  • A golden age for Korean documentary films has begun in the 2010s. At present, the success of documentary film is attracting interest than any time in history. To meet the timely demand, the present study conducted research on success factors of documentary films for the first time. This study adopted the three categories of Litman's film success factors (creative domain, distribution domain, and marketing domain) and integrated to the cases of Korean documentary films to extract 12 success factors of documentary films through experts' validation process. Moreover, this study applied AHP method and examined the relative importance of success factors of documentary films. The result was as follows. The significant success factors mostly were found within creative domain. Documentaries that feature common themes rated the distribution/marketing factors highly whereas documentaries that cover socio-political themes rated highly the governments funding and infrastructure building. With regard to the online phenomenon of participating viewer, there was a gap in perception: the production field rated it high while the distribution/marketing field rated it relatively low. These success factors and priority will be used as baseline data in diverse fields related to documentary films, and provide significant implications to documentary film staff, policy makers, and researchers.

  • Some infrastructure these days is usually constructed under the ground for it to not interfere the foot-traffic of pedestrians, and thus, it is difficult to visually confirm the accurate location of the site where the establishments must be buried. These technical difficulties increase the magnitude of the problems that could arise from over-reliance on the experience of the worker or a mere blueprint. Such problems include exposure to flood and collapse. This paper proposes a constructor-oriented visualization system via mobile gadgets in general construction sites with occluded structures. This proposal is consisted with three stages. First, "Stage of detecting manhole and extracting features" detects and extracts the basis point of occluded structures which is unoccluded manhole. Next, "Stage of tracking features" tracks down the extracted features in the previous stage. Lastly, "Stage of visualizing occluded constructions" analyzes and synthesizes the GPS data and 3D objects obtained from mobile gadgets in the previous stages. This proposal implemented ideal method through parallel analysis of manhole detection, feature extraction, and tracking techniques in indoor environment, and confirmed the possibility through occluded water-pipe augmentation in real environment. Also, it offers a practical constructor-oriented environment derived from the augmented 3D results of occluded water-pipings.

  • The physical origin of complex dynamic domain configuration in nonequilibrium magnetic systems with mesoscopic length scales has been studied. An increasing complexity in the spatial feature of the evolution is found to accompany the increasing reversal speed, when a ferromagnetic element is driven by progressively faster switching fields applied antiparallel to the initial magnetization direction. As reversal rates approach the characteristic precession frequencies of spin fluctuations, the thermal energy can boost the magnetization into local configurations which are completely different from those experienced during quasistatic reversal. The sensitive dependence of the spatial pattern on switching speed can be understood in terms of a dynamic exchange interaction of thermally excited spins; the coherent modulation of the spins is strongly dependent on the rise time of switching pulses.

  • A new method for the electrostatic suspension of disk-shaped objects is proposed which is based on a switched-voltage control scheme. It operates according to a relay feedback control and deploys only a single high-voltage power supply capable of delivering a dc voltage of positive and/or negative polarity. In addition to the unique feature that no high-voltage amplifiers are needed, this method provides a remarkable system simplification relative to conventional methods. It is shown that despite the inherent limit cycle property of relay feedback based control, an excellent performance in vibration suppression is attained due to the presence of a relatively large squeeze film damping. In this paper, the functional principle of the switched voltage control scheme, numerical analysis, stator electrode design, and a nonlinear dynamic model of the suspension system are described. Experimental results will be presented for a 4-inch silicon wafer that clearly reveal the capability of the proposed control structure to suspend the wafer stably at an airgap length of 50 .mu.m.

  • In order to analyze the characteristics of complicated TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) circuits, it is indispensible to use simulation programs. In this study, we present a systematic method of extracting the input parameters of poly-Si TFT for Spice simulation. This method is applied to two different types of poly-Si TFTs fabricated in our group with good results. Among the Spice simulators, Pspice has the graphic user interface feature making the composition of complicated circuits easier. We added successfully a poly-Si TFT model on the Pspice simulator, which would contribute to efficient simulations of poly-Si TFT-LCD pixels and arrays.

  • The sputtering condition of Cr thin film was established in order to get Cr gate electrode having a vertical wall structure for Mo-tip FEA. In case of Mo-tip FEA which had a vertically-etched Cr gate electrode, the field enhancement factor, was relatively increased and so the field emission performance in terms of turn-on voltage, emission current and trans-conductance could be improved when compared with the devices having a tapered gate wall.

  • In this study, we investigate the capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics of metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) capacitors consisting of pentacene, as an organic semiconductor, and polymeric insulators such as poly(4-vinylphenol) (PVP) orpolystyrene (PS) prepared by spin-coating process, to analyze the interfacial characteristics between pentacene and polymeric insulators. Compared with the device with PS, the MIS capacitor with PVP exhibited a pronounced shift in the flat-band voltage according to the bias sweep direction. This hysteric feature in the C-V characteristics is thought to be attributed to the trapped charges at the interface between pentacene and PVP owing to the hydrophilicity of PVP. From the experimental results, we can conclude that surface polarity of polymeric insulator has a critical effect on the interfacial properties, thereby affecting the bias stability of organic thin-film transistors.

  • The most important feature of a-Si TFT is dense localized states such as dangling bonds which exist in tis bandgap. Electrons trapped by localized states dominate the potential distribution in the active a-Si region ,and influence the performance of a-Si TFT. In this paper, we describe the electrical characteristics of a-Si TFT with respect to trap distribution within bandgap, electron mobility and interface states using 2-Dimensional device simulator and compare the result of simulation with measurements. Using the mixed-mode simulator, we can predict the potential variation of pixel which causes residual image problem during the turn-off of a-Si TFT driving circuit. Therefore it is possible to consider trade-off between potential variation of pixel and turn-on current of a-Si TFT for the optimized driving circuit.
