  • This paper presents the improvement and application effect in fault restoration program based on distribution automation system(DAS) of KEPCO. When a fault occurs, fault restoration program can detect fault section based on FI information of DAS, and calculate the best restoration solution by comparing the load capacity of outage area and the spare load capacity of connected distribution lines, and propose switch operating procedure for fault section isolation and outage restoration. Fault restoration program was applied to real field and it was verified that this program is applicable to diverse field cases. By using this fault restoration program to the field human error can be reduced and fault procedure can be more reliable, accurate, and fast.

  • Fault section isolation and service restoration are very important for function of DAS. In Japan, a progressive protection method is used for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration. But the progressive protection method has a drawback that the customer will experience outage time and that the rate in use of the feeder is not over 50%. This paper presents a new Service Restoration Algorithm which is for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration method for a ungrounded distribution system. If the proposed algorithm is used, the rate in use of the feeder can improve than before because a distribution system can change multi connection of feeder and the customer's outage time can be reduced. The proposed algorithm has been successfully tested in a distribution system.

  • It is essential for electric power companies to have a quick restoration system of the faulted pole transformers which occupy most of transformers to supply stable electricity. However, it takes too much time to restore it when a transformer is out of order suddenly because we now count on operator in investigating causes of failure and making decision of recovery methods. This paper presents the concept of 'Fault pattern analysis and Restoration prediction model using Data mining techniques’, which is based on accumulated fault record of pole transformers in the past. For this, it also suggests external and internal causes of fault which influence the fault pattern of pole transformers. It is expected that we can reduce not only defects in manufacturing procedure by upgrading quality but also the time of predicting fault patterns and recovering when faults occur by using the result.

  • This paper proposes an autonomous fault determination, fault zone isolation and fault restoration strategy based on the ethernet communication as a new attempt to solve the problem the of the existing central control method. In proposed method, The FRTU(Feeder Remote Terminal Unit)s on the feeder determines autonomously where the faulted zone is by exchanging the voltage and current information with neighbor FRTUs based on the network communication, and then separates the faulted zone in an nil-voltage status to make the protective device to reclose successively. In particular, the minimization of outage time and relational load balancing is archived by each interconnection switch which determines autonomously the load zone to be allocated among those zones after the sound outage zones was separated individually. Finally, to show effectiveness of the proposed fault restoration strategy, the several fault cases are simulated for the test distribution system, and the load balancing index of the proposed solution is compared with all of feasible solutions.

  • 본 논문에서는 복구시간의 최소화 및 효율적인 복구자원 제공을 위해 세그먼트 자동복구 기법을 이용한 네트워크 고장 복구 방안을 제안한다. 세그먼트 자동복구는 대규모 통신망을 다수개의 소규모 서브네트워크로 분할하여 각 서브네트워크에서 자동복구를 수행하는데, 그 성능은 서브네트워크의 크기와 형태에 따라서 다양한 특성을 나타낸다. 대부분의 장애를 서브네트워크 내부에서 복구할 수 있기 때문에 복구시간이 줄어들게 된다. 본 논문에서는 서브네트워크의 분할에 있어서의 특성을 분석하고, 서브네트워크의 크기와 그에 따른 자동복구 방법의 성능을 비교하고 분석한다. 링크와 노드장애가 발생하는 환경에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과에서 제안된 세그먼트 자동복구 방법이 가장 짧은 복구 시간을 나타내었다. 특히 세그먼트 자동복구의 개념을 사용하는 SLSP(Shortest Leap Shared Protection) 방법과 비교했을 경우 복구 시간과 복구 자원 면에서 모두 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

Restoration of Distribution System with Distributed Energy Resources using Level-based Candidate Search

  • In this paper, we propose a method to search candidates of network reconfiguration to restore distribution system with distributed energy resources using a level-based tree search algorithm. First, we introduce a method of expressing distribution network with distributed energy resources for fault restoration, and to represent the distribution network into a simplified graph. Second, we explain the tree search algorithm, and introduce a method of performing the tree search on the basis of search levels, which we call a level-based tree search in this paper. Then, we propose a candidate search method for fault restoration, and explain it using an example. Finally, we verify the proposed method using computer simulations.

  • This paper proposes a new fault restoration method which adopts the recloser as top agent to release the problems of the data concentration and fault processing delay of the existing DAS(distribution Automation System) under the ubiquitous distribution system. In proposed method, top agent collects the data based on the multi-casting communication with the tie switches of the interconnection point, and then selects a closed switch(tie switch) to transfer the sound outage load to other feeders based on the heuristic search strategy step by step until the load transfer work is finished. Here, a new heuristic rule is developed which can guarantee the relational load balancing and line loss from the collected voltage data. Finally, the several faults are simulated for typical multi-section and multi-interconnection distribution system to prove the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, in particular, for each simulation cases, the load balancing index and line loss index of the obtained solution from the proposed method is compared with those of all of feasible solutions.

  • In order to service restoration and enhance power system reliability, a number of impedance based fault location algorithms have been developed for fault locating in a transmission line. This paper presents an advanced impedance-based fault location algorithms in a two-ended sources transmission line to reduce the DC offset error effects. This fault location algorithm uses of the GPS time synchronized voltage and current signals from the local and remote terminal. The algorithm uses an advanced DC offset removal filter. A series of test results using ATPdraw simulation data show the performance effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm is valid for a two-end sources transmission network.

  • 이 논문에서는 배전계통의 정전복구 알고리즘에 대해 연구하였다. 배전계통에서 정전이 발생하였을 경우, 그 피해를 최소화하기 위해 가능한 빠른 시간 내에 정전복구가 완료되어야 한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 광범위한 영역에 걸친 정전구간을 신속하게 복구하기 위한 2가지 방법을 연구하였다. 하나의 방안은 개별정전복구방안이며, 다른 하나는 종합정전복구방안이다. 이 방안은 복구지수를 이용하여 정전구간을 복구하는 것을 도와준다. 또한 연계점 교환법을 이용하여 과부하구간을 해소함으로써 정전복구에 일조하게 된다.
