Telemetry, satellite event and error information are used to check the satellite status in ground station. Different from telemetry which only informs the parameter value, event and error gives explicit information of a certain operation or status. Event also contains ground action information because every command execution is logged as event. Currently, those information is gathered and applied only for monitoring of the satellite. However, the load of the operation is getting grown because of the excessively increased information of the satellite with the number of satellite increasement. Also, the process of reporting problem to developer (or an expert) induce time delay for satellites fault management. In this paper, we propose a satellite operation assistant system which collects event sequence and stores in different group by its feature, and then recommends or executes an appropriate action for the identified abnormal state. This system is applicable to on board system for resolving LEO-satellite autonomous fault situation since is has limited contact time.

The probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for engineering needs several active fault parameters as input data. Fault slip rates, the segmentation model for each fault, and the date of the most recent large earthquake in seismic hazard analysis are the critical pieces of information required to characterize behavior of the faults. Slip rates provide a basis for calculating earthquake recurrence intervals. Segmentation models define potential rupture lengths and are inputs to earthquake magnitude. The most recent event is used in time-dependent probability calculations. These data were assembled by expert source-characterization groups consisting of geologists, geophysicists, and seismologists evaluating the information available for earth fault. The procedures to prepare inputs for seismic hazard are illustrated with possible segmentation scenarios of capable fault models and the seismic hazards are evaluated to see the implication of considering capable faults models.
As electric power systems grow to supply the increasing electric power demand short-circuit current tends to increase and impose a severe burden on circuit breakers and power system apparatuses. Thus, all electric equipment in a power system has to he designed to withstand the mechanical and thermal stresses of potential short-circuit currents. Among current limiting devices, Fault Current Limiter (FCL) is expected to reduce the short-circuit current. Especially, Superconducting Fault Current Limiters (SFCL) offer ideal performance: in normal operation the SFCL is in its superconducting state and has negligible impedance, in the event of a fault, the transition into the normal conducting state passively limits the current. The SFCL using high-temperature superconductors offers a positive resolution to controlling fault-current levels on utility distribution and transmission networks. This study contributes to the EMTDC based modeling and simulation method of DC Reactor type SFCL. Single and three phase faults in the utility system with DC reactor type SFCLs have been simulated using EMTDC in order to coordinate with other equipments, and the results are discussed in detail.
Modern chemical processes are becoming more complicated. The sophisticated chemical processes have needed the fault diagnosis pxpert systems that can detect and diagnose the fault diagnosis expert systems that can detect and diagnose the faults of some processes and give and advice to the operator in the event of process faults. We present the Time-Delay Neural Network(TDNN) approach for on-line fautl diagnosis. The on-line fault diagnosis system finds the exact origin of the fault of which the symptom is propagated continuously with time. The proposed method has been applied to a pilot distillation column to show the merits and applicability of the TDNN.

ACSR is a timed process algebra for the specification and analysis of real-time systems, which supports synchronous timed actions and asynchronous instantaneous events. PACSR is an extended ACSR with the notion of probabilities in selection operation. Using PACSR, this paper represents a system fault occurrence and recovery from the fault in the general resource alteration system. The result shows that system fault occurrence can be analyzed from the fault occurrence probability and the recovery probability.
A high energy arcing fault event occurred in the medium-voltage (13.8 kV and 4.16 kV) metalclad switchgears in a nuclear power plant not only affecting switchgear but also connected equipment due to the arc energy. The high energy arcing fault also causes a fire that influences the safety function of the unit. Therefore, from the safety point of view, it is necessary to evaluate the influences of high energy arcing fault events on the safety functions of nuclear power plants. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the characteristics of high energy arcing faults and propose a high energy arcing fault mitigation scheme for medium voltage networks in nuclear power plants.
A method and computer code for the uncertainty analysis in the top event unavailability are developed and tested by combining Monte Carlo Method and Moments method with fault tree reduction technique. Using system fault trees and unavailability data selected in WASH-1400, the efficiency of the proposed method is tested and these results are compared with those obtained by Monte Carlo method. It is shown that the results are sufficiently good in accuracy and computation time is considerably reduced compared with those by Monte Carlo method.

This paper proposes an expert system that can enhance the accuracy of real-time bus reconfiguration strategy by adopting the local minimum tree search method and that can minimize the spreading effect of the fault by considering the operating condition when a main transformer fault occurs in an automated substation. The local minimum tree search method is used to expand the best-first search method. This method has the advantage that it can improve the solution performance within the limits of the real-time condition. The inference strategy proposed expert system consists of two stages. The first stage determines the switching candidate set by searching possible switching candidates starting from the main transformer or busbar related to the event. The second stage determines the rational real-time bus reconfiguration strategy based on heuristic rules from the obtained switching candidate set. Also, this paper proposes generalized distribution substation modeling using graph theory, and a substation database based on the study results is designed.
In conventional probability-based human reliability analysis, the basic human error rates are modified by experts to consider the influences of many factors that affect human reliability. However, these influences are not easily represented quantitatively, because the relation between human reliability and each of these factors in not clear. In this paper, the relation is expressed quantitatively. Furthermore, human reliability is represented by error possibilities proposed by Onisawa, which is a fuzzy set on the interval [0,1]. Fuzzy reasoning is used in this method in order to obtain error possibilities. And, it is supposed that many basic events affected by the above factors are connected to the top event through Fault Tree structure, and an estimate of the top event expressed by a member- ship function is obtained by using the fuzzy measure and fuzzy integral. Finally, a numerical example of human reliability analysis obtained by this method is given.
