  • For the research, we developed the hardware and software of the measurement system for on-line test and evaluation. The software controls the hardware of the measurement data and acts as a interface between users and the system hardware. In this paper, we studied performances of the auxiliary block for high-speed railway vehicle. In order to performance these works, the conversion system was developed. Using this system, we obtained the important results, such as voltage values for the battery charger and auxiliary block. Also, we diagnosed the faults and performed the evaluation for auxiliary block using the measurement system and data.

  • In order to improve the power restoration capability of system operators In case that the fault and blackout happen in the power system, Development of the Power Restoration Training System is necessarily required as a simulator tool for training operator. Owing to these reasons, KEPRI has developed the power restoration training system and graphic editor and applied it to Jeju transmission system. This paper presents the design and implementation of the system, and shows a example to simulate the primary restorative line in jeju.

A Study on Arc Conductance of Puffer Type SF6 GCB at Current Zero Period (전류영점 영역에서 파퍼식 SF6 가스차단기의 아크 컨덕턴스에 관한 연구)

  • The SLF(Short Line Fault) breaking capability test for high voltage class $SF_6$ GCB(Gas Circuit Breaker) was conducted. Simplified LC resonant circuit test facility was used for SLF breaking test. During test, Test current was measured by Rogwski coil and arc voltage was measured by voltage divider. Arc conductance was calculated by using these test results before 200ns at current zero. Critical arc conductance value at rated voltage 145kV class is about 2.3mS regardless of breaking current magnitude and arc conductance value at rated voltage 170kV class is about 2.6mS.

  • Monitoring of plasma etch processes for fault detection is one of the hallmark procedures in semiconductor manufacturing. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) has been considered as a gold standard for modeling plasma etching processes for on-line diagnosis and monitoring. However, statistical quantitative methods for processing the OES data are still lacking. There is an urgent need for a statistical quantitative method to deal with high-dimensional OES data for improving the quality of etched wafers. Therefore, we propose a robust relevance vector machine (RRVM) for regression with statistical quantitative features for modeling etch rate and uniformity in plasma etch processes by using OES data. For effectively dealing with the OES data complexity, we identify seven statistical features for extraction from raw OES data by reducing the data dimensionality. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is more suitable for high-accuracy monitoring of plasma etch responses obtained from OES.

  • We propose a robust adaptive fuzzy controller for the transient stability and voltage regulation of a single-machine inflnite bus power system. The proposed control scheme is based on the input-output linearization to eliminate the system nonlinearities. To deal with uncertainties due to a parameter variation or a fault, we introduce fuzzy systems with universal function approximating capability which estimate the uncertainties on-line.

  • 본 논문은 해상풍력단지와 같은 대용량 신재생에너지를 송전하는데 적합한 전압형 HVDC(High Voltage DC) 중에서, 최근 실용화되어 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있는 Modular Multi-level Converter HVDC(MMC HVDC)에 대한 새로운 토폴로지를 제안한 내용이다. 대표적인 MMC HVDC는 독일의 R. Marquardt 교수가 제안한 Half-Bridge 모듈을 적용하여 MMC를 구현하는 방식으로 이는 계통에 DC 지락 사고가 발생할 경우 컨버터를 구성하는 모듈에 큰 고장 전류가 흐르게 되고 결국 모듈의 주요 구성품인 IGBT가 소손 될 수 있는 약점을 지니고 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해 각 모듈에 Thyristor를 삽입하거나 새로운 모듈을 적용하는 방식이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 DC 지락 고장시 큰 고장 전류를 차단할 수 있는 새로운 모듈 구성을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 토폴로지에 대한 기본 동작을 설명하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방식과 기존의 방식을 비교 분석 하였다.

Flux Linkages Ratio-Based Transformer Protection (쇄교자속비를 이용한 변압기 보호)

  • This paper describes a transformer protective relaying algorithm based on the ratio of increments of flux linkages (RIFL) of the primary and secondary windings. The algorithm uses integration approximation. The RIFL is equal to the turns ratio for all operating conditions except for an internal fault. For a single-phase transformer and a Y-Y transformer, the increments of flux linkages (IFL) are calculated. For a Y-$\Delta$ transformer, the difference of IFL are calculated to use the line currents rather than the delta winding currents, which are unavailable. Their ratios are compared with the turns ratio. The comparative study between the proposed and conventional differentiation approximation methods was conducted. The test results show that the algorithm reduces the approximation errors of the conventional methods.

  • Power transformers have a tendency of ultra-high voltage and huge capacity as power demand increases day after day. Therefore, the fault by insulation destruction gives rise to large area of power failure in huge capacity transformers. On-line predictive diagnostics is very important In power transformers because of economic loss and its spreading effect. Hence, this study presents experiments of partial discharge method using ultrasonic sensor in order to confirm the possibility of ultrasonic sensor in power transformers. It carries out the experiments of measuring delay time between ultrasonic sensor and transducer, sensitiities by temperature change of oil and by barriers inside transformers. It is also Included wave analysis by ultrasonic sensor for needle-plate electrode powered on through high-voltage equipments.

  • In this paper an expert system is developed to decide the resetting area of protective devices in power transmission systems. A configuration change in power transmission networks from a substation extension such as new line or bus addition need resetting of protective devices around the point of configuration changes. To find the resetting area in complex power system is very difficult, especially when the distance protective relays are considered to be reset. The proposed expert system, in this paper to find the resetting area has many rules based on the changes of fault currents and apparent factors from the power system alteration. It solves the problem to find relay resetting area using the network information in the database and the rule-base. The case study shows a result of the problem to find relay resetting area in KEPCO system when there is any configuration change.

  • This paper presents the pressure-rise of the puffer cylinder in a model gas circuit breaker and the analyzed results of thermal interruption capability in SLF(short line fault) to the diameter of the puffer cylinder. This paper can be applied to the design of the EHV interrupter.
