process knowledge for feature synthesis performance analysis and feature-based geometric modeling. A knowledge-based CAD system is a new tool which enables the concurrent design with integrated and balanced design decisions at the initial design stage of injection molding.

단계적 볼륨분해에 기반한 경계표현 모델의 단순화 (Simplification of Boundary Representation Models Based on Stepwise Volume Decomposition)

  • 본 논문에서는 경계표현 모델에 특징형상기반 단순화를 적용하는 방법을 제안한다. 특징형상기반 단순화를 위해, 경계표현 모델로부터 볼륨분해 트리가 생성된다. 볼륨분해 트리는 가산적 볼륨, 감산적 볼륨 및 필렛/라운드/모따기 볼륨들의 정규화된 불리언 연산으로 표현되며, 필렛/라운드/모따기 분해, 랩어라운드 분해, 볼륨분할 분해 및 셀 기반 분해로 구성된 단계적 볼륨분해를 이용해 생성된다. 볼륨분해 트리는 중위연산 형태로 변환되고, 볼륨들의 순서를 변경하여 CAD 모델을 단순화시킨다. 제안한 방법의 검증을 위해, 프로토타입 시스템을 구현했고, 테스트 케이스에 대한 CAD 모델 단순화 실험을 수행하였다. 실험을 통해 제안한 방법이 경계표현 기반 CAD 모델의 단순화에 유용함을 확인하였다.

Design of a Feature-based Multi-viewpoint Design Automation System

  • Viewpoint-dependent feature-based modelling in computer-aided design is developed for the purposes of supporting engineering design representation and automation. The approach of this paper uses a combination of a multi-level modelling approach. This has two stages of mapping between models, and the multi-level model approach is implemented in three-level architecture. Top of this level is a feature-based description for each viewpoint, comprising a combination of form features and other features such as loads and constraints for analysis. The middle level is an executable representation of the feature model. The bottom of this multi-level modelling is a evaluation of a feature-based CAD model obtained by executable feature representations defined in the middle level. The mappings involved in the system comprise firstly, mapping between the top level feature representations associated with different viewpoints, for example for the geometric simplification and addition of boundary conditions associated with moving from a design model to an analysis model, and secondly mapping between the top level and the middle level representations in which the feature model is transformed into the executable representation. Because an executable representation is used as the intermediate layer, the low level evaluation can be active. The example will be implemented with an analysis model which is evaluated and for which results are output. This multi-level modelling approach will be investigated within the framework aimed for the design automation with a feature-based model.
