Synthesis and Characterization of Fe-fullerene/TiO2 Photocatalysts Designed for Degradation of Methylene Blue

  • Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite photocatalysts were prepared with titanium (IV) n-butoxide (TNB) by a sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscope (TEM), specific surface area (BET), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution. XRD patterns of the composites showed that the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite contained a typical single and clear anatase phase. The surface properties shown by SEM present a characterization of the texture on Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites and showed a homogenous composition in the particles for the titanium sources used. The EDX spectra for the elemental identification showed the presence of C and Ti with strong Fe peaks for the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composite. From the photocatalytic results, the excellent activity of the Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites for degradation of methylene blue under UV light irradiation could be attributed to both the effects between photocatalytic reaction of the supported $TiO_2$, decomposition of the organometallic reaction by the Fe compound and energy transfer effects such as electron and light of the fullerene.

  • The micro Vickers hardness and internal stress of Ni-Fe metal thin film synthesized by electrodeposition method at $25^{\circ}C$ were studied as a function of bath composition, and surface microstructure and atomic compositions of thin films were investigated by SEM and EDS. And the shape change of $200\;{\AA}$ Ni-Fe nanowires made using anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) templates by electrodeposition method were observed by SEM as a function of ultrasonic treatment time and bath composition. The Fe deposition contents on the substrate non-linearly increased with Fe ion concentration over total metal ion concentration. In case of low Fe contents film, the grain size is smaller and denser than high Fe contents deposited films, and the micro Vickers hardness increased with Fe contents of electrodeposited films. These results affected the shape change of nanowire after ultrasonic treatments.

  • 이미지를 이용한 도공층 구조 분석은 도공층의 실제 Morphology를 분석하여 평가하는 방법으로서 최근 세밀한 도공층 구조 분석을 위해 이 방법에 대한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 특히 이러한 방법은 수은압입법(Mercury intrusion)이나 질소흡착법 (Nitrogen adsorption by BJH theory) 등과 같은 기존의 공극 특성 평가 방법과 달리 pore aspect ratio 및 orientation 등과 같은 공극 dimension을 평가할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 이러한 공극 dimension은 size distribution 및 porosity와 더불어 인쇄, 라미네이션 접착 등과 같은 Liquid interfacial 및 침투 측면에서 중요한 요소이기 때문에 이를 평가하기 위한 적합한 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 또, 원지 부분과 도공층 간의 경계를 명확하게 보여주고 Surface와 Cross-section 영역을 구분하여 평가 할 수 있어 더 명확한 평가를 가능하게 한다. 본 연구에서는 이미지 분석을 통해 도공액 구성 조건에 따른 도공층의 공극 구조 특성을 평가 하였고 일부 요소에 대해서는 수은 압입법과 비교 평가하여 이미지 분석법과의 상관성에 대해 고찰 하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 FE (Field Emission)-SEM은 일반 SEM과 달리 전압에 의한 높은 전기장의 형성을 통해 저 가속 전압으로 이미지를 구현하는 장비로서 본 연구에서는 FE-SEM을 통해 도공층의 세밀한 Morphology와 공극 구조 이미지를 구현할 수 있었다.

  • The encapsulated induction melting and hot pressing were employed to prepare Fe-doped $CoSb_3$ skutterudites and their thermoelectric properties were investigated. Single phase $\delta-CoSb_3$ was successfully obtained by the subsequent heat treatment at 773K for 24 hours. Iron atoms acted as electron acceptors by substituting cobalt atoms. Thermoelectric properties were remarkably improved by the appropriate doping. $Co_{0.7}Fe_{0.3}Sb_3$ was found as an optimum composition for best thermoelectric properties in this work.

  • Sn-filled and Fe-doped $CoSb_3$ skutterudites were synthesized by encapsulated induction melting. Single ${\delta}$-phase was successfully obtained by subsequent annealing and confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Temperature dependences of Seebeck coefficient, electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity were examined from 300 K to 700 K. The positive Seebeck coefficient confirmed the p-type conduction. Electrical resistivity increased with increasing temperature, which shows that the $Sn_zCo_3FeSb_{12}$ skutterudite is highly degenerate. Thermal conductivity was reduced by Sn-filling because the filler atoms acted as phonon scattering centers in the skutterudite lattice. Thermoelectric figure of merit was enhanced by Sn filling and its optimum filling content was considered to be z=0.3 in the $Sn_zCo_3FeSb_{12}$ system.

  • 본 논문에서 Fe-활성탄소 섬유(ACF)/$TiO_2$ 복합체 광촉매를 졸-겔 방법에 의하여 제조하였다. 합성된 광촉매는 UV조사하에서 MB용액의 광분해에 사용되었다. BET 데이터는 Fe와 Ti의 여러 가지 농도를 가지고 처리된 ACF의 표면에서 흡착 특성을 보여준다. SEM 사진에서 보여지는 것처럼, 철 혼합물과 $TiO_2$는 ACF 표면에 활착되어 있음을 나타내었다. X선 분말 회절법으로부터 얻어진 결과는 복합체로부터 FeO+$TiO_2$, Anatase 및 Rutile 구조의 결정상을 나타내었다. 원소분석을 위한 EDX spectra는 Fe와 함께 C, O, Ti의 peak들이 존재함을 나타내었다. MB 분해에 대한 활성은 $TiO_2$의 광분해와 Fe의 photo-Fenton 효과로 인해 전자/hole쌍 반응으로부터 파생된 -OH 라디칼들에 의한 것으로 여겨진다.

SEM을 이용한 상수도 금속관 부식거동에 관한 연구 (A study on corrosion mechanism of water steel pipes using SEM)

  • This experiment was performed to investigate the characteristics of corrosion mechanism of water steel pipes using SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) from March 1. 2002 to November 30. The characteristics shown in these results can be summarized as the following: 1. When I investigated to the characteristics of iron pipes and zinc pipes using a SEM, I could be found that there was a distintion in interface between an iron pipe and the scale, and that a zinc pipe wears a dark color. 2. I find much rate of $Fe_2O_3$ and a little rate of FeS as corrosion products, but I hardly find $FeCO_3$without carbon. 3 It was found that the oxide corrosion rate was 0.2~0.3mm/year. And then A-1 was 0.323mm/year that was very high.

  • The hot pressing was employed to prepare Fe-doped $CoSb_3$ skutterudites and their thermoelectric properties were investigated. Single phase ${\delta}-CoSb_3$ was successfully obtained by the hot pressing under 60MPa at 773 K for 2 hrs. Iron atoms acted as electron acceptors by substituting cobalt atoms. Thermoelectric properties were remarkably improved by the appropriate doping. $Co_{0.7}Fe_{0.3}Sb_3$ was found as an optimum composition for the best thermoelectric property in this work.

Preparation of Different Fe Containing TiO2 Photocatalysts and Comparison of Their Photocatalytic Activity

The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the photocatalytic oxidation of methylene blue (MB) solution. XRD patterns of the composites showed that the photocatalyst composite contained a typical single and clear anatase phase. The surface properties shown by SEM presented a characterization of the texture on Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites and showed a homogenous composition in the particles for the titanium sources used. The EDX spectra for the elemental identification showed the presence of O, C and Ti elements. Moreover, peaks of the Fe element were observed in the Fe-$TiO_2$ and Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ composites. The degradation of MB solution by UV-light irradiation in the presence of photocatalyst compounds was investigated in complete darkness. The degradation of MB concentration in aqueous solution occurred via three kinds of physical phenomena: quantum efficiency of the fullerene; organo-metallic reaction of the Fe compound; and decomposition of $TiO_2$. The degradation rate of the methylene blue solution increased when using Fe-fullerene/$TiO_2$ compounds.

적외선 감지를 위한 0~3 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 복합체 필름의 향상된 초전 특성 (Improved Pyroelectric Characteristics of 0~3 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) Composites Films for Infrared Sensing)

  • 두 단계 스핀 코팅 방법을 사용하여 세라믹 체적 분율 0.10과 0.13의 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 0~3형 복합재료를 제작하고 분석하였다. 0~3형 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 복합재료를 SEM 전자현미경 사진으로 성공적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 전자현미경 사진을 통하여 복합재료의 0~3형 구조를 재확인하였다. 0~3형 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 복합재료는 P(VDF/TrFE) 공중합체보다 센서용 전기적 특성이 우수함을 나타내었다. 그러므로 이러한 낮은 유전상수와 높은 초전계수를 나타내는 0~3형 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 복합재료는 더 높은 성능을 나타낼 수 있는 새로운 초전형 센서 재료로 사용될 수 있다.
