Recently, image matching becomes important in Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) due to the huge amount of medical images. Specially, texture feature is useful in medical image matching. However, texture features such as co-occurrence matrices can't describe well the spatial distribution of gray levels of the neighborhood pixels. In this paper we propose a frequency domain-based texture feature extractor that describes the local spatial distribution for medical image retrieval. This method is based on 2D Local Discrete Fourier transform of local images. The features are extracted from local Fourier histograms that generated by four Fourier images. Experimental results using 40 classes Brodatz textures and 1 class of Emphysema CT images show that the average accuracy of retrieval is about 93%.
This paper examines feature-based reconstruction algorithm using feature-based modeling and based on topology optimization technology, which aims to achieve a minimal volume weight and to satisfy user-defined constraints such as stress, deformation related conditions. The finite element model after topology optimization allows us to remove some region of a solid model for predefined volume requirement. The stress or deformation distribution resulted from finite element analysis enables us to add some material to the solid model for a robust structure. For this purpose, we propose a feature-based redesign algorithm which inserts negative features to the solid model for material removal and positive features for material addition, and we introduce a bisection method which searches an optimal structure by iteratively applying the feature-based redesign algorithm. Several examples are considered to illustrate the proposed algorithms and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present approach.
To investigate the non-Gaussian feature of fluctuating wind pressures on rectangular high-rise buildings, wind tunnel tests were conducted on scale models with side ratios ranging from 1/9~9 in an open exposure for various wind directions. The high-order statistical moments, time histories, probability density distributions, and peak factors of pressure fluctuations are analyzed. The mixed normal-Weibull distribution, Gumbel-Weibull distribution, and lognormal-Weibull distribution are adopted to fit the probability density distribution of different non-Gaussian wind pressures. Zones of Gaussian and non-Gaussian are classified for rectangular buildings with various side ratios. The results indicate that on the side wall, the non-Gaussian wind pressures are related to the distance from the leading edge. Apart from the non-Gaussianity in the separated flow regions noted by some literature, wind pressures behind the area where reattachment happens present non-Gaussian nature as well. There is a new probability density distribution type of non-Gaussian wind pressure which has both long positive and negative tail found behind the reattachment regions. The correlation coefficient of wind pressures is proved to reflect the non-Gaussianity and a new method to estimate the mean reattachment length of rectangular high-rise building side wall is proposed by evaluating the correlation coefficient. For rectangular high-rise buildings, the mean reattachment length calculated by the correlation coefficient method along the height changes in a parabolic shape. Distributions of Gaussian and non-Gaussian wind pressures vary with side ratios. It is inappropriate to estimate the extreme loads of wind pressures using a fixed peak factor. The trend of the peak factor with side ratios on different walls is given.
This study aims to estimate the species, size and shape of fish using a non-contact 3 dimensional pattern laser so that this preliminary test was carried out to understand the structural feature and length of goldfish according to water turbidity and depth in the aquacultural tank. 3-D pattern laser could clearly detect its morphological shape except the caudal fin due to soft tissue. Since the sensing strength of line laser light according to depth has sufficient power, it is possible to measure its depth and structural feature in the detected range. The result showed that the measured error of individual's fork length was less than ${\pm}1%$ in the water using 3-D pattern laser, when compared with the measured value in the air.
In this paper, a new license plate recognition method using the morphological size distribution functions and color images is proposed. The proposed method consists of two steps. The first step is license plate extraction process using the plate color and step edge information in the license plate. The second step is the extraction of character feature vectors using the morphological size distribution functions and character recognition process using the MLP(multilayer perceptron). By the use of morphological size distributions functions, the error that may occur during the character region extraction process is lessened and the recognition performances are improved by the decrease of feature vector dimension.
A physics-based material removal model in various scales is described and a feature scale simulation for a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process is performed in this work. Three different scales are considered in this model, i.e., abrasive particle scale, asperity scale and wafer scale. The abrasive particle and the asperity scales are combined together and then homogenized to result in force balance conditions to be satisfied in the wafer scale using an extended Greenwood-Williamson and Whitehouse-Archard statistical model that takes into consideration the joint distribution of asperity heights and asperity tip radii. The final computation is made to evaluate the material removal rate in wafer scale and a computer simulation is performed for detailed surface profile variations on a representative feature. The results show the dependence of the material removal rate on the joint distribution, applied external pressure, relative velocity, and other operating conditions and design parameters.
The image classification is one of the most important studies in the remote sensing. In general, the MLC(Maximum Likelihood Classification) classification that in consideration of distribution of training information is the most effective way but it produces a bad result when we apply it to actual hyperspectral image with the same classification technique. The purpose of this research is to reveal that which one is the most effective and suitable way of the classification algorithms iii the hyperspectral image classification. To confirm this matter, we apply the MLC classification algorithm which has distribution information and SAM(Spectral Angle Mapper), SFF(Spectral Feature Fitting) algorithm which use average information of the training class to both multispectral image and hyperspectral image. I conclude this result through quantitative and visual analysis using confusion matrix could confirm that SAM and SFF algorithm using of spectral pattern in vector domain is more effective way in the hyperspectral image classification than MLC which considered distribution.
The property of the mobile phone is taking important role to choose it. In the present situation, exploring, comparing and analyzing the important properties of regular mobile phone(feature phone) and smart phone are very meaningful study. Therefore, the survey was carried out to get the properties of feature phone and smart phone and analyze the difference of those phones. And proposed the important variables for customer satisfaction which must be given priority. The result showed that 'design' and 'Quality' are important to both mobile phone user groups. The problems with mobile phones currently in use were 'poor performance' to feature phone users and 'expensive charge' and 'poor A/S' to smart phone users. Two groups also showed significant difference with the customer satisfactions, and smart phone user group showed higher satisfaction. For smart phone user group, four factors are induced from the properties but 'Hardware Quality' (representing 'call Quality', 'A/S', 'Convenience to use', 'Battery life') and 'Design & Function'(representing 'Internet', 'Convergence Functions', 'Design, 'Color') have significant and positive effects on Customer Satisfaction.
The complexity of deep learning models affects the real-time performance of gesture recognition, thereby limiting the application of gesture recognition algorithms in actual scenarios. Hence, a residual learning neural network based on a deep convolutional neural network is proposed. First, small convolution kernels are used to extract the local details of gesture images. Subsequently, a shallow residual structure is built to share weights, thereby avoiding gradient disappearance or gradient explosion as the network layer deepens; consequently, the difficulty of model optimisation is simplified. Additional convolutional neural networks are used to accelerate the refinement of deep abstract features based on the spatial importance of the gesture feature distribution. Finally, a fully connected cascade softmax classifier is used to complete the gesture recognition. Compared with the dense connection multiplexing feature information network, the proposed algorithm is optimised in feature multiplexing to avoid performance fluctuations caused by feature redundancy. Experimental results from the ISOGD gesture dataset and Gesture dataset prove that the proposed algorithm affords a fast convergence speed and high accuracy.
