Degradation of 2,6-Dichlorophenol (DCP) using liquid ferrate(VI) synthesized by wet oxidation method has been studied. Several parameters such as pH (acid, base and neutral), DCP initial concentration, ferrate dosage, and temperature have been examined to determine the optimal experimental conditions. The ferrate(VI) has useful properties such as strong oxidizing power and selectivity and generates a non-toxic end product, Fe(III). Ferrate ion reduced rapidly to Fe(III) and oxygen in acidic and neutral conditions. The experimental results showed the higher DCP degradation efficiency in the neutral condition than in the acidic and basic conditions. The oxidation of DCP strongly depended on the dosage of ferrate added to the reactor and DCP initial concentration. With increasing of ferrate dosage the degradation efficiency of DCP increased, while the degradation efficiency of DCP decreased with increasing of DCP initial concentration. The effect of temperature has been tested at 4 different levels (10, 25, 35, and $50^{\circ}C$). The optimal temperature was obtained in $25^{\circ}C$ and degradation efficiency decreased as the temperature increased in the range from $25^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$. The DCP degradation pathways were studied and proposed based on the intermediate products identified by GC/MS analysis.
Amorphous FeCoSiB films with high saturation magnetostriction and excellent soft magnetic properties have been studied to evaluate their strain sensitivity. Films were subjected to a strain by bending of their substrates, which caused a change in the magnetic anisotropy of films via magnetoelastic coupling. Films were exhibited a figure of merit $F=({\Delta}{\mu}/{\mu})/{\varepsilon}$ (change in film permeability $\mu$ per unit strain $\varepsilon$) of $1.2{\times}10^5$, which is comparable with that of amorphous ribbons. To make a study of application of magnetostrictive films as strain sensor elements, we have prepared a micro-patterned film by means of the photolithography and ion milling processes. Impedance change in the patterned films, when strain was applied, was measured over the frequency range from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. Reflecting a large value of figure of merit F, a variation of 46% impedance of films was shown at 100 MHz frequency when a strain of $300{\times}10^{-6}$ was applied.
The solid solutions of the $Sr_{1-X}M_XFeO_{3-y}$ (x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, M=Ca) system having perovskite structures were prepared in air by heat treatment at 1473 K for 18hr. X-ray diffraction assigns cubic system for all the samples and shows that the lattice volume of each system decreases with increasing x value until x=0.3, but increases abruptly from x=0.4. The mole fractions of $Fe^{4+}$ ion($\tau$ value), the amounts of oxygen vacancy (y value) and finally nonstoichiometric chemical formulas for each composition were determined from Mohr salt analysis. TG/DTA thermal analysis (temperature range: 300~1173K) exhibits that 3-y values of the samples having x=0.1 and 0.2, decrease with temperature and increase almost reversibly with decreasing temperature. The samples of $x{\geq}0.3$, however, didn't show the reversible weight change and the 3-y values of them were nearly 2.5 in cooling process. Conductivities of each sample were varied within the semiconductivity range at relatively low temperature. And the conductivity at constant temperature decreases steadily with x value. The conduction mechanism of this ferrite system may be proposed as a hopping model of conducting electrons between the mixed valence states. At high temperature semiconductivity of each sample changed into metallic property.
$Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-{\delta}}$ oxide was synthesized by polymerized complex method. Dense membrane of perovskite oxide was prepared using as-prepared powder by pressing and sintering at $1080^{\circ}C$. Leakage test was conducted on the membrane sealed by gold ring, Pyrex ring or Pyrex powder as a sealing material. The oxygen permeation flux of $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-{\delta}}$ membrane increased with increasing temperature and was $0.74mL/min{\cdot}cm^2$ at $900^{\circ}C$. In the case of the membrane applied by sealing material, oxygen permeation flux of the membrane using gold ring at $950^{\circ}C$ was higher than that using Pyrex materials because the undesired spreading of Pyrex glass materials in the membrane led to the reduction of effective permeation area. Microphotograph analysis results for the membrane after permeation test confirmedthe diffusion of Pyrex glass seal into the membrane.

In this study, a high sensitive giant magnetoresistance-spin valve (GMR-SV) bio-sensing device with high linearity and very low hysteresis was fabricated by photolithography and ion beam deposition sputtering system. Detection of the Fe-hemoglobin inside in a red blood and magnetic nanoparticles using the GMR-SV bio-sensing device was investigated. Here a human's red blood includes hemoglobin, and the nanoparticles are the Co-ferrite magnetic particles coated with a shell of amorphous silica which the average size of the water-soluble bare cobalt nanoparticles was about 9 nm with total size of about 50 nm. When 1 mA sensing current was applied to the current electrode in the patterned active GMR-SV devices with areas of $5x10{\mu}m^2 $ and $2x6{\mu}m^2 $, the output signals of the GMRSV sensor were about 100 mV and 14 mV, respectively. In addition, the maximum sensitivity of the fabricated GMR-SV sensor was about $0.1{\sim}0.8%/Oe$. The magnitude of output voltage signals was obtained from four-probe magnetoresistive measured system, and the picture of real-time motion images was monitored by an optical microscope. Even one drop of human blood and nanopartices in distilled water were found to be enough for detecting and analyzing their signals clearly.
Generally, the characteristic of nanofiltration membranes were catagorized into charged membrane, sieve effect, interaction between membarnes and target solutes. This study aims to investigate the effect item of heavy metal separation with view of charge nanofiltration membranes. The experiments of nanofiltration were conducted by nanofiltration set-up with operational pressure of 0.24 MPa at $25^{\circ}C$ by using synthetic wastewater containing 0.1mg/L of Cr, Fe, Cu, Zn, As, Sn, Pb. Nanofiltration membranes rejected heavy metals much better than chloride, sulfate and TOC, of which concentration in synthetic wastewater was higher than that of heavy metals. To consider rejection characteristics of various metals by nanofiltration membranes, separation coefficient, which is the molar conductivity ratio of the metal permeation rate to the chloride ion or TOC permeation rate, was introduced. In spite of different materials and different nominal salt rejection of nanofiltration membrane used, the separation coefficients of metals were nearly the same. These phenomena were observed in the relationship between the molar conductivity and the separation coefficient for heavy metals.
Proteolytic enzymes perform hydrolysis of the peptide bonds in the protein and most commonly use in the industry. Pseudoxanthomonas sp. WD12 and WD32 were previously isolated as protease producers from a rotten wood sample. Here, we report the secreted proteolytic enzymes. The optimum enzyme reaction temperature for the secreted crude enzyme from the strain WD12 and WD32 were $50^{\circ}C$ at pH 9.0 and $45^{\circ}C$ at pH 8.0, respectively. The enzyme activities of both strains were increased by addition of KCl, NaCl, $CaCl_2$ or $MnSO_4$, and decreased by addition of $AgNO_3$, $CuSO_4$, $FeCl_3$ or $AlCl_3$. Secreted enzymes of both strains were most strongly inhibited by addition of $FeCl_3$ or $CuSO_4$. Taken together these results, WD12 could be a candidate strain of industrial alkaline protease production.

The purpose of this study is the development of more effective filter-type polymer adsorbent for removal of anionic pollutants from wastewater. In order to synthesize the polymer adsorbent that possesses anionic exchangeable function, carboxyl(-COOH) group of PP-g-AA nonwoven fabric was converted into amine($-NH_2$) group by the chemical modification using diethylene triamine(DETA). FT-IR data indicate that amine group was introduced into PP-g-AA through amidation of grafted acrylic acid by reaction with DETA. The degree of amination increased with increase in the reaction time and temperature of the chemical modification process, and was significantly improved by the pre-swelling treatment of PP-g-AA with solvent and addition of metal chlorides as a catalyst in following order as $NH_4OH>MeOH{\geq}HCl{\geq}H_2O\;and\;AlCl_3>FeCl_3{\geq}SnCl_2{\gg}ZnCl_2{\geq}FeCl_2$, respectively. However, the addition of catalyst limited the reusability of DETA, hence was less useful from the viewpoint of cost effectiveness and waste management. The anion exchange capacity of the aminated PP-g-AA(PP-g-AA-Am) increased with increase in the degree of amination, but it reached maximum value at the degree of amination as about $50{\sim}60%$. The anion exchange capacity of PP-g-AA-Am was higher than those of commercial anion resins.
Layered $Li_{1+x}(Mn_{0.4}Ni_{0.4}Fe_{0.2})_{1-x}O_2$ (0 < x < 0.3) solid solutions were synthesized using solgel method with adipic acid as chelating agent. Structural and electrochemical properties of the prepared powders were examined by means of X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy and galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling. All powders had a phase-pure layered structure with $R\bar{3}m$ space group. The morphological studies confirmed that the size of the particles increased at higher x content. The charge-discharge profiles of the solid solution against lithium using 1 M $LiPF_6$ in EC/DMC as electrolyte revealed that the discharge capacity increases with increasing lithium content at the 3a sites. Among the cells, $Li_{1.2}(Mn_{0.32}Ni_{0.32}Fe_{0.16})O_2$ (x = 0.2)/$Li^+$ exhibits a good electrochemical property with maximum initial capacity of 160 $mAhg^{-1}$ between 2-4.5 V at 0.1 $mAcm^{-2}$ current density and the capacity retention after 25 cycles was 92%. Whereas, the cell fabricated with x = 0.3 sample showed continuous capacity fading due to the formation of spinel like structure during the subsequent cycling. The preparation of solid solutions based on $LiNiO_2-LiFeO_2-Li_2MnO_3$ has improved the properties of its end members.
Bioleaching experiments were effectively carried out at $42^{\circ}C$, $52^{\circ}C$ and $62^{\circ}C$ to leach the more valuable metal ions from sphalerite using bacteria. The pH values of the bioleaching solution were constantly maintained for 10 days in the range of 2.40 to 2.55. In these bioleaching experiments, rod-shaped bacteria attached to the sphalerite surface were continuously observed in the sample. Along with the increase in the leaching temperatures, the concentration of Zn and Pb increased in the control sample of leachates, whereas the concentration of Fe increased in the sample containing bacteria. At $42^{\circ}C$, $52^{\circ}C$ and $62^{\circ}C$ the biological leaching content of Zn was found to be 9.5, 2.8 and 2.9 times higher than that in the chemical leaching content, respectively. At these temperatures, the content of Pb in the bacterial sample of the leachate was detected to be 14.8, 7.4 and 3.8 times higher than that of the control sample of the leachate, respectively.
