  • This study investigates the relationship between fear of failure of potential entrepreneur's psychological characteristics and entrepreneurial intentions using the mediation variables of planned behavior model. There are many existing prior research related to the entrepreneurial intentions, but they were mostly focused only entrepreneurial success factors. So in this study we focused on fear of failure of potential entrepreneur. To know the influence of the fear of failure related to entrepreneurial intention, we using the scale of PFAI (Performances Failure Appraisal Inventory). The purpose of this study is to examine an impact of fear of failure on entrepreneurial intention and add to mediating factors - attitude toward the acts, subjective norm, perceived behavior control - on the relationship between fear of failure and entrepreneurial intention. Also we examined entrepreneurial education as moderating effect in order to offset the fear of failure. In order to test research model, we collected data from 321 undergraduate students. To test the research questions and hypotheses, we employed SPSS 21.0 anf AMOS 18.0 for validity, reliability, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural model analysis. The results were as follows. First, the fear of failure negatively related to attitude toward the behavior and subjective norm. Second, attitude toward the behavior and subjective norm positively related to entrepreneurial intention in consistent with previous studies. Third, attitude toward the acts and subjective norm in TPB variables have full-mediation effects between fear of failure and intrepreneurial intention. Fourth, The moderating effects of entrepreneurial effect was not significant. The negative relationship between fear of failure and attitude toward the acts and subjective norm was even slightly stronger who have taken the entrepreneurial class group. We discuss the theoretical and managerial implications, and provide suggestions for future research.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive survey. Participants were 153 community dwelling elders from G city. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, and multinominal logistic regression analysis. Results: Activity levers were coded as inactive, minimal activity and enhancing physical active. Thirty-three point three percent reported inactivity, forty-seven point seven percent reported minimal activity and nineteen percent reported health enhancing physical activity. There were significant differences in physical activity relative to gender, age, falling experience, perceived health, and living situation. Further, there was significant difference in fear of falling, depression, and physical fitness by physical activity. For instance, Fear of falling (OR=1.04, p=.014) was a significant predicting factor for physical activity, In contrast for the enhancing physical active the variables of gender (OR=0.28, p=.046), age (OR=0.86, p=.021), perceived health (fair: OR=13.61, p=.006), fear of falling (OR=1.04, p=.026), and two-minute step (OR=1.04, p=.049) were significant. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that physical activity intervention programs are needed to increase physical activity for community dwelling elders. Physical activity intervention programs should be developed and evaluated.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify risk factors of accidental falls by age in the Korean elderly. Methods: The study subjects included 10,242 community-dwelling elders aged 65 or over. The data were analyzed by logistic regression analysis. Results: The risk factors of accidental falls in the younger old group (aged 65~74) include fear of falling (OR=16.28, 95% CI: 12.03~22.03), depression (OR=1.24, 95% CI: 1.06~1.44), and hearing impairment (OR=1.20, 95% CI: 1.01~1.43). The risk factors of accidental falls in the older old group (aged 75~84) include fear of falling (OR=11.54, 95% CI: 7.04~18.93), muscle strength (OR=1.36, 95% CI: 1.15~1.60), number of chronic disease (OR=1.65, 95% CI: 1.09~2.50), and presence of spouse (OR=1.27, 95% CI: 1.06~1.51). The risk factors of accidental falls in the oldest old group (aged 85 years old or older) include fear of falling (OR=8.05, 95% CI: 1.85~34.98) and exercise (OR=2.91, 95% CI: 1.36~6.24). Fear of falling is defined as a common factor in the all age groups. Conclusion: Different strategies should be developed for age groups to prevent elderly falls with understanding of contributing factors of falls in each group.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relation of motor function, depression, and fear of falling, and to identify factors influencing fear of falling in patients with Parkinson's disease in the community. The participants were 180 patients with Parkinson's disease who were selected by convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. There was a significant difference in fear of falling according to gender, occupation, walking assistance device, number of falls, Parkinson's disease stage, duration of illness, antihypertensive drug, motor function, and depression. Fear of falling showed significant positive correlations with motor function, and depression. Depression, number of falls, Parkinson's disease stage, gender, antihypertensive drug, and motor function were significant predictors influencing fear of falling in patients with Parkinson's disease, and these variables accounted for 36.0% of the variance. Depression of the influencing factors was the strongest factor. The results of this study suggest that a variety of intervention strategies for preventing or mitigating depression with systematic nursing assessment of the influencing factors on fear of falling are needed to prevent fear of falling in patients with Parkinson's disease.
